Annual fall mountain vacation to see leaves changing. Enjoyable cabin with good location, view, and comfortable. I would consider again and have stayed in many cabins in Maggie. Issues encountered were could not light gas fireplaces but central heat sufficient. Low water pressure but sufficient. Bring your own streaming device which I always do. Ice maker not connected to water so consider trays or bag.

My daughter celebrated her birthday with friends and family in Maggie Valley and had a great time! They loved the house!

The cabin is beautiful but needs to be cleaned. The first thing we found in the cabin was a dead bat on the couch. We could tell it had not been cleaned, swept or vacuumed in a while. Super dusty and the rooms were really stuffy. Water pressure not great and no cable in the main living room. It was okay for 2 nights but we had to do a lot of cleaning to get rid of dust and bugs.

The house was set up perfectly for 3 couples, everyone had their own space, but plenty of room to gather when we wanted to.

Great view and location... needs a few repairs.
We've rented dozens of homes in this area over the past 30 years. We usually rent much higher up for a great view. This house has a beautiful view while still being a short drive up a paved mountain road. The covered wrap-around porch was a big plus, as was the large gas grill and the strong wi-fi. But.. beware the almost nonexistent upstairs AC. It was too warm to sleep up there. The TV in great room did not work: directions were to watch it via Roku, but there was no Roku. We were able to stream Netflix. There's an odd mix of updated vs outdated finishes, furnishings and appliances. Refrigerator had trouble keeping all of our things cool and there was no working water line. That meant there was no way to make ice and no filtered in-door water. The steps to the basement are precariously placed next to the kitchen and the handrail doesn't run all the way up. I wouldn't want a small child in this house. Great potential, just needs some repairs and TLC.

We've stayed at this house several times and there was a significant difference in the condition compared to our previous stays. Pros: the BEST views of any property we've ever stayed at; large house with 3 separate private sleeping areas and 2 non-private sleeper sofas; plenty of dining space; amazing porches; lots of easy parking; kitchen is well-equipped (bring pot holders.) Cons: the house was not as clean as we expected (hair in the tubs, dead bugs and spiderwebs everywhere); there were not enough linens/blankets for every bed; the air conditioner was not capable of cooling the 2nd floor; the furnishings are really starting to show age (sleeper sofa mattresses are little more than pads.) In the many times we've stayed in any Carolina Vacations property, we've never had one that didn't start off with clean bathrooms. It appeared that only the most cursory of cleanings had been done in quite some time. Carolina Vacations responded very quickly and sent out the cleaning crew the same morning we called; however, there was still hair left in the tubs when they finished. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as when we arrived. The major issue that we couldn't resolve was the insufficiency of the air conditioner for the 2nd floor. To get the 2nd floor temperature tolerable, the first floor and basement were freezing. That was how we discovered that there weren't enough blankets for every bed. We were fortunate that the temperatures during the day never got very hot. Otherwise, the 2nd floor would not have been usable for sleeping. As it was, we couldn't stay up there during the heat of the day. This house would probably be perfect in the fall or early spring before it begins to get hot. It could use a thorough cleaning and new mattresses for the sleeper sofas but you won't find better views anywhere else. We would conditionally recommend this property for use in cooler weather, if it gets a detailed cleaning and if you don't need to use the sleeper sofas.

The view is worth the drive!
The driveway to this property is a bit dicey, but the view is worth it. It was very quiet and peaceful. The house was great, but could’ve used some window cleaning and a few spare blankets.

This was our 3rd time staying at this cabin. We love the location and the amenities. The views are beautiful and we had a very relaxing stay. Our only complaint on this trip is that we didn't have access to regular TV stations. We could access Netflix and a few other streaming sights but not local TV. My dad is 80 and enjoys watching the news and at the time of our stay the Olympics were beings held. It was disappointing that he wasn't able to watch while we were there. Overall we loved our stay and we would definitely stay there again. Everything was clean and there had even been renovations since the last time we were there.

