About this house rental
Located in downtown Dundee – the heart of Willamette Valley’s renowned wine country – with numerous vineyards, tasting rooms and several popular restaurants within a ~.3 - 1 mile distance!
Home to many award winning wineries that contribute to this area’s world class standing in the global wine community, Dundee sits ~25 miles southwest of Portland and ~55 miles east of the Oregon Coastline – making it a great central base for visiting some of Oregon’s treasured places, sights and activities.
About Our B&B Guest Suite:
Sitting in the very center of everything to do with Dundee, our B&B guest suite entails the fully secluded lower level of our custom home. It's ~1,000 sq ft and locked off from the upper level – creating 100% privacy between floors. And it has private access via the back yard which is also dedicated for our guests to enjoy on their own.
Interior details:
*Two bedrooms w/ queen beds, quality mattresses, pillows, sheets and bed covers.
*Double-sink bathroom w/ tub and shower, and stocked with key toiletries and luxury cotton towels.
*Nicely appointed central living area w/ a gas fireplace, Italian leather sectional, casual dinette area (no cooking/sink facilities), mini-fridge, microwave oven, and plenty of tableware, wine glasses, etc.
*And we keep the whole place sparkling clean!
Back Yard:
The back yard has an open seating area and an outside dining area, both with slight views toward the southeast hills. (The sun hits the open seating area in the morning and falls behind it late afternoon which coordinates with a.m. coffee and p.m. relaxation times. At night this area is illuminated by ground lights, making for an ongoing comfortable setting.)
Food and other goodies:
There’s assorted Keurig coffees and tea, muffins, yogurt, granola, and chilled water to jump start your day. Soft blankets are provided for evening downtime along with some board games and a selection of movies on DVD’s.
Guest feedback:
We've had guests comment our place is a nice setting for those that enjoy the ability to walk to town in a matter of minutes, dine (and drink!) at our neighborhood restaurants versus cook on their own, and also enjoy the evening quietness that comes with being a few blocks away from Hwy 99. We share this feedback in the spirit of helping others assess their needs.
Other things to note:
Overall, our place is a pretty quiet setting (no kids or dogs) though we do have a couple cats, so it’s possible you might hear some little paws on the move once in a while. And while our guest suite and backyard are both dedicated for our guests to unwind on their own, we’re always available if we’re needed for anything!
Parking: There’s parking for two vehicles on an extended private driveway.
Helpful notes: Inside the space there will be a welcome letter with brief notes to help you settle in.
Housekeeping: During your stay we only enter the space to replace tableware and replenish breakfast items. All other housekeeping needs are left to our guests’ personal efforts which are greatly appreciated. (Please note we have a 'shoes off' policy. Though older, the carpeting has been professionally cleaned and we strive to keep it clean for all future guests!)
For guidance toward wineries and restaurants to visit:
The Willamette Valley is home to ~500 wineries segmented into five distinct wine growing regions: Dundee Hills; Yamhill-Carlton; Eola-Amity Hills; McMinnville; Ribbon Ridge; and Chehalem Mountains. We provide a handout covering what we and our friends humbly suggest is a “preferred ~30 starter plan” that includes all five of these regions, and along with tasting facilities, also entails some vineyards and wine production facilities. This list considers wine quality/value, views/scenery, and overall potential for a fun visit. Six entries on this list are within 1.5 miles from us. (We also provide an information binder that notes local restaurants, convenience stores, etc., and we’re happy to offer suggestions toward any other aspect of your visit.)
(Regarding instant booking settings: Please note we have ‘instant booking’ set up only for reservations 5 plus days out simply because we can’t guarantee immediate availability, though we’re usually able to accommodate reservation requests with 48-72 hours lead time.)
Our neighborhood:
Surrounded by vineyards, our location sits right up the street from the center of town – and perhaps its greatest amenity is its “walkability factor” to the neighborhood restaurants and wine tasting rooms. (As outlined in the following section.)
It’s also a nice neighborhood for walks among the residential streets with some viewpoints of the southeast hills – which on clear days include views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, and the nearby Parrett Mountain hillside. (This might be particularly attractive for anyone who may wish to start or finish their day with some quick exercise.)
And there’s deer – quite a few of them – walking our streets on a daily basis; so you have a fair chance of coming across them at any time. They are friendly and used to hanging out in our neighborhood!
Getting around:
As earlier noted, with the vast amount of wineries throughout the Willamette Valley, there’s endless journeys one can organize, though this requires vehicle transportation as Dundee does not have public transit. (For those looking to cover a lot of ground, there are helicopter-based wine tours that may be worth exploring.)
You can learn more about the five distinct wine growing regions and all the wineries involved by visiting the websites for “Willamette Wines” and “Oregon Wine Press.” The “Willamette Wines” site also has a page that covers tours/drivers throughout the area.
Meanwhile, there are ~20 tasting rooms (some include vineyards/wine production facilities) and several popular restaurants within 1.5 miles from our location:
Tasting rooms:
.4 miles: Antica Terra, Domaine Trouvere, Methven Family / .5 miles: Argyle, Chapter 24, Fox Farm, Alit, Dobbs Family Estate / .6 miles: Hawkins Cellars, Zerba Cellars / .7 miles: Cameron / .8 miles: Evening Land, Le Cadeau, Domaine Roy, Tertulia Cellars, Purple Hands, Angela Estate / .9 miles: Furioso, Four Graces / 1.1 miles: Dusty Goose / 1.3 miles: Hyland Estates / 1.4 miles: Winderlea
Restaurants:
.4 miles: Red Hills Market, Dundee Bistro, Dundee Bistro Wine & Bubble Bar, Tina’s / .5 miles: Red Hills Provincial, La Sierra Grill / .8 miles: Babica Hen Cafe, Chan’s.
Beyond these places, and beyond the world of wine, greater Dundee and the Willamette Valley offer a vast array of restaurants, events, and sights to take in. Also from our location, downtown Newberg is just 2.8 miles and it has some nice restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms. And ~12 miles in the opposite direction lie the cities of McMinnville and Carlton – offering more restaurants, shops, wine tasting, breweries, etc., … making for further great places to walk around!

