Inside the property is a peaceful haven of greenery away from the bustling streets outside. The room had nice decor, big bathroom, good AC, comfy bed. The owner was very helpful in answering any questions. The restaurant area was nice with good food for breakfast and dinner. The location is central. Would stay again.

Good location for walking around historic area
Loud music until gone 11:30 every night from nearby cafe ruined the ability to relax in the room.
I got an electric shock from a plug on the wall when attempting to remove it to insert a phone charger. This threw my arm into a neighbouring piece of furniture bruising it. Front desk appeared mildly interested but not surprised. Other sockets and cabling were also dodgy and showing exposed cables. Dangerous.
At checkout front desk charged me in GBP rather than rupees without my consent and blamed the card machine rather than the fact she had clicked gbp. Clearly dishonest.
Suggest avoid unless you like the feeling of being ripped off. Could be a nice stay with attention to safety and more friendliness. Breakfast staff were better than front desk lady.

Very lovely place in an old french villa. The Hotel is in walking distance to the beach and there are many good restaurants nearby. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Some hotels have emergency power to bypass the frequent power outages. Sadly this place doesn't, which was a bit annoying.

Amazing location and rooms. Peaceful.
My room had few mosquitoes.

Beautiful property! Takes you back in time. The ambience created is soothing and relaxed. They have a booklet for guests which gives an overview of the area, it was so helpful. I love that extra touch! The breakfast is fresh and delicious. In my personal experience the staff is great and so helpful. Definitely a must to experience this beautiful property regardless that it lay in the heart of white town.
There is a resto/bar opposite which plays live music everynight from 8pm to 11pm. If you are an early sleeper then it's something you would have to manage.

The decor and ambience of Viila Helena is beautiful.
Our bedroom was delightful ,and the beds & linen, extremely comfortable.
Geraldine and all the staff made us feel very welcome.
The garden restaurant serves superb food.
Villa Helena has a nightclub nearby ,which means there was load music playing during the evening until about 11.30pm,so if you want an early night, it is disturbing.
However ,it would not put us off staying again!

Great location, good breakfast. Nice garden area to sit in the evenings.
There's a fine line between heritage / vintage and run-down.
Villa Helena has great potential, but needs renovations.
This place is mozzie city, make sure you use your spray.

Super location ! Good French rustic environment with green courtyard!
Comfortable rooms and huge bathroom.
Staff wqs courteous right from top to bottom. Not to forget the high veilings giving extra space visually which gives good feeling !
A comfortable and centrally located place with limited drinks. Mid level hotel. Expecting high end comforts, then it may disappoint you.
Some upkeepment needed in the bathroom, like shower area, shelves, ventilation etc.
Room windows need quarter curtain so windows can be kept open yet can't see inwards for privacy.
We left at 7.30 am for airport. They said it was too early for tea or milk or coffee. They can start kitchen at 7 and offer all above.
They did pack a breakfast for us ! Nice of them.

This is a beautiful period property with a lovely shady garden with lots of places to relax in, friendly bilingual (Eng/French) staff, spacious bedroom and a top notch breakfast including croissants and baguette. A little piece of France in Pondy and a taste of what life might have been like in French days.
There is a noisy bar in the next block but noise did not go on too late.

The Ambience and the heritage home feel close to all the hotspots to visit and the beach great night vibes very calm !!!!

Loved the place! It is so underrated for food as well. One of the best places we've stayed, eaten and have had host us for over a weekend. It was a really beautiful birthday we spent there thanks to the overall experience of the staff (especially Sudha, Ramu, cleaning staff and the ones at the restaurant), the heritage villa itself and the beautiful room we stayed in, the host who welcomed us (Geraldine), the cat (Peticia), the food, and a lot more! Truly a cherishable experience.
It would have been lovely to have the villa plan gatherings for the residents in the space, allow for mixed crowd mingling for whoever prefers it (of course), and possibly have wi-fi in the rooms so the working experience would be better and allow us to plan longer stays than a weekend in this lovely space! :)

Perfect location with access to Whitetown.
Would really be helpful if the tpilets had adsitional lighting and also a full length mirror. Not a major complaint

It was limited in quantity. A little more variert would have been good. Maybe some more
I didnt like the body massage at all. The massage was very abrupt and not at all relaxing. Felt like she was kneading dough. I did give her feedback as well to use slow and firm strokes.

I stayed at Villa Helena for three nights, and had a lovely stay here! It aces on location - a 2-minute walk from Promenade beach and less than 5 minutes from anywhere else in White Town. I enjoyed my stay in the single room - a cosy, uncluttered affair reminiscent of simpler times. The in-house cafe serves up quite a spread, and with the complimentary breakfast, Villa Helena is an ideal stay for anyone looking to enjoy the comforts of living in a restored French mansion.
The stairs may be a bit steep for some.

Breakfast was good and had a French "taste". On one occasion, the baguettes were clearly stale but toasted, which made it difficult to chew on them. I liked my chicken entree for dinner and the fresh lime soda was always refreshing.
I didn't like the fact that all dining facilities were outdoors. In the heat of summer, it is almost impossible to sit out. You need an AC.
I found it very irritating that there was no one at the reception when I arrived. No one seemed to be in charge of the overall premises. So this was not a good sign of professionalism.

Located in the French part of Pondicherry, this beautiful villa brings a little piece of Europe to India . The architecture, the greenery and rooms were beautiful and perfect for young people looking to live well on a budget. The staff were polite and accommodating. Would definitely recommend
The water pressure could be better.
