House Location
Pacific Palms is a small enclave locked in by Myall Lakes National Park, Wallis Lakes, Smiths lake, Booti Booti National Park and the Pacific Ocean. Together they make over 100 kilometres of lakes hugging the coastline with at times only sand dunes separating the lakes from the ocean.
Smiths lake is located in between Myall Lakes and Wallis Lake and is 20 mins drive south of Forster and 2.5/3 hours drive from Sydney. The house is perched 15 metres high on the lakes edge overlooking the Sandbar. This is one of the prized positions of Smiths Lake as it is in a secluded spot overlooking the ocean and fronting the best part of lake. This part of the lake has lots of calm shallow sandy bottomed water to swim in (Ideal for kids).
The house is also a short stroll to the locals shops: bakery, grocery, butcher, liquor shop, take-away and the famous local cafe frothy coffee down on the jetty (what more do you need)!
House Design
The Noreaster is a modern architect designed pole house nestled amongst the tree-tops, with two pavilions joined by a glass walk-way. For the ultimate in relaxed living, every room as been designed to take advantage of the views, light and breeze.
The living area has bi-fold doors that open out to the deck that overlooks the lake, sandbar and ocean. The house and waterfront is protected from Southern and Western wind. On hot days the sea breeze (Nor'easter) kicks in and acts as natural air conditioning keeping the temperature surprising mild on hot summer days. There are purposefully placed louvre windows designed to catch the summer breeze and flow it through through all rooms in the house, breeze ways.
You can also enjoy the home theatre sound system with Bluetooth connection and Smart TV, while the cooks kitchen is fully equipped. For those staying during the cooler months, in front of the open fireplace is the best place to be. To bring the outdoors in, the two queen bedrooms each have a full wall of glass, and the bathroom has floor to ceiling louvres that open to a private fern courtyard. At your back door is a invigorating outdoor shower, and further down a short path is the lakes edge. At the front of the house is a protected BBQ area, perfect to use any time of the year.

We decided to stay at "Noreaster" as we wanted a property in nature that gave myself, husband and 3 boys a beautiful, serene place to stay that was a great access point to explore the surrounding area. We had the most amazing stay!!! The property not only offered beautiful views but showed off an array of birdlife, nestled amongst lovely trees and was so quiet apart from natures sounds. Mark the owner was easy to work with and extremely quick to respond to any query. We will 100% be back again :)

We had a wonderful week at Smiths Lake. The house is lovely and located above the lake with nice views of the sandbar. Access to the lake is down a private path, which whilst steep is well maintained.
Mark is a great host and easy to communicate with.
We would love to get back here again.

A great place for a winter weekend away with a fire and watching the water. A nice walk to the cafe and to explore around nearby. I can only imagine how great it would be in summer.

The view is the first thing that strikes you when you unlock the front door. It's magnificent.
The house has been cleverly designed and aptly named.
The foldback doors give you a real sense of living in the treetops and the birdsong is entrancing. It's the view across the lake and over to Cellito that makes this a beautiful place to holiday.
Being able to walk down to the water's edge and walk across the Lake to the beach was a marvellous experience. We arranged for a kayak and tinny to go fishing and spent a lot of time on the water.
Waking up to the sunrise from either of the queen size beds is just incredible. You never tire of it.
The third bedroom with 4 bunk beds is best suited to younger, lighter (and shorter) people.
There's an excellent sound system and TV with all the trappings.
The compact 2 burner stove took a bit of getting used to and once we adjusted our timing and sequencing of the meals, we were fine.
The Miele washer/dryer all-in-one combo is a bit tricky, so just pack a few more clothes and a couple of extra beach towels so you don't have to wash as often.
Our intention was to get back to Smith's Lake, relax, reconnect and shrug off the year. Thanks to the Noreaster, that's precisely what we were able to do.
It was just the tonic.
Planning our next visit.

The best feature of this property is the beautiful outlook across smiths lake among the branches and catching the breeze.
We felt the property needs a bit of an update on Media/entertainment, kitchen/BBQ utensils and a spring clean.
Easy drive to beautiful beaches and access to the lake direct from the property. Unfortunately the walk down the trail to the lake was quite steep and difficult for our young children.
If you are after serenity and a decent base to explore the area we would recommend. Thanks for having us!

