Ricardo is one of the most amazing hosts we’ve dealt with! He is always available and even started the dead battery in our rental car. The patio is the most beautiful and relaxing space. The apartment is delightful, the a/c and appliances are great! Highly recommended A++

We loved staying at Casa de Barrio. Wonderful neighborhood with good restaurants and shops! Ricardo was very responsive to all our needs! Stayed in the top floor with amazing views of Oaxaca mountains! People were so friendly and helpful. Will stay again

We had an enjoyable stay in all three apartments. It was nice having our group in all three because it could be noisy with a loud group as there is somewhat of a courtyard that is open to the first two floors. The terrace here was wonderful both in the evenings and mornings.
Ricardo the owner/ manager was more than helpful. He went beyond the call of duty to help us with the things we needed for our art retreat.

We had a great stay in Oaxaca. The apartment is located in very quiet and safe neighborhood. The apartment provided everything we needed for two of us. We had a rental car and we could easily park it behind the gate right in front of the property. We did not have to worry about possible scratches. The owner Ricardo was very approachable and attentive to all the questions we had.

Jalatlaco is the oldest neighborhood in Oaxaca. It has always been special, but has become even more vibrant in the past few years. There is plenty to eat nearby and it is walking distance from El Centro. The apartment is perfect for a couple. We also rent one of the 3 bedrooms for the rest of our family.

This is a very good place. It has a great patio with a view. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and the although the apartment could get hot, the ac and fans worked well to mitigate any discomfort. The laundry area was a great bonus. People have mentioned ants, which existed, but just make sure to keep all your food in bags. Yes, the kitchen is small, but I didn't really cook much as there are so many great restaurants nearby.
The really only complaint was the price, but anything in Jalatlaco is going to be pricey for the location and being a newly anointed Pueblo Magico neighbourhood.
Overall a great place to enjoy Oaxaca.

We were very happy staying here for two weeks. The terrace is a special treat, and Jalatlaco is a wonderful neighborhood of quiet streets filled with murals. It’s about a 25 minute walk from the Zocolo, but you can always catch a taxi back for 70 pesos.

I have stayed in this apartment several times. The neighborhood is beautiful and has a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and tiendas nearby. The Zócalo and pedestrian malls are walkable and Parque Llano is nearby also. The terrace is a delight both in the morning and at night. The apartment is super clean, comfortable and has a well equipped kitchen. Questions are answered promptly by the host. I hope to return to Oaxaca soon and look forward to staying at Ricardo's apartment again.

Two great weeks in Jalatlaco
Ricardo's apartment is all anyone could ask for a two-person stay. Clean, well-equipped, great location in a trendy but quiet traditional neighbourhood. Our Mexican friends were impressed!

We loved staying here...the view is awesome, the deck a wonderful space, and the barrio is delightful and convenient to the centro. We didn't realize it was 3 flights up (it's a triplex) but the view was worth it. Private parking a big plus as street parking limited. A few things need fixing: There are some holes in the wall where something once hung;; a picture missing off another wall (bare nail and another semi-patched hole); needs a new couch (the non leather one just collapses when sitting on it); needs more kitchen utensils; better bath towels; more kitchen towels. The kitchen is incredibly tiny but not a huge deal if you don't cook meals there. Fine for one person and breakfast/snacks. The shower head needs replacing...water just spurts out all over and the water pressure is poor, making it difficult to wash up. We are definitely coming back to this area but probably not to this space if we want to stay longer and prepare meals. But it served it's purpose for a few days stay.

A gem of a place, with inviting balcony from which to view the many bird species of Oaxaca.
Place was spotless, comfortable with a huge perfect bed.
Ricardo was very responsive to any questions we had and made our stay delightful.

I stayed at Ricardo's property in Jalatlaco for a week in December. This was my second visit. Ricardo is a very kind and helpful host. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. It is within walking distance of Santo Domingo, Macedonio Alcalá and the Zócalo. There are lots of great little restaurants and cafes to explore in Jalatlaco and the surrounding area. I hope to stay there again soon.

We had three generations of family on this trip, my 81 year old parents who stayed in the ground floor unit with my adult children, my brother's family with teenagers who stayed in the middle unit and my wife and I who stayed in the top floor unit. We spent many nights hanging out on the top floor terrace. Ricardo, who was very helpful, loaned us a large table which we used for a couple of dinners and game playing. The units were perfect for our stay and the Jalatlaco neighborhood is great and easy walk to the historic center. We highly recommend this place.