Comfortable house with an extraordinary view!
My husband and I wanted a quiet and cool place to enjoy family time with our adult children and to recharge our batteries after last year’s lockdown. We definitely found what we wanted in this beautiful and comfortable house with gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains. The pictures of the swing and the rocking chairs on the spacious porch were what sold me on this house and they did not disappoint! We had a couple rainy days during the week we were there and we enjoyed them as much as we did the sunny days. The furniture was rustic and comfortable and my husband and sons enjoyed a few games on the pool table downstairs. We enjoyed cooking meals in the spacious kitchen and my son cooked some wonderful steaks on the gas grill. The beds were comfortable and the fact that each bedroom had its on bathroom was definitely a plus. Maggie Valley is a lovely little town with some good places to eat and the drive to Waynesville for groceries was very easy. I loved my time in this beautiful mountain home…the week went by much too quickly!

Nice view
The view was great as the smoky valley could be seen from the porch or better from the loft. The view is becoming slightly obstructed by growing trees but still nice today. The home needs some updates. Replacing beds, resurfacing the pool table and replacing the carpet would do wonders.

Nice cabin
the cabin was very nice with bedrooms on 3 levels which worked well for our group. We enjoyed sitting on the porch enjoying the view and watching the hummingbirds eating from the feeder.

Great deck with a great view.
Overall, we had a great time at High Hopes. The view was amazing, watching the sunrise right in front of the house over the valley. The house itself was pretty easy to find and not too far off the main road, grant it up a steep side of a mountain, but that is how you get the views. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the HUGE wrap around deck. Sitting on the rocking chairs watching the hummingbirds and even listening to the rain. They even had a location to put up a hammock on the deck, which we happened to bring ours, so that was nice! The TVs were also upgraded from the photos with now two large flatscreens, one on the main floor and one in the basement.
There were some things that could have made things better. First was the number of plates, definitely could use another 8 place setting. There were only 5 of us and we could have used more at times. Most of the plates were chipped too. Maybe having some more plastic plates for kids would be good too. More cups would be nice too, again some more plastic ones for the kids too. A few more blankets to snuggle up in would be nice, but not sure that is possible with the management company. The linens for the pull-out couches did have stains on them and could be changed out by the management company.
Finally, the AC on the top floor basically doesn’t exist. During the summer (when we were there) we had to freeze out the first two floors to cool off the top floor due to very few vents. In the winter this probably wouldn’t be much of an issue. The cabin could be cleaned better as well, dusty headboard, socks found around, and a used bar of soap left behind. We reported to the management company that the Ice Maker wasn’t working in the refrigerator and the drain plug in the master bathroom was missing. They never responded to my email during our stay, but we did not call. There was no started kit of soaps in the bathroom nor kitchen and half used rolls of toilet paper in the bathrooms.
Overall, we had a great short stay at the cabin and would recommend the cabin to others, especially when AC is not needed.

Reviewer Comments:
Beautiful cabin and views. The main complaint is that the 2 sofa beds that are advertised are broken and unusable. I actually fell through one before realizing the springs were completely off the end. I told the management and they compensated me for the trouble but unfortunately some of my guests had to be on the floor. Also we were unable to use tv in the loft. There is no cable in the loft and remotes did not have batteries so we were unable to change the input to watch the dvd player. A little disappointing for my kids sleeping in the loft. Other than that, the cabin is very nice.

Beautiful but some broken furniture
We stayed for a couple nights and it is really nice. The view is beautiful. We loved sitting on the back deck with our coffee and wine and soaked in the view. Our number one complaint is we had 9 people staying with us and both sofa beds that were advertised were completely broken and unusuable. Unfortunately some of our guests had to sleep on the floor. Management was notified and they were very apologetic and they did compensate us for our trouble. Just want to mention for future guests to make sure that they will not require the sofa beds for sleeping arrangements. Hopefully the owner will replace the sofa beds soon. Also, we were unable to use the tv in the loft which would have been nice for my kids. Other than that, it was great. Thank you for a very nice weekend.

