We enjoyed the lake and peacefulness.

A beautiful home nestled in a quiet cove. We had a very comfortable stay while enjoying the lake by day and the fire pit at night. The owners are always available if needed. We have rented two years in a row and plan on renting again for next Summer!

The lake access was unsurpassed. We loved the dock, the floating dock, the paddle boat and the two kayaks. We even got to use the firepit even though it was a hot weekend.
The home was beautiful and comfortable. Love the different sections of the home so that different family groups had their own section and a little privacy.
Thanks for a lovely visit.

The Ramsey retreat was a hidden gem that we were so blessed to stay at. We were attending a college graduation and found this sweet place. The owners are super helpful and thoughtful. The place is immaculate, homey, and so peaceful. The location was perfect for us. We will definitely be back. We can't wait! Thank you for sharing you special retreat with us.

Beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood. Very well kept and plenty of room for our group.

When we first pulled into the driveway we were greeted by not one or two but seven deer grazing on the property. This told us everything we needed to know about the property. Peace and quiet, beautiful views, close enough to the lake we could hear the fish jumping. Open concept layout allowed everyone in our party to be comfortable but close enough to be included. Very clean, nicely furnished we thoroughly enjoyed our week there. Close enough to everything we wished to do without driving half a day. A 5 star accommodation in our opinion! Thank you Ramseys!

Located in a quiet no-wake cove making the lake very good for swimming. The house is in a very quiet off the beat location. The street through the neighborhood is bike friendly! Beautiful view!
This was our second stay at the property and will book this location again in the future.

Great place for a family vacation. Four generations were present for the week. Plenty of space for 7 adults and 3 children. Beautiful view of the lake from the large back porch and boat dock. Made use of kayaks and peddle boat provided and rented a pontoon boat which we kept at the private dock. State park was only 1 mile down the road and took advantage of bike trails. Members of the family said this would be a good choice for a repeat vacation.
Ramsey Retreat for the win!

The place was very nice and clean. We would have liked a bigger TV and a path to the water as it was a long walk in the grass with a hill. The water was nice you could see the bottom. When we were there we wanted to fish off the dock but there was no fish around. The fire pit was great for s'mores. It was very peaceful because we were the last house. The kayaks were great and the peddle boat.

If you’re considering staying at this property, do it! It’s exactly as listed—-the view, the location, and the overall appearance of the home. It’s cozy yet spacious. And, spotless! Donna and John could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. The proximity to the state park was a big bonus for our group. We spent many hours hiking the beautiful, well marked trails. The park is a short drive or bike ride away. Mornings on the deck were the perfect start to our day. The fire pit by the lake was the perfect way to end a day. The nights got chilly during our week so we didn’t spend as much time by the fire pit as we would have liked. But day time time on the lake was just what we’d hoped. We brought our own stand up paddle boards and enjoyed the use of the paddle boat provided. The view from all of the beautiful windows facing the lake were just what we’d hoped. I only wish we had more time there. I am already anticipating our next visit!

The best thing about this property was the view and the accessibility to the water . It is in a great location . Mitchell's marina is close by where we rented our pontoon boat . The ping long table was loved by all . Great time .

We had a fantastic time! The description of the location and its amenities were on the money. It was a clean and spacious home in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood with great views and a nice dock on the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It's definitely one of the best places we have ever stayed at on a lake, particularly Smith Mountain Lake. We highly recommend this wonderful home, and we would definitely return again, especially since it created everlasting memories for us.

Beautiful Views
The property was great, settled back on a nice cove. Plenty of room to swim, float, paddle board, etc. You are quick water ride away from Mitchell’s Marina and a quick drive to the state park and grocery stores. The ping pong table ensured nightly fun. The house is spacious. We had 6 people (4 adults, 2 children) and we never felt like we were on top of each other/in each other’s way. The deck is wonderful to take in the beautiful scenery. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place for kayaks and families
The water is where we spent most of our time. There is a gentle slope into the water at the dock and is the prefect depth for kids to play in the water. It is also located in a no wake zone making a perfect location to swim and kayak. We caught sun fish, bluegills, bass, perch, and carp off the dock. There were several water and inside toys for the kids and most were in good condition. The house was in good condition except for a leak in the kitchen. All the rooms were larger than expected and the beds were very comfortable. Overall it was a great vacation and I would consider staying there again.