We had a great stay celebrating our anniversary in Dundee at Donna and Don’s VRBO. The location was great and the space was very clean. The backyard was amazing for breakfast with the sunrise over the valley and evenings with a glass of wine. Donna was extremely helpful with suggestions and information about wineries and restaurants. We would definitely recommend this space for a getaway to the Willamette Valley!

We did not have a good stay here. We thought when we were reserving a house that we were getting the whole house but the space is a converted basement of the owners home. The picture of the home you see on VRBO is the front of the home with a garage. This is what we were expecting, not someone's basement. No garage, no kitchen, or any of the things one would expect from a home by looking at the picture. Our group of 3 ladies and 1 gentleman was apparently too loud for the homeowners. No music, party or anything like that, but wine fueled conversation. At about 10:00 PM, one of our guest walked outside and tripped on an unlit step. When she fell, she screamed and broke a wine glass. The owners both came down and swept up the glass but asked us in no uncertain terms to leave their property in the morning, a day early. No, "is your friend who fell okay" or " can you guys talk less loud" just "We want you gone in the morning" Are friend was pretty badly scraped up and they saw her injuries but did not offer one word of concern for her. To be fair, when we booked the property, we had two people and then latter two of our friends decided to join us. We did not realized that the owners charge more for extra people so I am sure when they saw four of us, they felt cheated and were therefore upset. We have never had a property charge more for 4 vs 2 people and did not realized it was an issue. We don't rent condos on VRBO because we don't want to worry about disturbing the neighbors. Then, we end up in someone basement with probably zero sound deadening between the upstairs and the downstairs. The owners said they were going to charge us for the extra 2 people and the broken glass. I said that that was fine but they should also refund us for the night we paid for and could not use. Honestly, I was just willing to let them keep the extra night's rent in exchange for the broken glass and the two extra people but then I got an e-mail from VRBO asking for the damage deposit to be released. They never did refund us for the night we could not use. So, bottom line, if your party is wine tasting in Willamette and therefore prone to laughter and conversation, this is most likely not the place for you. If on the other hand, you are a quite couple, who is in bed by 9:00PM, you will probably be just fine.

This 2 bedroom is clean, cozy and very comfortable. It's close to many of the wineries in the area. And Donna is a great host. We loved our stay and would book again if our travels take us back to that area or Oregon.

