The cabins are situated in a beautiful space, right by the river. You are trully in nature, whilst being a short, beautiful walk from amazing Vilcabamba.
The cabins are beautifully designed, and have everything you require to be comfortable - kitchen equipment, comfortable beds, delicious water.
The hosts are really friendly and responsive.
I recommend staying here.

We loved Rumi Wilco. The whole project is done with a lot of attention and care. You can sense the love that Alicia and Orlando have for their land and the project in the details. There is small letter signs with the names of the plants of the area, all the paths are well cleared from herbs and plants, there is cute designated bathing spots that connect the path with the river that goes along the whole terrain.
In the room itself you will find a simple but very careful environment made of wood entirely. The wood is from local forests, it is all very precise. In the kitchen each cup has a hook to hang from. It has the precision of a camping gear, or the sensibility of a father that loves to build.
Everything was very clean, there is hot water for the shower, there is hooks to scroll, there is a map to visit the reserve, there is recommendations on how to heal somethings with local herbs. There is also a small selection of things that are made by them. Locally grown, dried and grinded coffee. Some jams with fruits from their land.
Around the cabins there is grass to allow for camping. This also allows for star gazing. The area has lots of butterflies. Is a perfect place to stay for a long time, to enjoy the cabin and the reserve. To mix both resting and active visits.
There is a tiny hill to enter/exit with the car. Regarding comfort I really didn’t mind going through it, but I realize later on that the car got exhausted and it stayed with a strange sound after we went out. I might need to take it to the mechanic :(

The beautiful cabin was well-equipped and a welcome haven away from traffic and crowds. The staff were fantastic. It’s always great having a river right outside for a morning dip.
It is a bit of a trek from the centre of town, especially with heavy bags, and we didn’t find it easy to find (I got completely lost trying to find it in the dark!) but it is worth the extra effort.

Very nice contact to Alicia. Acc. is in nature reserve with hiking possibilities and only 10min walking to the center of Vilcabamba. River closeby to jump in. Nice basic room and shared kitchen and terrace. Hammock to chillout. It's a quiet place with only nature sound.

The host, Alicia, is very nice. The trails on the property are very good! I would return to this place.

The adobe walls create a good sense inside the room. The area is remote and quiet at night. The wifi signal remained strong all the time.
Rumi Wilco has two separate parts. The rooms are by the road at the entrance, while the cabins and camping area are inside the nature reserve. So the comments on booking.com mostly pertain to the cabins, which must be better than the rooms. The rooms themselves are okay although the mattresses measure 10 cm thick and are old. There is direct communication to the outdoors and no screens, so ask for a mosquito net (although it seemed as though the area mostly has daytime mosquitoes). The bathrooms are outhouses; you have walk outdoors to get to them. There is no soap and the hostess told me to get my own in town, a half mile away. You need a flashlight or headlamp at night. One outhouse has no sink, just a water spigot to wash your hands; the other has a water spigot with a crude concrete sink. The kitchen seemed fine. Guests keep to themselves. The view was unattractive: a van parked next to an unfinished concrete building with exposed rebar iron. The bathrooms had lots of spider webs with spiders. I'm not sure why the owners did not clean them away. The hot water heaters are the type that sit above the shower head. I'm not sure if they worked; I skipped the shower. My experience with that type of heater is that they don't heat the water much. I paid $25 a night on Friday and Saturday. I noticed weekdays go for $13. For $25 a night, you can find better options.

As always worth a visit! :) this place is beautifully nestled into a lush and abundant reserve with hiking paths. Alicia, the owner is such a lovely spirit, very considerate and welcoming, and also sharing about biology and her research.
Thanks you again for a beautiful and relaxing stay.
I enjoyed my stay and don't have anything to complain about.

Alicia, one of the owners, is a fabulous host. The nature reserve is beautiful and enchanting. An immersive experience perfect for those who love nature. Staying there also supports their noble cause of preserving the natrual habitat.

Lush green and abundant surroundings, quiet enough at night and with beautiful hiking trails starting right next to the rooms.
Also I think it's worth talking a bit more with the hosts, who have a lot of knowledge about the place and land. I would have loved to have heard more, but maybe another time. :)
Thank you Alicia, we enjoyed our stay so much!

A rustic place away from the village, different types of options from basic to amazing cabins equipped with everything. I chose a basic option which came with shared facilities. Kitchen has all the necessary things and Alicia will give you advise for anything you need!

Safari style individual cabins along the river adjoining a nature reserve. Spiritual.
The cabin had everything we needed. The coffee they pick, roast and sell is wonderful.
Booked for two days, stayed 19.
The shared accommodations should be more clean. We stayed one night there.

It's great to be in the forest amidst walking trails with the river rushing near, at a short distance from the town which is a bit crazy and noisy at times. The facilities are really good and I extended my stay for a couple more days as you really feel you're taking a break from everything.
There's nothing to dislike in this little piece of paradise...