The Perfect Getaway
This property is everything you could ask for if you're looking for a quiet getaway. Tucked away on a small, shallow cove, the location is perfect for whatever type of activity you're looking for. Relaxing on the deck, kayaking, and fishing were our favorites! The property itself is spacious and well-kempt. We also can't say enough about the Ramseys as hosts. Not only were they friendly and communicative, they graciously accommodated our last minute request to stay an extra night. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

Fantastic
Donna & John were amazing. Their lake home allowed the 6 of us to enjoy great laughs on the back porch from sun up till late night. Views of the water were fantastic. So sorry we only stayed two nights. Would have been so much fun to have a fire in the firepit down by the water.

Family reunion
The House was immaculate, bright and airy! The water by the boathouse was shallow so the children could wade into the water. Paddle boat and kayaks were provided for extra fun in the no wake area by the dock. Upper level deck was enjoyable to have our dinners and relax in the evening. State park is 5 minutes away as well as a convenience store. We would definitely recommend this house! We had a FUNtastic time!

Beautiful
Great stay! We loved the house, all the amenities, kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The dock was amazing. Very private and calm. The wildlife was amazing! Baby deer in the yard, baby ducks and geese at the dock. We loved everything! Only recommendation is that the beds in the upstairs and downstairs are a little uncomfortable. Owners were very communicative and checked in regularly to make sure everything was ok. HIGHLY recommend this house and the Ramseys!

Wonderful Week
The Ramsey's Retreat delivered beyond our expectations. The layout of the lake house worked well for our family and the dock and kayak launch area were great! The Ramsey's were responsive and helpful all along the way from reserving the property to our check out on the last day. It was a perfect week that ended with a beautiful moon over the mountain and lake on our last night.

Another great stay at Ramsey's Retreat!
We stayed June 19-26th at Ramsey's Retreat. This was our 2nd time here and we enjoyed it just as much as our first time last year. Their home was very clean and John and Donna were very responsive to any questions we had regarding Smith Mountain Lake. If you get a chance and are looking for something to do not too far away, check out Thomas Jefferson's retreat in Forest, Va. It's about 45 minutes away and was well worth the trip. Also, go to Old Oak Cafe and try their sweet potato pancakes, yum! We liked our stay so much this year we are returning next year for year #3!
Thank you,
Julie and Denny Milletics

Just what we needed
We couldn’t have asked for better weather in November. Property was very clean and the view was unbeatable! Donna was so kind, as we locked ourselves out one night and she answered the call to help us!

A Wonderful Retreat
This is our go-to place for a fall getaway! We stayed for three different years now. The view is spectacular and the house is very nice. Great layout for a family. My kids love the big backyard, fire pit and ping pong table. The paddle boat is fun too! Location is a quick drive to the state park or it’s easy to get over to Moneta for restaurants and other attractions. There are almost always deer around, and we love the big porch. The owners are great to work with and I love that linens have been added to the rental. We have rented several houses at SML and this is our favorite by far.

Escape
We were very satisfied with the entire process of renting this home. The Ramseys kept in contact with us and were very responsive to any questions we had both about the property and surrounding area. The property itself was very nice, and well stocked with anything you would need. The cove the home is located on was very quiet and a perfect place to drop anchor and enjoy the view. We would definitely stay at this property again.

It needs a deep clean ,power wash, painting and up date of rugs, mats etc. The kayak, inflatable canoe and pedal boat need cleaned. No hair dryer And why did I have to remove my 1bag of trash when I am being charged a cleaning fee?

Wonderful home!
We had a wonderful stay at Ramsey's Retreat! It was perfect for our young children (10 mos - 8 years old). Even in October, the water was warm enough for the kids to play in it. There is a beach area where the kids could walk in and our 3 and 4 year old were able to play in the shallow water. We also enjoyed the paddle boat and blow up kayak. The kids roasted smores at the fire pit and the adults got to enjoy it at night. We look forward to staying here again!