Fun Girls' Getaway!
We are a group of teachers who worked together at the same school for many years. Due to moves and retirement, we now span 6 schools in 2 states. We chose 37 High Hopes as a girls' weekend destination to reconnect. What a fabulous weekend it was! We enjoyed amazing views from the porch swing, rockers, and gliders. We easily gathered around the dining table for delicious food prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. Hiking to Waterrock Knob off of the Blue Ridge Parkway was a highlight as was visiting waterfalls and the city of Asheville. Our plan is to make this an annual trip and High Hopes will be our number 1 choice for lodging!

Easy access and yet solitude!
Very well maintained. Open floor plan with lots of windows. Great views of the mountains.
We enjoyed sitting on the second floor porch and watching the wildlife: groundhogs, woodpeckers, rabbits and even bull frogs serenading us at night! Took walks in the evenings on paved roads winding through the forest. Highly recommend!

Amazing NC Mountain Retreat
In response to the negative review of Nov. 2014, as the owner, I can honestly say that we were not made aware of any of the mentioned issues by the property management company at that time. In fact, the home was supposed to be winterized at the beginning of November '14, so we were not expecting guests. The management team has been replaced, so I would expect an improved experience for future renters. I will add that in May 2015 the home was repaired such that a bat will not be able to enter it again. The home is in a rural area, and mice can be an issue. The home is on a service contract for pests, and if that were to happen again, I encourage the guest to contact the management for immediate attention. Our home is lovely, and we have had many guests over the years who have thoroughly enjoyed their stays. Maggie Valley and the Smokey Mountain Park area are incredible destinations for time spent in the great outdoors. Please consider our home for your next vacation. We are close to Cherokee, the National Park, Asheville, Bryson City and Deep Creek Tubing and more! Great hikes abound! Come check us out. * Please note it is a Non-Smoking rental.*

This is great house for large family. The rooms are spacious and the dining table seats 12. The view on the large porch is gorgeous. The rec room has a pool table that the kids and adults loved.

High Hopes - a great week!
We very much enjoyed our stay at High Hopes the week of June 9th! The house was very comfortable and accommodated two families (4 adults + 6 kids) nicely. We found the home very well equipped and "we" cooked several meals (thanks to the gourmet chefs in the family!) and had all the kitchen essentials we needed to prep meals and feed 10-12 ppl. The house offers an amazing front porch with NNE exposure along with with several rocking chairs, a swing and a dining table; a spacious great room / kitchen area with a very large dining table (easily seats 10-12), two comfy recliners and a big sofa. There is also a nice bedroom and bath on this "main" level. This is where the adults spent most of our time (porch / kitchen) while the kids enjoyed the game room downstairs (pool table, stereo, tv, sleeper sofa, bedroom w bunk & double bed and full bath + laundry). On the top level there is a spacious master suite w/ comfy king bed & loft with sofa bed + tv. The location is excellent as you are up high enough to catch cool breezes and enjoy the view but you are only a short drive down to Maggie. All in all, we loved this house and location. It is the perfect spot from which to launch your daily adventures as great hiking, whitewater rafting, zip lines/canopy tours, restaurants and scenic drives are all within 10-45 minutes away. We very much enjoyed our stay at High Hopes, we recommend it to others and we look forward to our return visit next summer!

Looked great, too many problems
The house is in a great area, looks wonderful and should be everything one would want. Unfortunately, we did not get what we paid for, and despite assurances, we did not get any relief after. Beyond a bat in the house - which could have come in anywhere, or the mouse in the kitchen (it was getting cold outside), we had poor hot water, no television service, fireplace didn't work (they did come out and turned that on). We called lots of times to get help, and didn't. We were told we'd get a refund, and we didn't. Since we have stayed every year in an area like this, we understand there can be difficulties - but for the price we are paying, we expected support while we were there, or fair recompense for things that were not as advertised.
