About this apartment rental
Our beautiful home exudes the charm and magic of Old San Juan while providing luxury & comfort for guests. The perfect spot for a couple or work/vacation visit. Our reviews tell the story of a safe and comfortable spot to stay in. The first thing you will notice is the lack of a "lock box" but personalized attention, you are greeted by Veronica and/or her hubby Luiscito.(Unless we are accommodating an unusual time) They are a wealth of information regarding places to go, events, eateries and activities. Walk by the limbers vendor on the first floor (quintessential Old San Juan!) up to the second floor and enter the apartment. The living room opens to a beautiful balcony overlooking La Rogativa with breathtaking views of the San Juan Bay. Comfortable sofa, TV, dining table and chairs, sideboard and artwork fill the main living space. The renovated kitchen features stainless steel refrigerator and apron-front sink, custom-built pantry and cabinetry. Hallway leads from kitchen past a half-bath to the enormous master bedroom, with very comfortable queen bed, nightstands, dresser and love seat. Continue from the master bedroom past an office nook / study to the full bathroom with custom-tiled shower. The second bedroom rests in the back, furnished with a daybed ( two twin beds) and dresser. The many windows and an interior wall of frosted glass allow the entire apartment to be filled with the light of the Caribbean sun! The breeze from the bay cools the house accented by the overhead fans in each room. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms. This spacious ( for Puerto Rico) 1200 foot apartment is in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Old San Juan. There is NO smoking in any areas of the apartment even the balconies. We also do not allow pets due to severe allergies. This quiet upscale neighborhood is one of the safest in Puerto Rico. Directly across from the Governor's mansion there is 24 hour guards! We cannot allow any parties as this is a residentlal area. Quiet time starts at 10PM. A Walk around the corner and you are facing the Cathedral, El Convento and a few steps take you to Plaza Del Armas, supermarkets and our favorite "the Poets Passage" where you can find unique souvenirs. For the shoppers there is Ralph Lauren, Coach, El Galpon (hats), Burberry and Guess! Fine jewelry can be found at E Barquet or Bared. Puerto Rico has a rich tradition in crafting hand-rolled cigars so try the Cigar House. History filled sites such as El Morro, San Juan Cemetery, El Yunque is a world famous rainforest, La Fortaleza are a must. Many beaches such as Carolina Beach are clean, safe and the caribbean water is warm and clear blue. The beach in isla Verde is beautiful and 20 minutes away. Fishing, water skiing, horseback riding, Jet skiing , snorkeling are all within a half hour ride. Escambron beach is a 20 minute walk 5 minute drive, I would recommend the "try Diving" . There are maps and brochures with information regarding activities, places to eat and famous sights. If you are looking for a safe area and want to experience the beauty of Old San Juan this is the place for you.

This apartment is a wonderful, central location in Old San Juan. We literally woke up every morning, opened the shutters on our balcony and looked out over the beautiful blue bay. And because it's right across the street from the entrance to the governor's residence, there are police stationed nearby 24/7. Not that we felt unsafe in Old San Juan at all -- we felt very safe walking around, even after nightfall. The apartment is well stocked with kitchen supplies and toiletries (even sunscreen). Ceiling fans in the living area kept it cool (it rose to the mid 80's during our March stay) and ceiling fans/air conditioner kept the bedroom comfortable at night. It was great to be able to have just a short walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, tons of restaurants, gelato, gift shops/boutiques, etc. The hostess, Minnie, was exceptionally helpful with her recommendations for restaurants and beaches. Highly recommend this rental!

We were looking for a place in Old San Juan that wasn't hotel with all the things you would need for a week long stay and this fit the bill.
From the living room with the ocean view, to the kitchen with everything you would need to prepare coffee, breakfast and if needed, lunch and dinner, to the bedroom with an A/C unit to keep us cool while in Puerto Rico during the humid days even in December. This place had everything and was walking distance to all restaurants and sights in Old San Juan. One thing you don't need in this location is a car. Not worth the hassle.

We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Puerto Rico.
Beautiful View and Quite. Loved our stay.

The location and view in my opinion is probably about the best you will find in old san juan , there are 20 steps (second floor) which wasnt a problem for us but could be if your handicapped , overall i would rate it excellent

Immersed ourselves in the history, culture, and beauty of Old San Juan. Property is as described. Owner is wonderful with communication as is the caretaker. The master bedroom is generously sized. In the apartment, spent most of our time watching happenings on the bay and streets via the living room and open balcony. In the kitchen, we used the coffee maker and refrigerator, walking to the nearby market to get a few supplies. We ate out for most meals to sample local foods, but the kitchen was fully stocked and could have been used for meal prep. We loved it and would rent again!

This home is incredible! We didn't know just how lucky we were to have chosen this VRBO over the others we were looking at!!! This is thee standard for an amazing vacation. The architecture is gorgeous, people watching on the balcony was so fun - we even watched a wedding take place right there at the Rogativa monument across the street. There were at least 4 to 5 police officers posted on every corner around you because the governors mansion is right there, literally the safest street in Puerto Rico! The a/c kept the house nice and cool, the Limbers icies downstairs were so good and only $1, we were constantly eating those the entire trip! The home was well stocked with toiletry items, kitchen essentials, all kinds of books to read, beautiful artwork and furniture, the neighbors were so kind, I just couldn't get enough! I can't even list all the details we were so pleased with. Minerva was an absolute pleasure to communicate with. We will definitely be coming back to this gorgeous home!!! Best Anniversary trip ever!

