Being a very old house, there were some weird things such as no central air and i can't run the two small units without tripping a breaker. Regardless, beautiful place. The grounds are incredible and there was a hot tub and the host sajd we could help ourselves to her fresh strawberries and vegfies in the garde

We had a lovely stay at The Parsonage. The gardens are just beautiful and we even spotted a little rabbit hopping around. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it was well-suited for any need. Mary is an excellent communicator and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.

This was our second time staying at Mary's. What a lovely home and so close to our family. It turned out to be a very warm weekend but the air conditioners for night were conveniently located and easy to use. Made our night sleeping wonderful. Thank you to a wonderful hostess. We will stay again. J & J

Loved walking in to Gig Harbor! I enjoyed the hot tub and really loved the little upstairs lounge space. Mary lives here part time but did not come by during my visit. She is a thoughtful hostess. I enjoy renting from the primary owner instead of a management company.

Mary is very welcoming. Shows you around and lots of amenities. Very great location. Had a wonderful stay!

What a comfortable warm home. Although we didn't spend much time in the home since we were visiting family for Thanksgiving we really enjoyed it. Hot tub, warm and inviting. Mary, our host, is a delight. I bet the garden is just beautiful in spring and summer!

We visit Gig Harbor several times per year, primarily to go fishing and crabbing on the Puget Sound. The Parsonage is one of our new favorite VRBO homes! Excellent location — walkable to our favorite cafe amidst beautiful, quiet, peaceful surroundings. Mary is a wonderful host and ensured that we had everything we needed. We prefer to prepare our own meals if blessed with a bountiful fishing/crabbing trip, and the kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Historic home with lots of character while also updated for a very comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

Charming older house that has been nicely updated, including a newer kitchen with lots of room and everything we needed. Best part is the location, just two blocks from the harbor. Great yard with good outdoor living area. Mary, our host, is very nice, and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We would definitely stay here again.

What a great place to visit

The location is top notch! Property is cute and spacious. The outdoor garden is great as well. The owner lives here full-time so it feels a bit weird since all items are personal items rather than items meant for rentals. She came over for multiple HOURS every few days to check the property and water the garden. We felt as if we needed to leave each time and it was a lot. It really stressed my parents out and did not make the trip/rental feel welcoming or enlacing. The hot tub was also filthy and not usable. We tried once and water smelled terrible. Our bathing suits smelled awful and we had to wash all suits and towels immediately from the smell. Not chemical but just rancid.

We really enjoyed our stay in gig harbor. The house and property are lovely. It is walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. Mary was nice and greeted us upon arrival with a tour of the house. The hot tub out back was an added bonus. We would recommend Mary’s place and will try and stay here again if we are in the area.

The house was wonderful! It was super clean and the hot tub was ready for us when we arrived. It is a 5-min. walk to to restaurants and a really quiet, nice neighborhood. The home owner was very responsive and helpful with instructions on how to access/use things in the home. We had a great time and would do it again!

Very cozy and lovely place to spend a weekend with the grandkids! Everything we could possibly need was there and when the kids found the toys, it was like they hit the lottery. The property is very unique and we were very impressed with the renovations.

The property is a fabulous property that is set in the wonderful, nautical town of Gig Harbor. Only a couple blocks from the waterfront where you can enjoy the scenery, take a walk and/or enjoy some great casual and fine dining. The home is well appointed and well decorated. The home has been added onto since originally built which made for some of the light switches to be in places you wouldn’t expect but that is quickly solved with a bit of hunting. The home has a nice patio area with a hot tub to enjoy if weather permits.
Our only issue was having the owner on-site 7 days of our 10 day stay to water and otherwise work in the gardens. It seemed a bit odd that a short term rental required that much maintenance for the yard and garden.
Not sure we would rent again as it was awkward having the owner on site that much but that does not diminish the quality of the home itself or the beautiful location.

Fantastic property!
My wife and I spent 10 days here in December. The house was clean, and in a great location. We both love to cook, and this house had all the cooking utensils we could ever ask for! Other VRBO properties we've stayed at had the bare minimum, and we've had to purchase things like baking sheets and decent pans. Not with this house! We were able to make Christmas day dinner of lasagna and home baked bread for our family. It's a foodie's paradise! We were very comfortable and all the amenities worked as advertised. Mary was very pleasant, and took the time to introduce us to all the features on the property. We would definitely stay here again, and have already told our friends about it. Best VRBO we've ever stayed in!

