About this chalet rental
Includes all comforts of modern living, this is the place to either get away from it all, or to celebrate an unforgettable get-together with friends and family.
Le Colibri offers arguably the most spectacular views in the Catskills. The photos give you a sense, but to really appreciate their splendor you have to come and see for yourself - you are sitting on the top of the world.
The only other sign of civilization are some sparkling lights at night, on Overlook Mountain, across the valley. Nobody can see you, and you are surrounded by nature's splendor. Le Colibri is what you hope to find after a long hike - except here you arrive via a private, majestic drive-way.
We cherish Le Colibri paradox: Even though you are fully immersed in nature, you are only a three minute drive away from enchanting Woodstock. The village is welcoming and fun in its decidedly alternative spirit. Good restaurants, cafes and boutiques abound, the pace is leisurely and the people of Woodstock are chatty. Enjoy a stroll down Tinker Street while listening to live music and relishing the town's 'Sixties' spirit, all the while spotting the occasional celebrity - back in the day Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston would summer down the road from Le Colibri. Woodstock is the home of many artists and musicians and increasingly being discovered by the hip and trendy. So whether you just want to buy the paper in the morning, dip down to town for a lunch or dinner, or knock on Valerie's door to pick-up a home-baked strawberry-rhubarb pie, the village is right there for you, and who knows who you might bump into?
Le Colibri consists of a three-story Main House and a separate two story Spa House. The two are connected by a large deck featuring a generous pool (open from mid-May through Nov. 1st). The pool is heated, but the seasons dictate the pool temperature, so before July 1st and after September 15th only the hearty souls swim. The deck is made of high-end composite - so no splinters! - and features a large grill station. The grill is connected to the house gas, so no fiddling with gas bottles or worrying about running out of gas. The deck furniture includes two mahogany pool lounges, a dining table with a large umbrella, an Adirondack seating group for four and a hammock.
The entrance to the Main House welcomes you with its cathedral ceiling. There is a comfortable bench where you can take off your boots in the winter, and store your ski equipment in the adjacent, generously proportioned closet.
Off the entrance is the entertainment room, with a working fireplace, a brand new 60' Samsung HD TV, couches, an alcoved home office (with our powerful wireless router), a wide-plank wooden floor, and a terrace to sit and enjoy the view.
Behind the entertainment room is the ground floor bedroom featuring French doors and a hand-made, solid cherry Le Grange bed with an adjunct Porcelanosa bathroom, turning this into a lovely mini-suite.
A grand staircase leads up to the second floor, opening onto the living room which has a another working fireplace, an ample leather couch and chairs, a music and library alcove and magnificent views.
The living room opens onto the generous kitchen with its modern appliances, including an induction stove-top, an oven and two refrigerators (main and beverages). The kitchen is fully equipped, and has ample cabinet space. It is framed by a counter island with high-chair seating for four, and a dining alcove with a beautiful dining table and spectacular mountain views.
Also off the living room is a wooden terrace, the perfect place to sit in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise over the Hudson Valley. On clear days you can see as far as the Berkshires - we are in the Catskills!
Behind the living room are two lovely bedrooms. One features a charming four-post Queen-size bed (shown in the photos) and looks out over the pool area. The bedroom next to it is the same size (also with a Queen size bed) and looks onto the garden and Bocci court. The second bathroom (shown), with its modern design, is right across from the bedrooms.
A spiral staircase brings you up to the generously proportioned Master Bedroom under the roof. The MB features a new, natural-fiber King size mattress (all mattresses in the house are new and natural fiber), ample closet and storage space and a TV. En suite is the beautiful and bright Master Bathroom with a bubble-stream tub and a natural-light flooded shower.
Making your way back down and across the pool deck will take you to the Spa-House - and here you are in for a treat, the piece-de-resistance! The grand room is dominated by luxurious leather couches and walls of windows granting 180 degree views. Sink into these chairs with a good glass of wine and you know that this world is not such a bad place after all. In the summer you can open four large French doors and enjoy the breeze and the sound of silence - or listen to your favorite music on the ample stereo system. The grand room of the Spa House has its own terrace with a full range of magnificent Catskill mountains views.
Downstairs from the grand room is the large, fully tiled garage. The original owner of the property, a modern gentleman, kept his 1976 Rolls Royce convertible here. You can still use it as a garage, especially in the winter. But chances are, you will have too much fun playing pool on the perfectly kept pool table or exercising on the gym equipment to even notice that it is meant as a garage.
Outside you'll find a vast, open lawn with two beautiful birch trees, tremendous oak trees standing sentinel, and of course the stroll down to our private pond.
The pond is situated in the lower part of the property, almost tucked away, and very much in its own, unperturbed world. This is the magic garden where you expect a fairy to whisper sweet secrets into your ear at any moment. Take the kids for a row boat ride on the pond. Watch the leisurely gold fish. Have a picnic at the shaded table with your bare feet caressed by the deep, lush moss. Feel eternity and timelessness.
Back at the house, the Bocci court beckons, and the beautiful garden. But maybe your favorite thing to do will be to sit on the cushions by the outdoor fire pit, see the sparks fly into night and take in the glow of the mountains.
Winter:
Skiing: Hunter and Belleayre 30-40 minutes drive.
Magnificent cross-country trails nearby.
Please note that the drive-way is sloped. While we will have it plowed and sanded for you, please be prepared and bring snow chains for your tires.

