The location and greenery on the site. The open areas
The facilities need an upgrade. Stone floor. The bathroom is a bit too basic

Great little guest house
Noisy on weekends

Kitchen is the only decent thing.
Took more than 40min to check-in. They lost my bedroom keys and then they closed it by accident.

Excellent hostel, very well located, clean, good WiFi, nice kitchen, well equipped. Everything you need for a budget place.

Nature backyard, location and helpful staff.

Value for money, good location, nice outdoor area to hang out and enjoy. Rooms had good WiFi.
The room was not that clean - we found items from previous guests that were not hygienic. During the night, some creature was trying to get into the room! The kitchen works but is basic (it could do with a few extra cutlery items).

Very good price. I got a very spacious room with a desk that was perfect for me.
The room smelled a little bad.

great location and value for money. Spacious room, kitchen was small but quiet and we could cook what we needed
One toilet far from the room

Valle Sagrado is a very nice Hostal in a perfect location in Vilcabamba..The Family who runs the place are very wonderful friendly people..

Economical. To me, this is what you expect from a Hostel. Inexpensive and bare bones. Room was clean and the linens fresh. That is all I needed.

Very nice hostel with many plants and trees around. Kept very clean, comfortable beds, 2 min walk away from the plaza and bus station. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Hot shower!
The kitchen could be equipped a bit better.

First, you need to know that there was nothing about the staff or the physical aspects of the hostel that were in anyway bad. It was exactly what I expected from an Ecuadorian hostel. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant next door served a good breakfast (not included by the way, which was not expected because the room was $20 a night). Do not hold any of my disappointment against the hotel itself. They were wonderful.
Ok, to be honest, I hated Vilcabama. It was like a Colorado town from the 70s that had been taken over by hippies. Really. That was fun when I was 19 but i went to Ecuador to see Ecuador, not the New United States. There are way too many Americans there for me. I love the Ecuadorian people. I love Ecuador. It's why I go there whenever I can. I'm sure there are many people who love this town but we aren't among them. I had been urged to visit Vilcabama by many ex-pats. But, it's not for us. Second, while the hostel was good, our next door neighbor smoked pot all day and night which i don't really care about except his door was always open and the smell in our room was constant. It is also on us that we got there on a Wednesday which is open mike night at the pubs on either side of our room. Until midnight we had competing bands and singers coming at us through the opposing windows. Some were actually quite good. But, it was impossible to separate them. Who knows? If we had been there on another night, our experience could have been very different. The hostel is right on the main road as well so the sound of semis was constant throughout the night, but i knew that beforehand and expected it. Just FYI. We sacrificed the $40 for the next two nights and got the hell out of there and went back to Loja and our apartment.

Very spacious room. Decent communal kitchen. Great location!
The shared bathroom felt quite far from the room and shared between a lot of people so often not free.

The room was verry basic no frills and only 2 plugs in one spot in room wires were outside walls so not good for kids but it served purpose of a place to sleep.location was good in town along main road with secured parking.
Room was basic but good it served the purpose..however we were rather unhappy to be killing cockroaches before bed but we were saved the hastle of disposing of bodies as the ants removed them before morning.shower heat was verry unreliable .depending on time of day water pressure reaked havock on shower heat

Great budget option for travelers. Conveniently located near the parque central, local and tourist restaurants, pharmacies, bus terminam, walking trails, etc. Lots of balconies and outdoor seating overlooking the nice grounds and gardens. There are many windows, which was nice!
Owners are very friendly. Bonus: there is a small shared kitchen for simple meal prep and making coffee.
Our upstairs corner room was a little noisy with street traffic (the hostal faces the main road) but it does quiet down quite a bit at night.
Adding a bedside lamp on the table would be great. The bare overhead bulb is pretty intense.

Good value for the money. It isn't the nicest place, but it is cheap.
The staff are great.
The food in the adjoining restaurant was tasty and convenient.
It didn't fall down on us during the earthquake.
Great location for exploring the village.
Shower in the room wasn't hot.

Nice rooms, but a little loud on weekends. During the week, I cannot say, we just spent Saturday night. But the staff is kind and very helpful. It also seems to be a place for local people to go to.

The beds were awesome! Staff was very nice. Location just a couple blocks from the bus terminal and a block from the town center. Great value for a short stay. Attached restaurant.
The entry door was less than 6ft tall. The other rooms had normal height doors. We are not fans of electric showers.
10.0
The staff are nice. The facilities. It attracts good people and it is a fair hostel price, the best in Vilcabamba; more like what you will find in the bigger cities. The kitchen is a bonus and the outdoors area are wide open spaces, nice for relaxing.
Nothing to dislike.

The family that runs this business are nice people, they are kind and always attended to my needs and questions when I had any. They maintain the place clean and in order. Don't expect a high level of service though, this is a low budget type of place but there's everything one needs to live decently, plus a chill atmosphere.
The bathrooms are clean but there are only two, so sometimes you'll have to wait.
Kitchen sometimes lacks h
ygiene, mostly due to guests I think.

No breakfast. Good location near center.
Bit run down, mostly a backpackers place to sleep and hang out.