Oaxaca stay
The location was good. Some of the food was good. It rained most days. You would happen to do the things you wanted to do and then go to the apartment for the afternoons / evening.

Wonderful Experience
We stayed in Ricardo's 1 bed/1 bath and 3 bed/3bath and had an excellent time. My husband's family lives a few blocks away, so the location is perfect for us, but Jalatlaco is also a beautiful neighborhood and perfectly situated. The apartments were perfect for 5 18-21 year olds and my husband and I. They are comfortable, clean and equipped with what you need. Ricardo is an incredible host and is always extremely helpful. This is the second time we've stayed in his apartments and I have recommended them to many friends. We will be staying there whenever we visit Oaxaca!

We had great communication with Mr. Cuevas. He gave us ideas of things to do and waited for our arrival to give us the keys. The place is quaint, it was clean and had the necessary things for our 3 day stay. The neighborhood is gorgeous and people are friendly. It was easy to walk to the center and other historical sites. I highly recommend this place.

Nice Apartment, Great Location
This is a nice sun-drenched mountain-view apartment with a wonderful balcony in a beautiful historic neighborhood close to everything. Air-conditioned, the interior is pleasant even on the hottest days. Ricardo is a very nice man and a responsive and easy-to-reach landlord who quickly deals with any requests. The only downside to this apartment is that the kitchen is very small and will not suit those who plan on doing a lot of cooking. Otherwise, it's an excellent place to stay.

A nice apartment in Jalatlaco. A good location, walk everywhere..... hate to rate it so highly and increase demand!!

Rooftop paradise in Oaxaca
My wife and I enjoyed the Casa del Barrio (203 Aldama) and hospitality of the Cuevas family immensely. Despite a few minor irritations (low water pressure and a few non-biting ants) the apartment was ideal. Once adjusted to the small, but well-stocked kitchen, we enjoyed many home meals, took in the view on porch, then slept in a great king-size bed. All around a great place!

Loved our stay!
I was just as we expected! Ricardo was very easy to work with.

Perfect location! Great neighborhood!
We loved this quiet apartment in the friendly neighborhood of Jalatlaco. The terrace was a gueat spot for relaxing after daily walks to the center of the city. There are several nice cafes, restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Ricardo met us at check in and gave good directions to things to do in the city (bring your own map if you are not using your phone for navigation). The apartment is very comfortable with even a spot for washing and hanging clothes, This is definitely where we would stay if we visit Oaxaca again, very safe neighborhood and within safe walking distance to all the sights. Thanks Ricardo!

Quiet, great appartment for visiting Oaxaca
the apartment was clean, quiet, and close to the center of town. the neighborhood of Jalatlaco is a perfect location, close to a park and good restaurants.
Ricardo was very helpful in arranging transportation to the airport.

Perfect location
My husband and I were in Oaxaca so that I could attend Spanish language school. This property is within 10 or so minutes from downtown. Super convenient. The unit has a huge patio that we spent a lot of time on in the afternoon. It was a great place to be after a long day. The kitchen is super small, but honestly their are so many incredible and inexpensive restaurants nearby, I never felt the need to cook. I very much appreciated the laundry machine since our visit was for two weeks. We would totally stay here again! There is also a bottom unit(ours was the top) that is much larger that would be great for larger groups.

Upstairs Oaxaca 1 bedroom
The location is excellent and we did a lot of walking into town. The place is very secure and everything was there for breakfast cooking. Since we were there in August the top floor was extremely warm early on. There is an air conditioning unit in the bedroom and a fan in the living room but it wasn’t nearly enough. The bed is very comfortable. We had a challenge with ants anytime the food came out which the owner tried to resolve. What we really appreciated was the giant bottle of water provided in the kitchen. There are also lots of stairs going up to the unit that may. not be easy to navigate for some. The owner is wonderful and conscientious which was greatly appreciated.