This was a super cute place in a fabulous location. It was so nice to stand on the veranda and see the city, fort walls and ocean. Lots of fun thing within walking distance. The hosts were very responsive and nice. The master bed is huge. The second bedroom is pretty small but cute. Loved feeling like a local!

Everything was walking distance to the property! I felt safe as police were always around. Tons of shops nearby and great food! Can’t wait to be back.

Perfect location with balcony overlooking the beautiful Caleta de las Monjas, La Rogativa, old city gate, and the bay. Enjoyed relaxing days drawing the view, sipping wine while the sun set over the bay, early morning jogs with the reward of excellent coffee at Plaza de Armas.
Within easy walking distance to food market, shops, museums, restaurants, great music and food at Carli's. Very welcoming, helpful neighbors, and even informal concerts some afternoons.
The apartment is comfortable and very well-provisioned from umbrella, to hairspray, to corkscrew. Master bedroom lacks a closet or wardrobe for hanging clothes but we used the rack in the second bedroom which we were not otherwise using.

So much of what the owner,
Ms. Santos, has done with this property exceeded our expectations. After all, much of Old San Juan is, in fact, very old (500 years old !). Starting with the spectacular view overlooking the bay from the balcony, this is a wonderful place to stay while exploring Puerto Rico. Equipped with all the modern features we’ve come to expect and an owner who always quickly responded to all of our inquiries. We look forward to returning just to stay here again.

This is the place to stay, it’s everything it’s advertised to be. The location and views are fantastic. Close proximity to all sights, restaurants and shops. In a very safe neighborhood, police presence, all day, everyday.
Minerva is the BEST host, responsive, kind, informative, helpful from BEFORE the trip started until the very end.
I can’t say enough about Minerva or this location.
My family and I would definitely stay here again and again. #10 stars

From the moment we booked I knew this was going to be a great trip for us. The host was by far the best host I have ever had! She informed of us everything about the apartment along with a list of restaurants, places to see, and where to shop with in walking distance.
The apartment was exactly as discerned and was exactly what we needed. We did have to get use to no air conditioning in the living room but it was a quick adjustment for us plus the air conditioner in the bedrooms works perfectly.
We couldn’t have asked for a better location.
Thank you for letting us stay at your perfect home, it is an unforgettable place and when we return to OSJ we will hope you let us stay here again!

On our lst, and possibly only, visit to Puerto Rico we wanted to spend some time in Old San Juan. The location of this property was appealing with a view of the bay, a sentry box, and the Rogativa statue! We really looked forward to staying there and were not disappointed. From the very first, the owner was very helpful in providing information and recom-mendations. The building is very old, of course, part of the charm of Old San Juan, but with 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, living room and kitchen it is so much more functional than a hotel room. The little balcony above the street was our window on the neighborhood, the weather, and helped us feel a part of it all. We did not have a car there and kept learning more street names and locations of special sights, all kinds of restaurants and fun little shops. We enjoyed returning to our "home" and still being part of the community. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed except more time to stay longer. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Minerva was very helpful both before and during our trip. We were three people: a 90-year-old grandmother, a 67-year-old son and a 32-year-old grandson. It served us very well. The apartment was very large with bedrooms much removed from living areas. The kitchen was well-stocked. The balcony gave us a great view of the park and the harbor, and a large bougainvillea grew up to the railing.
I think this would be ideal for a couple with two children who want to cook in sometimes and explore the old city on foot. Highly recommended.

Sitting atop one of both tourists & locals favorite Puerto Rican food experiences (limbers: fruit-infused shaved ices)
and sporting a flower-draped balcony overlooking Old San Juan’s iconic La Rogativa statue and the Bay beyond (marvelous sunsets!), we were thrilled that such an apartment in a centuries old building could even be rented!
Of good size for the old city, and both well-furnished and well-maintained, we reveled during a week spent there exploring delightful Old San Juan.
We can only hope to return soon!

This was our second time in this lovely place and it didn’t disappoint. We were there over Three King’s Day. It’s like a second New Year’s Eve. The town is decked out beautifully and we were close to all of it. In spite of the holiday Luis and Minerva checked in to make sure all was well. As we are the type to spend part of our vacations curled up with a book, this place was perfect, with an unparalleled view. Highly recommended!

From the moment of arrival, one can't help but feel a part of this vibrant, Old San Juan neighborhood. Right across from the entrance to the Governor's quarters, and with a gorgeous view of the bay, one gets to experience the coming and going of cruise ships, locals, vendors and all who live and work in this area of OSJ, along with the tourists exploring El Morro, just behind the apartment. Walking along the Paseo El Morro quickly became one of our daily enjoyments.
Minnie is a communicative and thoughtful hostess, who takes pride in her apartment.

