Not a lot really
Blood stains on pillows and bedding also no hot water, very noisy due to guests drinking on the terrace till late night
3.3
it was nice and clean, spacious and quite
nothing I would change to be honest

Wow - for the price I paid I would expect serious luxury. This was seriously grim - and someone else had left their pubes in the bathroom. Really, not nice. Not good at all. Avoid at all costs.
The shower and plastic shower curtain, ill-fitting loo suit, revolting kitchen. Steamy steamy hot with views out over the rooftops - not in a romantic way. Never book this place for any reason.

Could have used some air con

Should have reported but only noticed it when returning to my room late in the evening: what looked like dried blood stains on the sheet. As it was a double bed I could manage to avoid them.

Nothing to like - the visit did not happen. A detailed train made our journey to Colchester impossible.
My niece informed the hotel that we would not be arriving due to train problems en route. She was told that we should contact Booking.com re possibility of rearranging booking.
I contacted Booking.com, cancelled the booking and gave new date. Booking.com contacted me saying that The Star and Anglia were still expecting us to arrive (???) and that we should contact them. Poor customer service all round.
Such a pity as we had been very satisfied with previous stay.

Proximity to the Belvedere Club we were visiting with family who live in Colchester.
Room not being serviced during our stay.
Would have liked a shelf in the shower area.

Bed was comfy and not too long a walk from the Colchester North Station.
A couple of things instantly took my eye. The 'reception' sign on the main desk had many a months worth of dust on top of the lettering and the lift buttons on ground and first floor were both hanging off with an attempt to sellotape them back on. This area of town is a little run down too so may be it fits the profile...first impressions are important. Also, the shower gel bottle was pretty much empty, tubing couldn't suck up what was left.. All this points to a lack of attention and investment.
There was also a saturday night function going on until 'stupid o'clock' in the morning and given my room had no sound proofing at all, I just had to put up with it and various people walking up and down the corridor, sounded like they were in my room!
I'd have preferred to say something before check out but nobody around. Hopefully they can start to pick up on some of these things post-Covid.

party in the conference room very loud music until 3.20am

The room was a great size. Location great for where we needed to be. Security good. Staff were friendly and happy to help
Shower was like glass cutting into your skin when washing. Corridors smelt of cigarettes
Fixtures in bathroom were loose and a crack in the sink
We were warned of a party that night and that they asked them to be respectful of other residents, however the noise went on till after 3am
3.3
exceptionally clean, very comfortable
3.3
We liked the location and parking on site
Communication was poor, requests were ignored
3.3
Good location, 10 min walk to centre and plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby
Mix up with room on checking in, given wrong room bu quickly rectified
3.3
The bed was comfortable
The staff were quite rude. Our room key let us into another room that was occupied and then wouldn't let us into our room and had to hope after we come back after a night out that the room key would let us back in as reception closed and no one would be able to help. The shower was mouldy and toilet was gross. Check out as at 11 but at 10:15 we get a very loud knock on door from housekeeping.
3.3