This was our second time staying and it was very enjoyable. You can not describe the views from anywhere on the property and inside the house. Very beautiful and relaxing week for us. It was very easy to stop into town only a little over a mile away. Looking forward to staying again next year.

The place was great! The owners and property managers were well organized, the home was exactly what we were hoping for and more, and we can’t wait to come back someday.

This was our 2nd time staying at the house. You can’t beat the location and views. We had 3 generations at the house, everyone enjoyed themselves from lounging by the pool or looking for frogs down by the pond. Something for everyone, we will definitely be returning again.

This house is situated on the most beautiful and tranquil property. It provides so many spaces to relax and listen to the birds and enjoy the view, with plenty of shade as well as sunny areas. Communication was excellent. Beds super comfy. Packed with everything we needed in the kitchen. And a few minutes drive to town. It's a special place and we highly recommend it.

The view alone was worth the cost. A very peaceful and restful home located close to town - we loved every minute.

We had an utterly lovely stay at this beautiful home. The main house was large, airy, light-filled, but still cozy & boasted views to die for from every room. The spa house was our favorite place to hang out – a full gym for my hubby, the pool table, Steinway piano, & Fender guitar for the boys and for me – well the entire second floor – floor to ceiling windows overlooking the majestic Catskill mountains (and all the way to the Berkshires), a record player & record collector even Harvey Specter would be envious of, and walls and walls of books! Because of abundance of stunning views from both houses, we didn’t have to leave the property to enjoy the Catskills – which came in helpful when it rained or when we couldn’t tear our boys away from the pool table! The kitchen was the perfect size and well-stocked and the dine in nook felt like it was tucked into the woods. My husband and I enjoyed our morning coffee and afternoon wine from all the lovely balconies. The seating everywhere was so comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. We loved watching movies at night downstairs on the comfortable leather sofa with the massive TV screen. The house was just perfect, and we hope to stay again, maybe in the summer when we can enjoy the pool and deck with the views. The proximity to the heart of Woodstock & Tinker St was another pleasant surprise – lots of great dining nearby! Rachel was amazing to work with – very pleasant, extremely accommodating & super responsive! Don’t hesitate to stay here!

The place is extremely private with breath taking views. 5 minutes from town. The Spa house was a great place to relax or workout. There was not a spot on the property or in the house that you didn’t have an amazing view. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan on returning.

Just what we needed
Beautiful property only 5 minutes from downtown Woodstock. The views are stunning and the pool was so relaxing. The property was perfect for our family of 6 adults and the spa house is an added bonus. The owner was very responsive. We would love to stay again!

Beautiful Views!
My family and I had a wonderful stay here - the house was perfect, with great views of the mountains. The pool area was awesome and again had fabulous views. Our favorite was the pool house with a huge record collection and library. We escaped there at night while our kids were sleeping to play games and listen to old records watching the sunset. Would definitely go back!