lovely apartment in Jalatlaco
Ricardo was an excellent host, and the apartment was perfect for our needs: clean, quiet, and a perfect location to explore the center of the city or the very hip neighborhood of Jalatlaco.
4.8
Beautiful neighborhood, beautiful street, beautiful view, great apartment.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment is on Aldama, which is one of the most charming streets in an otherwise incredibly charming neighborhood: Barrio Jalatlaco. The room is on the top floor and has a HUGE patio with incredible views of the mountains and beautiful rooftop gardens all around. The room was comfortable and perfect for our visit.
The kitchen is small, so if you plan to cook a lot you may want to look into the 2nd floor apartment instead. I believe it has a bigger kitchen (but a much smaller patio). We ate out mostly (and why wouldn't you with an INCREDIBLE restaurant on every corner in the city???), so the small kitchen was a small price to pay for the huge, comfortable, patio.
The owner was very responsive to any needs we had. Once a week there was a cleaning service and fresh drinking water brought in, and he answered any questions or concerns we had during the stay.
We really enjoyed it here and would recommend.

Convenient and comfortable
Spacious, functional, with a lovely terrace, and in a great location: quiet but with easy access on foot to Oaxaca centre. Ricardo lives downstairs, speaks great English and was happy to help out with ordering a taxi to the bus station, for example.
4.8
Very comfortable apartment with full kitchen. Very quiet convenient neighborhood.
Great place for an extended stay in Oaxaca. Short walk to all the city has to offer. But at the end of the day a very quiet place to relax.
4.8
Location view and patio are great!
Great location and patio! Very comfortable king size bed. Laundry facility is handy. Ricardo was helpful, picked us up at the bus station, and kept us in fresh cool water.
Kitchen is well equipped but very small. One person at a time only.

Great Terrace. Modern Apartment.
A nice apartment located in a pleasant neighborhood. Ricardo was available to provide any help needed. I would recommend this apartment to friends.

Great Place, Great Location, very secure
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the place and location. It was within walking distance to the center on town and all the great coffee shops, restaurants and ATM's. Our accommodations were ample with a complete kitchen, two bathrooms and more than sufficient space and a great patio. I would definitly stay there again,

Perfect getaway in the heart of old Oaxaca
We enjoyed staying on the top floor and spending time dreaming on the balcony after walking all over the city. Casa del Barrio is in a perfect location near quaint restaurants, bakeries, shops, etc. It was so easy to get around on foot. Appreciated the king bed and lots of storage space, and Ricardo was very accommodating.

Nice place to stay, good area, close to everything
We were three people and so the space fit us perfectly. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom which afforded us the privacy we needed.
The space is cozy and clean. The location was excellent. Restaurants, parks, laundry, coffee shops all in very short walking distance. Although the private patio space was a little dark, we were able to put our lounge chairs out on the front patio, while we read or relaxed.
Ricardo was a good host and attended immediately to whatever we needed. He even drove me to buy a cane when my back went out.
I would stay at Casa del Barrio again, when I return to Oaxaca

Loved this place!
Absolutely loved our stay in this apartment. The location is great, we walked everywhere from here. The town Zocalo is a 15 minute easy walk. Actually everything is an easy walk from here. The town is colonial and lovely. To many restaurants to count. The food is fantastic! Friendly people everywhere. So much to see and do. Ruben, the owner is on site and very helpful. Answered any questions we had and made sure all our needs were met. Even had fresh fruit waiting for our arrival! Very secure property although we never felt unsafe anywhere in this town. Would definitely stay here again.
4.8
The property is in a good location, on a quiet street and well protected.
The first floor is fine. 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, and diningroom/living room. There is a patio with a hammock that is fairly dark and not great. Ricardo is nice, not overly helpful but organized and efficient. I would stay with him again.
4.8
Hope to come back soon!!! We had a great time
This was a perfect little spot so close to the central district. We were within walking distance to everything. Originally I didn't realize how close everything was but this little place put us close enough that we had no concerns. We felt safe and comfortably fit my family and 2 friends. Ricardo was a perfect landlord. He responded quickly to any issues that came up (my son locked us out of the room). His condo was well maintained and clean. The price was perfect for his little place. The only recommendation is that the little water heater be replaced soon as it could run out of hot water fairly quickly but to me that was only minor and appreciated every moment of our stay.
4.8
Everything was good except the kitchen needs more light and a dishwasher machine, bathrooms need something like a good glass door to avoid water to come out the showers. the rest of the place is good, Ricardo Cuevas is a very nice person and very knowledgeable about Oaxaca city. we loved the patio area too.