We had a much needed week of pure tranquility. The home offers the ultimate get away from everything experience. Walking around the lake is so peaceful and the birdsong is just something else. Even in the cooler months the deck catches the sun and is a beautiful spot to just be.

Mark was a gracious host who prepared and presented a very warm and welcoming home that completely lived up to the listing and our (high) expectations. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others; beautifully presented, well appointed, fabulous views and a truly special outlook, it was a very memorable escape.

Easy to rent, great communication from owner. It’s exactly as pictured but better in reality plus a coffee machine in the kitchen - we took our own but that was a nice touch. We’d return definitely!

We had a fabulous week staying at Smiths Lake. Weather was glorious, the views from the house were spectacular and constantly changing. A vast array of birds in the surrounding trees.
We enjoyed lots of walks in the area and swimming at beautiful beaches with amazing clear water.
The house was lovely in a quiet street. Very comfy bed. A small group of shops nearby. I feel it could be quite cold in winter with only 2 small column heaters as well as the open fire for heating.
The Great Lakes area has been well protected from development and is well worth visiting with vast unspoiled bush and beaches.

Beautiful quiet spot perched amongst the trees with views of the lake and ocean beyond the sand bar.

We had a wonderful week at the Nor’ Easter. Smiths Lake and surrounds offer many opportunities to relax and appreciate nature. The house is set in a beautiful position with stunning views and easy access to the lake and nearby beaches. Highly recommended as a convenient and restorative break from Sydney life.

We stayed on Boomerang and Blueys beaches before. We were not sure that we liked lake view. Wow! We absolutely loved this beautiful and unique view of lake, sandbar & Ocean. Also very quiet , private and relaxing. We walked cross the lake at low tide to Cellito beach. Our teenagers enjoyed playing board games on the deck, kayaking ( from Frothy coffee boatshed) and paddle boarding ( from mobile rental, pacific palms SUP). We had a wonderful time and would love to come back to stay at Nor’easter.

Wether you are after a relaxing holiday or one full of adventure it’s a must to stay here. Breathtaking views from living area and bedrooms have you gazing in awe. A short track down to Smiths lake for water and sand play perfect for my two year old, and only a short drive to Forster and blueys beach. Don’t hesitate just book! You won’t regret it.

Love sleeping in the trees and waking up to a pink sunrise over Cellito Beach. Wonderful, well-equppied house for couples or a family. Views over Smiths Lakes, an Osprey nest in the trees near the verandah and minutes away by car from the Frothy Coffee and wild Cellito Beach.

The property has direct access to the lake and an awesome view. We stayed with our four children (5,8,9, 11) and the lake was perfect for swimming and fishing. Free wifi and foxtel and movies were perfect for end of day chilling. We saw possums, kookaburras and owls.
The access to the lake is steep and nit fir anyone elderly or with mobility issues you best drive down. The house was clean and had everything we needed, thank you!

Wonderful property and location. Wish we could transport it to Canberra.
A unique experience sitting in the trees, enjoying the bird life, ( maybe not the kamikaze kookaburras) , soaking up the beautiful and peaceful environment. The accommodation was fantastic.

If you are looking for some down time, to do not much, but relax & read a good book then this is the place for you. The house itself is lovely with breathtaking views of Smiths Lake & the beach. My husband who thinks he is another David Attenborough was overwhelmed with all the bird life that came & visited us on the verandah. Even though the weather played against us, with torrential rain, we still enjoyed our stay with the open fire raging & a nice glass of wine or two. Would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys tranquillity & the peacefulness of the area.

Thoroughly recommended stay, great location close to nature and the water.

Great location looking thru trees to lake and sea beyond. Not far from excellent surf at Blueys/Boomerang(10min drive), Cellitos (10m) and Seal Rocks (25m). Or paddle or walk (very shallow) the 1 km over pristine Smiths Lake to middle Cellitos for insane beach breaks. Smiths Lake is wonderfully quiet. Has great shops- the butcher, baker, minimart, bottle shop and take away @ Smiths all excellent. The huge light filled living space and deck are the highlight. Sitting listening to and watching the bird life, watching sunrise and sunset and the changing light on lake. Very peaceful. Great kitchen, great bathroom, excellent main bedrooms and comfy beds. The matress could be more comfortable on the bunk beds. Ok for kids. Would be bad for adult or older /heavier kids. The to, sound system and DVD library are excellent. I'll be going back!
