Central position
Close to all shops
The beds creak very loudly, i personally could not sleep propely for 3 nights, in a hostel where the most of the time you only stay there to sleep the beds matter the most

The staff, room and facilities where great. It was super close to all the restaurants, next to the cable cars and a beach under a beautiful old yellow house.
It was a bit noisy as the windows were above the main street. But it didn't disturb my sleep.

Thank you Chistina for your help and your kindness. Looking forward to staying at the hostel again :)

Late check in and communication beforehand was very easy. Generally the staff was very friendly.
It is very noisy in the evening due to its central location and the restaurants outside. So windows were closed at night which made the rooms really hot. The beds could be a bit sturdier. If you or the other person in the upper/lower bed moves the slightest bit the whole bed shakes. No curtains on the beds

The attic common area is completely dusty so cannot hang out there, the shower curtains are mouldy, but the worst was the noise. There is a bar right outside the room window and they play loud music from 6pm until 2am, and people are loud until even later, every day of the week. The lady staff didn’t care at all when we asked her about it. We ended up leaving early and lost the money for the remaining nights we had booked.

Great location, friendly staff. 100 year old building with wooden floors. Two common areas and a kitchen. Plenty of plug outlets and they even give you a padlock for your locker! Great place, would definitely stay again :)
Bunk beds were very squeeky!

Everything was superb. The personable staff. The locality. The people.
Floorboards a bit old, made a loud noise when you walked. Bed a bit squeaky. Door a bit squeaky but fixed with some oil by room mate.

I loved the location and facilities, like kitchen and laundry. Staff was also nice. There was a living room and the attic, but somehow it wasn't much of a gathering point.
You have to be aware, that great location comes with noise. I didn't have problems, but lots of people complained with street noise.
Beds are comfortable, but unstable.
After staff leaves, it'd be nice, if they'd check the toilet paper level.
Living room not being a gathering point became a room for people sleeping on the couch...weird.

Santa Maria hotel is the only one in the world, authentic and romantic.
We paid 3 euros for a towel.

Location is incredible. All you need can be reached quickly and easy.
Expected a bit more backpacker, traveler vibe. Do not have cozy place to meet others. The amount of noise in night was not expected. Its restaurant/bar street, yes, but the windows are completly useless. Even if its arhitectural building, some cheap solutions can be found to help with it a tiny bit.

We stayed in a Superior Double Room with Private Bathroom. The room was big and even though it had a window to the main street, with the windows closed you can't hear the noise. The room is beautifully decorated and feels cosy. The staff was very nice.
The room has a bathroom that looks beautiful, esthetically speaking. But to take a shower in there is not so handy, because the water might go to the floor.

The hostel is very organized and clean. The staff is always available to help and the reception guy (Ruben) is really a nice guy and very helpful.
I recommend it

Very nice atmosphere and relatively good position to everything - also good kitchen utilities. multiple fans in the room to keep the air flowing and spacious lockers
The fridge had months old food and sleeping might be an issue when the pubs down the street are still crowded. Very small cushions

Margarida was friendly and helpful and contactable by phone. They were very trusting. Did a bus tour which they organised last minute which was good.
It is an old building so can be noisy but can't change an old building. People staying need to be more considerate of others when getting up really early in the morning. Nothing to do with the staff. Would I stay there again yes I would as in great location and very helpful and friendly place.

Great location, ambience of the place is nice.
Several of my belongings were stolen (a jacket and a perfume), although they were stored in my closed (!) luggage, while I was staying in dormitory.
Also very noisy at night.

Cristina is so helpful and nice, she'll be glad to answer every question you may have and is always ready to help. The location is great and the place is clean.
I would have love to have a backyard or real living room to hang out and meet other people out of my dorm. The dorm I was staying in, right above Rua Santa Maria, was really noisy during the night and we had a lot of smell from the restaurant downstairs.