Amazing
Peaceful Setene and majestic The view alone was worth the price. The music station was like no other we were so disappointed that we lost it coming into NJ. The pool was wonderful and soothing. All the bedrooms were spacious and air-conditioned. The Spa room had exercise gear and a piano in the same room . I played the piano since I am a musician and it was in tune and sounded incredible. Upstairs they had fantastic record collection and very eclectic. It had Jazz Rock Funk Classical Blues pop. Something for everyone. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook. The showers were the right temperature. We played bocci ball and we lost in a tight game with my daughter and her fiancee. But I crushed them at the game Risk. The view was just magnificent unlike anything I ever saw. Just beautiful. Its about 5min from downtown Woodstock. I had a chance to play at the Ulster community event where they were giving out free food. I managed to get gig there!! I am so glad we booked this instead if a cruise. We are coming back next year with about 8 people. Oh I forgot there is a beautiful pond nearby if you want to fish. There were kinds of things available that you could see they really paid attention to detail and you as customer. Everything you needed to know was in a booklet that explained how use the stereo the TV. There pool lights for night swimming and the pool is saltwater and solar heated. I cant say enough great things about the chalet except we will be back next year. We cooked outside on the grill which was easy to use. Oh and the Buddah statues and African chairs also the wind chimes outside gave it nice touch. It was a great time and we will be back!!

Fall Fantasy
We spent a wonderful long weekend with our children and grandchildren. The view is incredible from many indoor and outdoor seating options. The weather was great so we were able to enjoy the outdoor pool and bocci courts. The house is beautiful and we especially enjoyed the spa house and the music collection.

Location, Location, Location….But…
The location of this property was spectacular. There were lots of outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the view. The Spa House was our favorite space to relax in. Great music selection and a wonderful spot to do yoga.
The Main House was disappointing especially for the rate per night that we paid. The home is not well taken care of and needs some sprucing up. There are too many things to mention in this review.
If improvements are made this home would be well worth the money.

The home is like staying at a resort the pool is fantastic and having a second house with pool table, gym and more was so special. Absolutely gorgeous views and meticulous landscaping. Spiral staircases are not for me and can use updates but we loved it.

A Resort in a Home!
Inground pool in a beautiful mountain setting. Beautiful grounds to explore.... small trails, a pond with rowboats and a Bocci ball court. The home is spacious, woodsy and artsy. Loved the mountain room with albums to spin, the gym and pool table. Smaller balcony off kitchen was a favorite morning coffee spot. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Magnificent Views
It was such a pleasure staying at this property. This home boasts some of the Best Views in the Catskills. We saw as far the Berkshires and Vermont. We were lucky enough to be staying here during some a moon and the pictures we took are amazing. The town of Woodstock is one of the nicest little Upstate NY towns by far. Very hospitable especially during these covid times we are in. This home is quite unique, with plenty of space for all to enjoy. We stayed in December, but I would imagine it would be even lovelier here in the warmer months, having the pool and lake below the property. We especially enjoyed our time in the second part of the property, listening to music and playing games. The views from this room were breathtaking. All of the bedrooms were furnished with lovely linens and furnishings. Bathrooms, all quite nice for sure. The kitchen and dining area were very spacious as well. Communication with booking and check in all went smoothly. Overall, anyone looking to stay in the Woodstock area, should highly consider this property. If we had one negative thing to say, it would be that the main house was not quite as clean as we would have liked it to be. Upon arrival, there were counters and floors that we needed to clean first before we even unpacked our belongings. That being said, it was a wonderful time away and we would definitely go back. Stay well :)

This was my second stay at the property and it was even more wonderful this time around. The views are incredible, the house is well appointed and comfortable. Our group enjoyed the pool, the fire pit, the pool table, the grill, bocci court, pond and row boat. There are so many spaces and things at this property to enjoy! Can’t wait to come back.