Don and Donna are wonderful hosts and offer such a wonderful space to stay in their home.
Communications: While I didn't have to interact with them directly, they reach out immediately via email and you're never in the dark about how to get there/how to get inside/where to park, etc. Inside, there's nice reminders on how to check out and a full binder full of personally crafted recommendations on what to check out in town.
Exterior - beautiful, lush backyard with lovely a lovely landscape and selection of plants and trees.
Interior - wow! Freshly painted, nice carpets, soft beds, wonderful linens, tastefully furnished, and very relaxing from the moment you enter. Thank you for providing a TV with some fun DVD choices! My friend and I were very surprised and happy with the breakfast options provided for us.
10/10 would stay here next time when I'm going to check out a winery or three.

Awesome stay!
The location is close to many great wineries, totally private stay, and a very helpful host. Donna was able to help us plan our winery visits and navigate the town. The house was very clean with great touches such as toiletries in the bathroom, coffee and breakfast snacks in the morning, and movies and popcorn in the evening. The ease of the location and accomadations helped to make our trip outstanding!

Loved the space!! Wonderful setup for my family
This a great setup! The space is warm and cozy and super inviting. And Don basically bent over backwards during the scheduling and our stay to make sure everything went perfectly. Loved the cozy blankets and the big sofa for relaxing and the beds were comfortable. I'd strongly recommend you consider this spot if you are coming to the area!

Great Property
My husband, myself and another couple spent the night here while we were in town for an event at a local winery. The space was perfect for the four of us and Don was very easy to communicate with both prior to and during our stay. The space itself is very clean and well maintained and has very comfortable furniture and beds. Nice amenities are provided like snacks, coffee and a light breakfast. I would highly recommended this property.

Perfect accommodations and space
My family stayed 2 nights (2 older kids and 2 adults) because of a nearby marathon my wife participated in. Don was a fabulous host and very gracious. We had everything we needed and then some! It’s obvious the care that went into crafting a great space. We have already recommended this to other family members looking for a quick getaway!

Perfect spot to stay while wine-tasting in Willamette Valley!
The entire first floor of this solid, nicely decorated home is available for your use. Everything from the classy bed linens to small touches like cozy wraps and popcorn for cool evenings in front of a movie are provided. While there isn't a kitchen per se, there is a full-sized microwave, Nespresso maker, wine cooler, and mini-fridge. The two bedrooms are large, and the bathroom has two sinks and all the amenities you might need. Sip some wine on the deck while looking out over the valley. Walk down to several good restaurants in Dundee. Take a wine tour (we liked Backcountry Wine Tours). The hosts are lovely and helpful, and discreet in removing dishes and leaving fresh ones. A great home base from which to enjoy the bounty of the Willamette Valley.

Perfect, comfortable spot
Two friends and I visited Willamette Valley for a little wine tasting and relaxation. Don and Donna were the perfect hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed, but gave us privacy as well. I really appreciated Don reaching out before our stay to offer recommendations on local wineries and restaurants. The accommodations were exactly like pictured, very comfortable bedrooms, spacious living area, a mini fridge, wine glasses, use of the beautiful backyard, and more. The hosts also provided chocolate truffles, granola and yogurt, and mini pastries for the morning. We'd be happy to stay again sometime!

Exactly as advertised
Location was perfect in a lovely neighborhood - a 5 minute walk down the hill takes you to a small but nice choice of dining options. Large space, perfectly appointed, all conveniences provided (plus some totally unexpected - like snacks & toiletries). Host was gracious and available as needed. We will return and bring our bikes.

Great spot in the heart of Dundee
Loved this 2BR just a few blocks up the hill from Hwy 99 in Dundee, only minutes away from Red Hills Grocery, Tina's and all the other gems the beautiful town of Dundee has to offer. And the owners couldn't be nicer. This is a perfect home base to explore and enjoy the Willamette Valley.

Beautiful Property!
We had a lovely stay! Don & Donna made sure we had everything we could possibly need for a night in wine country. The rooms were comfortable, we enjoyed watching a movie (they even had popcorn out for us!) and sipping on wine by the gas fireplace. The view from the back porch was incredible, saw a beautiful sunset. They also provided us with a great list of wineries to check out in the area. There were spare toiletries in case we forgot anything and the bath towels were so fluffy! Don & Donna thought of everything and made themselves very accessible in case we needed anything else. Hope we will get to stay here again in the future!