PROMISES NOT KEPT
We rented this property with a hot tub, television, washer and dryer and the promise of privacy from Mary, the owner. We arrived early evening and waited for our children to arrive. Our television did not work, the hot tub did not work, the dryer did not work and none of this was told to us in advance. Day 2, Mary informed us that she would be working outside all day if it was not raining...not my idea of privacy. We left for the day and came home at dark to find Mary still there...she told us previous guests had broken the television and the hot tub, She also told us that the dryer had broken the morning we had arrived. We got a text to tell us she was taking the broken dryer out and the washing machine out...a whole day was used while the washer and dryer were removed and replaced by the owner and her friends...again no privacy. Mary arrived one day to exchange cars, and came into the garage...we all scrambled to get dressed as we were unaware this was going to happen. I got a call two days before Thanksgiving telling me that Mary was on the phone with the cable company and could I try to turn on the television so that she could relay her conversation to me to try to fix the tv. I was not home, she called my husband, she relayed the information to my husband and they got it running. I asked at this point if our family would be left alone on Thanksgiving and she said yes.....but wait...I was also informed that Mary would be stopping by the house the day after Thanksgiving to pick up supplies, etc...another day we left....we were uncomfortable...In all out of 7 days I think there were two that Mary did not come by....To be fair, Mary left us a check, which we declined....to compensate us for our troubles......... Oddly enough, Mary did not acknowledge that we declined the check or communicate in any way with us. We rented a place with the understanding we would be left alone to enjoy each other. That did not happen...then the toilet broke...my husband got it working ....we just wanted to be left alone to enjoy each other...The house itself is lovingly decorated but if you want to enjoy privacy, a hot tub, television that works and honest communication this may not be the place for you.

The property was well cared for and in a great location. It is the primary house of the owner and she moved out while we were in the house.

Charming house and gardens
We rented the whole house (2 bedrooms). It had a full bath upstairs and half bath down. Beautiful kitchen! 2 living room areas to relax in. Very clean and pretty and only a short walk from restaurants and coffee/breakfast shops. Highly recommend!

Sharing House With Owner
We thought we would have the house to ourselves. The owner was around quite often in the kitchen. It wasn’t a big problem, just different from the way it was described.

Beautiful gardens but soft beds
Mary offered to stay with a friend so we could have the house to ourselves. She did stop by unexpectedly which felt just a tiny bit like she was checking in on us.
Overall however we enjoyed the home and she was very welcoming.
Great location, beautiful scenery but very soft beds (not a probably for half of our party members so it just depends on your preference).

First off, the location of this property is ideal for Gig Harbor! The gardens are exceptional and have been part of the Gig Harbor Garden Tour. The kitchen is a “dream kitchen” and well appointed. There is a lot of fascinating history regarding the property as well. However, my husband and I were not anticipating that this was a “shared” rental. The property was a former B&B and the owner lives on site and shares all of the common area. In addition, if we had not rented both bedrooms, there could have been a possibility of sharing the upstairs bathroom with another renter as well. During COVID, we had rented a VRBO in order to stay “sheltered” with just the two of us, as we usually stay at hotels when we travel. The bedrooms were okay. The queen bedroom was roomy, but had very light blinds so it was very bright. It was also over the garage so when the owner would use the garage door it was noisy. The bed was comfortable. The king bedroom was very cramped and the furniture was very dated, the bed was not very comfortable as it was in a former waterbed frame. The king bedroom closet also contained many of the owners personal items and photo albums. It just felt uncomfortable. The hot tub was unavailable the first night, but it was very nice on the other evenings that we were there. There are two large TV’s, one in the downstairs living room, one in the upstairs sitting room and two small TV’s in the bedrooms. Mary, the owner, was very nice and had many helpful suggestions for restaurants and other activities. She also tried not to be intrusive, but we didn’t really feel as comfortable as we have been with other VRBO rentals that were not shared.

5 Star stay at a Beautiful Property
My family and I stayed at The Parsonage this week and were extremely happy with the property and the host. Mary has goes out of her way to make you feel right at home in this beautifully renovated historic home. It has all you need and more, 2 private beds, 1.5 baths living room, fully stocked and I mean fully stocked beautiful kitchen. Backyard patio surrounded by manucured gardens to enjoy the evening breezes. Oh and did I mention the hot tub? Clean and inviting just right for a day of hiking. You are right at home here and just a short walk to the shops and restaurants at the harbor. Thanks again Mary for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!