Immaculate chalet with stunning views
Le Colibri offered us the perfect family getaway. We started to relax and enjoying ourselves from the moment we arrived. The views are amazing whether you are in the house, pool area or recreation house. We spent hours at the pool and were in the center of beautiful natural and landscaped surroundings. We even caught fish in the pond on the home's premises. We loved the privacy and fact we were also so close to town and recreational options. Rachel was always helpful and available whenever we had any questions. Thank you for a relaxing time at the chalet. We plan on returning.

Music and nature perfect in synchrony
Beautiful property, truly unique construction and attention to detail. Sprawling views in most rooms, and spa/side house was a real treat for those in the group that wanted to stay up and enjoy the phenomenal record collection without waking up those who were sleeping in the main house. Will definitely be back, ideally when the pool is open (or if a hot tub is added!). Highly recommended.

Luxurious and secluded
This was a perfect getaway for our family of four. The grounds are beautiful and felt very secluded, yet we were only minutes from the charming town of Woodstock. The house is well-stocked and includes so many amenities. Some days we just stayed home because there was so much to enjoy right on the property!

We come back every summer
This summer was our 5th year staying here. I can't say enough amazing things about this home. The house has plenty of towels; a fully stocked kitchen; comfortable beds and lovely clean bedding; spacious, clean bedrooms and bathrooms. The views are unreal - I could sit outside and stare at the mountains all day. You'll feel completely private up at the house ... and you'll love being just a hop and a jump away from the lovely town of Woodstock. Goetz (owner) and Rachel (manager) are very attentive and wonderful people. Throughout our stay, we have friends and family over for memory-making country fun - the kids catch frogs in the pond and swim in the pool all day; the adults play bocce ball, lounge by the pool, and cook in the roomy kitchen; and we all get together for nights by the fire pit watching all of the meteor showers - coming from Manhattan, the number of stars is just astounding. There is plenty of space to entertain or hide away for quiet time. The spa house is a favorite for listening to music or reading. The kids go in there for crafts too. It's also a quiet place to hide if you have to sneak some work time in to your vacation (which my husband and I always do). We all love seeing the wildlife that visit regularly - hummingbirds, deer, wild turkeys, badger, butterflies, so many birds, bats. The kids collected huge bugs down by the pond that they thought were truly fascinating. You are less than 2 miles from town (<5 min drive) where there are ample markets for great fresh produce (SunFrost Farms and Sunflower Market), wonderful restaurants (we eat at Oriole 9, Shindig, Joshua's, Cucina, Catskill Mountain Pizza every year). This summer we fell in love with coffee and bagels at The Mud Club, and there is also Bread Alone for coffee, breads and pastries. A little further towards Saugerties you have the amazing Red Onion. Shopping is great too - Tinkey Toys Too and Woodstock Bring Your Own rival any of the amazing spots we have here in Manhattan. All in all, stay here. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing chalet, location and hosts!
Our family of five stayed at Le Colobri for 3 nights in April 2019 and loved every minute of it.
The chalet is incredibly well located with views for miles over the mountains. Yet just a short distance to Woodstock. Everything was exactly as described and immaculately clean. The chalet is enormous with lots of living and relaxing areas and the huge wooden floored studio room in the adjoining spa/gym building became my personal yoga studio for 3 days!
The master bedroom is a real treat with a king size bed and comfy mattress and all the other bedrooms are comfortable and private with plenty of space for a large family.
Rachel and Goetz we’re incredibly responsive, friendly and helpful. We are already planning our next trip!

Picture perfect experience
I don't write reviews too often but feel compelled to here. Not only was the property breathtaking and picture perfect but the owner was so friendly, responsive and accommodating. We had an amazing family vacation here. The property is huge and the grounds are amazing. The books and records they have make it so interesting and made it so fun to browse. The kitchen is super well stocked. The TV, board games, lake with boats and entertainment was perfect. The location and easy access to Woodstock and grocery stores made it so easy to be far away from the crowds but so close to amenities. We will return.....

The property was beautiful and everyone in my party enjoyed the stay. The spa house is the highlight, with wonderful views and a relaxing atmosphere.
Rachel was extremely helpful. Even after checking out, she mailed a pair of glasses that we accidentally left there. Thanks for the memories and wonderful time!
