The host was lovely and very welcoming. She contacted me prior to arrival and made sure I had everything I needed for my weekend (a wedding). She also offered to give me a lift to the wedding which I thought was really kind. I The room was clean with fresh towels, refreshments and snacks.
When I arrived I entered through the conservatory which was very cluttered and messy. It looked like an antiques shop / jumble sale. There was random furniture everywhere with no seating area for breakfast. It didn't resemble the photos that I'd seen prior to arrival, and it instantly made me concerned that I'd made a mistake in booking.
It's possible that I just stayed on a weekend where the host was de-cluttering the house, hence the furniture everywhere. However it did seem slightly strange and definitely raised some concerns for me.
I also felt that I overpaid - although the room was clean I did not think that it was worth the price I was charged. I had friends staying in airbnbs nearby that were much cheaper and sounded nicer.

Nice countryside location. Lovely host!

I loved the location it was an idyllic place.
The Cottage was very relaxing and comfortable.
Slept like a dream and to wake up looking over the beautiful walled garden was perfect.
We came down for a wedding so didn't have time to use the hot tub.
Lots of nice walks for our Black Labrador and so nice having a safe garden for her to roam while we sat outside the patio doors.
I Would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay.

I took my wife here for our anniversary weekend, it is a very beautiful place to visit, the accommodation was very comfortable and clean and the surroundings absolutely beautiful. The host Beverly is such a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble she even gave us a lovely bottle of bubbles to enjoy in the hot tub. My wife and I had a very relaxing weekend and we will definitely be back next year.

Me and my partner had a fantastic time. I booked the weekend to propose to my partner and Beverly the lady who owns the property left bottle champagne at our door when we came back. The hot tub was amazing and the views was spectacular. I will definitely be booking again. I would highly recommend this place.
There was nothing I didn't like weekend was perfect.

quiet and secluded

All fine especially the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner. Also a real bonus the presence of her beautiful redfox Labrador - a real sweetie!
An ensuite bathroom or at least a separate toilet from shower room.

Lovely location and the room/facilities were fab for a nice quiet weekend away

The location was good for event we was attending.
Hot tub was good, but see comments below
Not much room, photos made it look a lot better than it was.
Gravel on yard put down on uneven ground and to deep for vehicles to travel on.
Lots of building materials where we could park
Hot tub was good, but quoted £45 for 3 nights when originally booking, due to cost of room and dogs went down to 2 nights but event times changed so had to rebook the 3rd night, which we did direct with host as booked up on booking.com. Was told it would be cheaper! but then told hot tub should have been more when we was paying, didnt feel room was value for money.

We loved the location. This really could be a superb holiday let. The location and the views are exceptional. I love the fact the bedroom lead straight on to the garden and we were blessed with sunny days - it was lovely to wake up to. We loved the hot tub, really good quality. I loved the bed, very bouncy and comfy, my partner not so much but we both slept well. Loved the local pubs - great food had at Countryman and Butchers Arms.
It saddens me to leave a poor review because we did really enjoy our stay but not for the following reasons - as I say we loved the location, setting, hot tub and local pubs but the stay was hugely let down by the accommodation and the facilities. I really hope the owner can see this as constructive criticism, we know she is new to this so want to genuinely help her to improve & get more bookings as it has such HUGE potential. Me and my partner stay locally usually in a similar setting, on a farm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, its very quiet, very comfortable, has a hot tub and an amazing breakfast! oh and a huge bath overlooking the view. It's exceptional and we always stay whenever we can and adore the owner (we shan't name names in fear of it getting even more booked up!). For this we pay £80 a night and that includes use of the hot tub and patio/gardens, an amazing huge home cooked organic, local breakfast, and everything else you could ask for regarding comfort and little extra details like home made sloe gin in the room! It really is exceptional and amazing value which is why they are booked up all the time. With this accommodation the decor and comfort is not comparable - the place needs a very big face lift, its very old and tired and musty and very noisy from other guests. It was cluttered, there was huge furniture in the room that wasn't needed, crazy amounts of old toiletries and sponges in the bathroom, no hot water when we wanted it, inadequate amount of towels and robes and toilet roll. Horrible furnishings and very dated furniture. Now we all know in the times of B&M etc that you can make any room look clean and modern and new with very little money. I desperately wanted to take the £45 that we were being charged for one day/night's use of the hot tub, and get down B&M and pretty the place up for the owner.

Location
It was not as clean as I would expect it to be

Location, room,
We used the hot pool for about half an hour but we were charged for 2 days even though I hadn't booked the pool in the original booking. This left me very angry. I had planned to visit regularly because it was so peaceful but I don't like being cheated

Lovely location, nice gardens & views, ideal for dogs & walking, comfy bed, lovely spacious suite, lovely hot tub but extra charges for use which was surprising & a bit pricey.
Stunning surroundings & nice pub near by.

I loved the hot tub and the fact that it was for our private use. The gardens were lovely and the walks with our Dog. It was pet friendly. We had WiFi and a TV and the owner supplied some continental breakfasts for our stay. Parking was right outside.
There were horses and sheep and cows .. Horses were very friendly.
The pub was also within walking distance.
Locals were very welcoming too.
I would say that the shower cubicle needs an update and maybe a freshen up. Being a Housekeeper for a big company the cleaning was not to a standard that I would have preferred but I think the owner is aware of this and is looking for a housekeeper. Fridge would be better off the floor as it was quite uncomfortable on the back. There seems to be a new building being made at the entrance so was not pleasant to look at .. but we stayed around the back and gardens.

If you are looking for a romantic weekend away, away from the world in the middle of the countryside then this is a great place to go. Even if you are looking for a couple days to yourself to unwind , think and relax. I would also recommend booking the hot tub for your stay.
There is a country pub round the corner (the countrymann) for which the dinners they make I was not expecting. Was more like food you would expect from a 5 star restaurant.

Room was lovely an spacious. Hot tub was lovely. The surroundings/views were simply stunning
Only slight disappointment was paid for private hot tub use, was then informed after that we wouldn't have it completely private for our full stay

Clean room with access to well maintained large garden. Beautiful views over fields. Very welcoming owner. Hot tub was fabulous.
Certainly would stay again. Thank you Bev.

Nice cottage in the countryside - perfect for a quiet getaway. Lovely views from and around the property.
Thoroughly made the most of the hot tub which was the favourite part of the cottage for me
Noise from the next room which could be heard very clearly and the town is a little out the way but is easily accessible if you drive

As it says above, the property has a view across countryside to incredible sunsets (you can see them from the room - the photos are from two different evenings). Also great place to walk.
Service was first class and the room was lovely. Overall brilliant combination of traditional rural with Wi-fi that actually works.
I’m going back