A terrific stay with Minnie as host. Near 3 great inexpensive but good restaurants on Calle Sol, Apartment looks onto Rogativa Statue with numerous colorful weddings during our month long stay. Highly recommended

Host very helpful, apartment beautifully situated watching ships come and go, near Puerto and entrance to walk to El Morro and enjoyed the Saturday Farmers Market (great Olive Bread and Croissants, fresh fruit and veggies). This vrbo is just what we were looking for - great view, good location, and the apartment felt like a genuine and unique San Juan experience.

We loved this place and would definitely return. Beautiful view of the water from balcony. Steps away from the governor mansion so very safe. Actually all of the town felt very safe. Short walk to restaurants and shops. Apartment itself is clean, quiet and full of modern amenities. We used Uber when we needed to go beyond Old San Juan. Driving in the town is challenging as streets are narrow and parking is difficult. We highly recommend this place as a relaxing and fun spot to vacation.

Minnie was very easy to communicate with, and was always on top of checking in with our group. We were super thankful that her and Luis allowed us to check in a bit early, as we had a change in our arrival time.
Let me just say that this is by far the most accurate property listing I’ve encountered on a rental site. The property is in a prime location within Old San Juan. All of the major sights are within a 15 minute walk. It’s near the ferry port to Cataño. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area; literally any food you could imagine. The proximity to the governor’s mansion means more security/police are in the area, and it’s much quieter than other areas of old San Juan.
There are a few things worth noting for other travelers to keep in mind, and they are discussed in the listing:
-parking in old San Juan can be a pain. There are nearby lots, I’d recommend the Ballaja parking lot. It’s around $2 for an hour, then an additional $1 every hour after. It’s open 24/7. Parking near the apt can be difficult, spots are very tight and streets are very narrow. Plus many of the streets near the home are residential only, pass reqd.
- The A/C is only in the bedrooms. This is mentioned in the listing. We happened to be there during abnormal high temps, and monsoon storms. It was hot in the main parts of the house, but the bedrooms were so comfortable. The fans did offer good airflow throughout the apt, but it was definitely warmer than we liked. Like I said, the listing did note this and we’d stay here again, if the opportunity came.
-This is an upstairs unit in old San Juan. It’s just the 2nd floor and the stairs are maintained. Keep this in mind if you’re traveling with anyone older and/or need mobility assistance. Most of old San Juan is cobblestone streets and the sidewalks get slick with rain fall.
-Check in does require meeting the host in person. Depending on your preference, this could be good or bad. I appreciated the in-person touch.
Last, but not least, make sure you check out Limbers. It’s located under the apt and sells snacks & flavored frozen ice. The ice are cups of frozen juices. Our personal faves were the lemon & fresa china.

Old San Juan
The apartment was in a very nice area of Old San Juan making all the sites and restaurants within walking distance. It was lovely to wake up with the bay right out the balcony and interesting to watch the happenings at the Governors Mansion across the street. Minnie was very friendly and accomodating. I would recommend this property without hesitation if you want to truely feel a part of Old San Juan.

Wonderful stay in Old San Juan
The property was well stocked with everything one would need for a very comfortable stay. The property is in an excellent location to explore all that Old San Juan has to offer.
The owner was easy to reach, had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do.
The contact person in Old San Juan was more than gracious and helpful.
This location would be my first choice to book when we return to Puerto Rico. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this beautiful home.

Beautiful and Historic San Juan
This apartment in San Juan is well located and well maintained. It is walking distance to all historical monuments and has a beautiful view. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking gear and the managers were always available when I needed them. I gave only four stars instead of five for two reasons. One is that the gate exiting the building is tricky to unlock. I meant to mention to the manager when I was there that a little WD-40 would probably do the trick! Also, I feel that this unit is best suited to an individual or a couple. The back bedroom is not very comfortable and the pull-out sofa is really not appropriate for sleeping. (I know because I tried it.) That being said, if I return to Old San Juan I would definitely stay here again!

Comfortable apartment, beautiful view and helpful, friendly and génerous hosts! Easy walking to Paseo Princesa, San Francisco street and the wonderful old city! Thank you Vicki and Jose

Perfect!
This property has a perfect location very close to the Puerta de San Juan. The “red gate” gets you to a pathway along the water that takes you to El Morro, a fort built by Spain in the 1600s. It’s also down the street from the Catedral de San Juan and close to plenty of great restaurants and shops. Jose and Vickie are wonderful! They live close by and we’re happy to show us around the neighborhood. They provided umbrellas for us on a rainy day. And Jose is quite the chef! He treated us with delicious soup, fish, squid rice and avocado. Yum! We hope to make it back to Old San Juan again and would definitely stay here.

Perfect get away
The property was everything promised and more. Doors to the balcony gave a wonderful view of the street, plaza and bay. Good modern kitchen and baths and AC in the bedrooms. The apartment is well ventilated and airy. The location is perfect with easy walking to all areas of old San Juan. Minnie, Jose and Vickie are really nice and helpful and we feel we have a new set of friends in San Juan. We highly recommend this location and will book it again if we have the opportunity to visit the area.
