Atemberaubend.

Schöne Einrichtung. Super nettes Personal. Ruhige Lage. Wir hatten das Zimmer Charf mit Blick auf das Meer. Einfach paradiesisch.

Sehr steile Stiegen. Koffern wurden glücklicherweise ins Zimmer getragen. Danke nochmals.

A wonderful place in the Kasbah, Tangier !!

The breakfasts were exceptional !! Among the best we’ve had. - The staff were great.

Very nice property but had some service issues

There's a lot to like about Dar Sultan - an excellent and quiet location in the Kasbah, convenient for exploring the Medina on foot, great views from the rooftop, rooms have a lot of charm and character. We really enjoyed the Charf room and found it was well worth the additional cost - the private patio was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. Breakfast was fresh and very good.

Unfortunately, there seemed to be some staffing issues during our stay. There were different staff on duty at different times, some of whom were a bit difficult to communicate with and we weren't sure if our requests regarding checkout and transportation at the end of our stay were being understood and communicated to the other staff. But the biggest issue was that guests aren't given a key to the building or a contact phone, and even though we were told that staff would be on site 24/7, this wasn't the case and three different times we arrived and found no one there to let us in - the last night returning late after dinner we and another couple had to wait in the alley after dark close to a half hour before someone arrived to unlock the door. This is really unacceptable, especially at this price range, and really too bad as everything else about this place is very nice. Also of note, some reviewers indicated that dinner was offered in the hotel, but this wasn't offered during our stay.

Don’t think of staying anywhere else in Tangier.

Absolutely everything. The comfort. The location in the heart of the Kasbah. The decor. The warm hospitality of our hosts, Jean Pierre and Maite. The friendly helpful staff.

It was like staying in a magical palace. It transported me right back in time. A special thanks to Hajar, Ismail & Yassine. The touch to detail was sublime. Moroccan tea was offered throughout stay. Breakfast was amazing. Local fresh produce served everyday. A special shoutout to Yasmine the cat! A special spirit. We home to return. Merci beaucoup!

Great location, great breakfast, great price

Super lovely and attentive staff, delicious breakfast, and great location. The rooms were beautiful — there were flower petals and Moroccan black soap in our bathroom.

There are also some pet cats in the riad, so if you're afraid of cats, this isn't the place for you

Very good

This indeed is a very old house in the Casbah of the Medina - the oldest part of the town. They have transformed it into what we would call in the US a bed and breakfast. The decorations are awesome with little things to look at all around. There were many people that worked there and they were so helpful and concerned about our every need. When we arrived all tired from the trip they immediately offered us tea on the roof deck and that was so comforting.

Be aware as this is in the part of the old city where you cannot drive to. It is a short two minute walk if you get a taxi from where you get dropped off to the hotel, if the taxi knows the right place. If not it is a five minute walk straight up the hill!

Wonderful staff, excellent recommendations, amazing breakfast, fascinating interiors, and gorgeous private outdoor patio off our room. I highly recommend Dar Sultan.

The shower was very cramped and the shower floor felt like there were either loose tiles or grout. The room was quite small, but we knew to expect that and understood that the hotel is in a remodeled 300 year old building.

Exceptional

Perfect! Dar Sultan is located right in the heart if the Kasbah, the best part of the city! It is within walking distance to our favorite places in town. The place itself is simply stunning. A hidden palace in the tiny streets of the old town. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was stellar. One of the best we've ever had.

It wasn't an issue for us, but there isn't any elevator to access the rooms and the staircase is quite narrow.

A dreamlike experience

We absolutely loved our stay at Dar Sultan: everything was fantastic, from the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, manager and staff to the decor and cleanliness of the rooms. Ours had a beautiful private terrace overlooking the gulf of Tangiers. A quiet and magic place, one of the best accommodations we ever encountered in our very frequent travels. Highly recommended!

This was in no way a negative point for us, but if you’re allergic to cats keep in mind Dar Sultan has two of them. They are very friendly and well-educated and mostly stick to the common area downstairs, far from the rooms.

The staff were so gracious and helpful, the hotel is stunning, and we loved staying in the Kasbah!

Absolutely stunning hotel, gorgeous accommodation with vibrant colors, beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. Our room and every room in Dar Sultan is fabulous. It was a treat to stay here for our time in Tangier - is highly recommend it!

Mattresses in our room could’ve been more comfortable but we had no trouble sleeping.

Perfect Stay in Tangier...Great Staff, Great Location

A wonderful, beautifully decorated property with incredible views of the bay and Tangier. We had a terrific 3-night stay and must report that the staff is magnificent. Breakfast on our terrace was luxurious and truly great. The Dar Sultan is very close to a large selection of shops and small restaurants as you walk down the steep hill toward the Grand Socco. If the daunting hills are too much, it's easy to reach by taxi! It is well located, too, for a lovely walk along the Corniche. Highly, highly recommended. Location, service with a smile...and that breakfast!

Dar Sultan is located at the top of the old part of town, very close to a viewpoint overlooking the port and the bay. From there you can walk to the medina and the beach. There are many options for food within a few minutes' walk. The area is calm and the breakfast very good, served on the terrace. The staff were wonderful.

Amazing hospitality and peaceful rooftop room

We stayed on the upper room on rooftop with terrace. Amazing view and vibe! The team Nadia and Ismail were fantastic, real hospitality that made us feel at home. All alcohol free drinks are complimentary. Definitely recommended if you wanna experience a true Moroccan hospitality experience in a peaceful oasis overview the Bay of Tangier, a real feeling of freedom!

So overpriced and unprofessional

The staff was nice.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the room was very dark and there was no A/C so I had to leave the windows open and kept smelling all the outside smells like fish. I was also told on the first night, that they couldn’t accommodate me on the second night as the hotel was overbooked. I had already spoken to booking the next morning and was told that the hotel even confirmed, that that was the situation. After I spent the next day looking for a new hotel, all of a sudden they did have cancellation and therefore a room for me. I still wanted ti cancel because I had already packed and looked for a new place. However the hotel wouldn’t let me cancel and the owner insisted on me staying another night. This was extremely unprofessional and rude. Would not recommend this place.
