Very pleasing stay at the Grand Hotel Sunderland. Would stay again!

It was an average stay, not a memorable experience. Great location though.

Location is fabulous, you cross the road and you are at the beach which is fantastic. The room itself was spacious and the beds were comfortable.

Room was spacious but tired looking. Bathroom was very dated. Breakfast was poor, hardly any fruit, coffee was awful, generally not much choice for a person that doesn't eat sugary treats for breakfast. Staff at reception wasn't very informative, gave me the wrong information regarding parking, didn't know how to book additional time, you would expect more from the information point.

Extremely uncomfortable.

We are frequent visitors to this hotel however future booking may now be in doubt.

The heat in the room was unreal. I appreciate it is the middle of summer but this hotel is advertised as having air conditioning. This however, set at the lowest temperature of 18 degrees was expelling hot air. Maybe this was why the room (354) was equipped with 3 fans. 1 of which was last PAT tested in 2017. With a fan either side of the bed and 1 at the foot of the bed this made for an extremely noisy and uncomfortable night.

All dog friendly rooms have no sea view. I’m a solo traveller so would like a view with my little companion

Nice room with sea view

Very pleasant and helpful staff.

I found the room chilly later on in the evening, but after mentioning it to the receptionist, she very kindly brought an electric heater to my room.

Great stay, Sunderlands best kept secret

Best thing about hotel was the staff, fantastic attitude, very helpful. Location was great, room good size for a twin room

Having to take 2 lifts to get to our room and Noon check out would be nice, also Gym hours could be longer

It’s a bit shabby chic but it’s spotlessly clean and nothing was an issue. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I fell over in the car park due to a massive pothole. I’d rather not have done that …

The receptionist was very rude and very unhelpful, and she was the last time we were there that was the only downfall of our visit

It was hard to find our room and we had a problem with the tv the staff did try to fix the problem but couldn't leaving us with a tv we could hardly hear

We was there for 4 days was busy but we was in a room with no outlook the windows were blocked I asked to change rooms as we were there for four nights they said they was fully booked.

Great stay by the sea!

Front desk staff were super nice, the bar staff also could not have been more helpful. We loved the place and the location. Would definitely book this hotel next time.

Nice stay great location

Bed comfortable rooms a bit dated. Swimming pool sauna steam room jacuzzi all nice.

Do not buy the cocktails. £6 each or 2 for £10 not worth it. Glass is tiny literally 2 mouthfulls

brill hotel and great location, loved it!

Dated ish hotel but wow we loved it! clean and so so comfortable. Great location and car park. we will definitely be booking again. o and the breakfast was far better than any we’ve had in any other hotel.

Very good

Beautiful location, great views and room size is excellent (family room) , lots of space for the family. Staff is very nice and very helpful.

It is a bit tired, could do with an update, however can not fault the cleanliness and beds were really comfy. Parking is a bit of a nightmare at a busy weekend, if you come and go (like you go out for trips etc) you might not get a spot when you come back... not ideal.

Area,sea view,facilities,staff,plenty of towels and pillows and comfortable beds.

Cold room the heating max temp was 24°c the actual max temp felt like 20°c. No hot water around 18.30

bedroom was too cold duvet was a summer quilt and not for the winter lift didn’t work facilities need upgrading … especially the gym … very tired and dirty equipment more cleaning needed … generally maybe not the smoking area in the main entrance corner room had a nice view .. but would be better if the windows were cleaned
