Enjoy a relaxing and peaceful escape from the everyday, situated 2kms from historic Millthorpe, the suite is the idyllic weekend away. The 50 acres offers a beautifully maintained enchanted garden, with rustic and historic outbuildings, a working lavender farm, breathtaking sunsets and a menagerie of animals. The very cosy and comfortable semi-detached suite provides a home away from home for couples or groups of four.
The very cosy semi-detached suite has its own private entrance and outdoor area overlooking an expansive 130 year old walnut tree. Ideal for couples and families alike, the well-appointed and comfortable suite is fully air conditioned with a large living/dining area, separate queen bedroom, queen futon and bathroom, including a separate shower and bath. The kitchen has all necessary amenities including, oven, toaster, fridge, crockery, cutlery etc. There is a Nespresso machine and fully stocked tea selection. Let us know if you want to collect any free range eggs from our chickens for eggs in the morning.
Wake up to the sound of birds chirping (and the smell of lavender during the harvest) and stroll or cycle into Millthorpe for a delicious breakfast made of scrumptious local produce complimented by locally roasted coffee. A short distance from Millthorpe, the beautiful and charming village offers highly acclaimed hatted restaurant Tonic, convivial country pubs, quaint cafes, historic museum, boutique shops, cellar doors, and beautifully manicured sports oval with a kids playground.
Finish the day with a game of tennis (tennis racquets available) on the property, a refresher at the pub and a sublime dinner at Tonic. We are more than happy to provide restaurant suggestions and where necessary make any bookings for you.
Guests have full access to the self-contained kitchen with coffee machine, fridge and amenities - ideal for short and long term stays. It includes a private bathroom with a shower and bath. The suite also has private access, with an adjoining garden and verandah. Parking is adjacent to the entrance and provides easy access.
The suite is located adjoining the main house but offers complete privacy and private access. We are always available for a chat or provide information on the region including walks, restaurants and cellar door recommendations.
Enjoy a complimentary bottle of local wine upon arrival.
The lavender blooms in the warmer months and is typically in full bloom from December to February, depending on the season. We harvest from late December through to February. If the focus of your trip is the lavender, please contact us in advance and we can update you on the season.
If possible, we do offer one night stays for last minute bookings. Please contact us if you are interested in a one night stay and we will try our best to accomodate.
Pets are considered upon enquiry. Additional cleaning charges may apply.
We have air conditioning and heating in the suite. We hope you use it to your comfort, however in keeping with our eco-ethics we ask that you use it only when necessary.

We three adults had a great stay at Ashburton: a perfect location to access the many charming country towns between Orange and Bathurst including nearby Millthorpe.
The cottage was warm, cozy and well appointed, and we enjoyed exploring the lavender fields and wandering the laneways. Ken and Phe are friendly and considerate hosts and we greatly appreciated their local knowledge and generosity. The friendly farm pets, wide night sky and selection of fine local wines was a welcome bonus.

We had a cozy stay at the cottage and enjoyed the farm, although the heating could have been better :)

Thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay over the Easter period in a lovely setting close to Millthorpe. We were warm and comfortable in our spacious self-contained cottage. Our hosts were very welcoming, and we were surprised and delighted by the complimentary bottle of wine, home-baked bread and fresh eggs. Many thanks to Ken and Phe.

Phe and Ken are a great host and simply the best. The property is in amazing condition. Very clean, very well maintained, very comfortable and has everything a family needs for a few nights stay or even longer. It was a home away from home for us especially with 2 little kids. Everyone loved the stay. Fresh bread and eggs provided on first morning added to the whole farm experience. Property is very close to nearby town and Orange and yet located in the middle of farms which is absolutely the best location you can ask for when needing a break from city. We had booked this stay in 2021 but due to COVID lockdowns had to defer a few times. Phe and Ken were simply amazing and very prompt to answer our queries and responded to our changing requests for booking reschedules. I could continue to write about this amazing property and the hosts but will end with a rating of 10 out of 5.

We were met by Ken when we arrived and made immediately to feel at home. We later met Phe and the children. Nothing was too much trouble. We were warmly welcomed by all and encouraged to explore the farm. We loved Milthorpe and explored Carcoar as well. A truly relaxing couple of days. We will be back!

We had an excellent weekend away here. The hosts were great at communicating prior to arrival and everything was ready for us us, including a bottle of wine and milk. Fresh eggs were provided in the morning. The property was spotlessly clean and very spacious. Kitchen was very well equipped. We loved exploring the farm, our 2 year old enjoyed feeding the sheep and meeting the ducks and chickens.
Thank you - this is well recommended!

Very clean property, peaceful location, useful kitchen, close to picturesque Millthorpe. Polite hosts. We enjoyed the tennis court - it was older style but adequate. I wish I had brought my bike to ride into town. Overall excellent stay.

We enjoyed our stay very much - very roomy and clean, well kept property in a quiet setting yet close to town and shops. Phe and Ken personally welcomed us and the bottle of wine and warm freshly baked bread really added the personal touch. The kids (small and big) loved the animals on the farm and you can't beat the sweet smell of lavender that greets you every time you step out of the door!

We enjoyed our stay, welcome process was friendly and easy. The property is close to town. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the sheep. The accommodation was spacious and very clean, heating was available for cold evenings. This property is perfect for a quick country escape. The only let down was Millthorpe town is only open on weekends. So take all your food unless you do day trips and eat out in bigger towns like Orange.
