The room was spacious and spotless with very comfortable beds. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and quiet with a really nice river walk. The food was lovely, with a good choice at breakfast. In particular the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were excellent going above and beyond, especially with our small children who were spoilt by Maggie and Josephine! Would definitely recommend for families.

Bediening in bar/restaurant. Josephine verzorgde ons uitstekend.

The staff was really nice and so helpful every time. The room itself was bigger than expected and the cleanliness couldn't be better.
The breakfast (11€), was completed, consisting of a free buffet of pastries and coffee, tea, juices plus a main dish, which could have more sides or seasonings but on average was really good.
There was a giant parking lot as we were renting a car to visit all the territory of Ireland.
We can't complain about a certain thing as we rated that as a 10,0; but giving some constructive feedback would be nice to be told everything about the hotel, as in its essence is really big (for example, installations, gym, swimming pool, timetables, etc.) but the way all the staff treated us was beyond the expectations, giving us the choice of choosing if paying the reservation at that time or later, and also with all the extras.
Well done!

Lovely exterior and amenities.
Josephine went out of her way to accompany me to the apartment to handle TV issue. Young man accompanied us to resolve door locking issue to the apartment.
Morning desk young woman, who confirmed our room was 116 not 115, tried to amend for young woman night clerk's greevious error by offering us a free breakfast.
Night young woman clerk couldn't figure out the keys. After 3 runs upstairs gave us 115, which was occupied!! Said no other rooms but offered bridal suite. We needed 2 beds!! Ended up in an unfinished apartment. Shower backed up! 1 room TV did not work!! We arrived around 9:00pm but did not get lodging until almost 11!

The staff were so helpfull, especially Josie. Her advice was superb. She even came out to say goodbye when we were leaving.
Such a lovely touch that was very much appreciated.
Breakfast was a disaster but issue was resolved

Loved that we could walk to town and use the pool facilities.
Shower pressure in our room was weak .

Excellent staff in the hotel, very friendly.... Especially Josephine in the bar.

We particularly liked the way we were looked after by Josephine and Margaret. Very friendly and clearly very hard working.
The grounds and walk by the river were also lovely.
There were two things I would note. Firstly the floors in the foyer/ stairs/corridors were clearly in need of hoovering but this didn't happen over our two day stay.
I would have liked a bedside lamp as the lighting in the room was poor and it wasn't good enough to read comfortably.

Staff were good food was good.
The rooms were dated and musty
Furniture was horrendous

We stayed here as our son was playing in the Kennedy Cup for the wk. It was close to UL so we could attend games yet we were remote enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city (15 min drive).
The hotels setting is fabulous..with amazing forest/river trail a stone throw away. The village has everything one would need. The pool was fabulous. Whilst the bathrooms were a bit outdated they served their purpose and are part of the charm. This will be a frequented family destination for us in the future
The majority of staff were quiet young and didnt have the same curtious manner as the older staff. The bar menu is pricey for what it was and we waited for 40mins for food when we were the only customers. In the morning en route to brekkie all the chandelier lights were still on and the wall.lights and lamps. It was the same in the dining area.. i just felt it.was unnecessary waste of electricity and drew my focus from the amazing decor.
I would love.to see this property reach its full potential as it is a gem . Im sure covid didnt help maintain its beauty.and i wish the owners all the best in the development of this property

the river walk was nice.
a lot of things I usually wouldn’t complain about but they all happened together. room wasn’t ready till after check in time, towels did have stains on them in bathroom, bed sheets were filthy I really don’t believe they were changed from the person there before us. when I stripped the bed the mattress was also manky no protector on it. nearly €14 for breakfast and wasn’t given any toast with it. just overall something I’d expect from a low budget hotel. expected better from money that was paid. if it wasn’t a 1 night stay I would have requested a room change or cleaner towels and bedding. very disappointed

Beautiful grounds, helpful staff
A bit old fashioned, room unbearably hot, a little grubby and tired in places, needs a makeover.
All the lamps had ill fitting, dirty or damaged shades. Not enough plug points

Nice hotel
Friendly staff
Food came out and was a bit undercooked
Breakfast was mediocre at best
Room was located near the heating system or something which made loads of noise every 15 mins or so which didn't make for a relaxing night away like we had planned.

Comfortable bed
Unfriendly staff, decor especially the bathroom needing a serious upgrade, overall the room was clean but shabby

Everything was top class - from the welcome at reception to the great bar menu, from the friendly and obliging staff to the beautiful grounds, from the size of the family room to the pool and last but not least - the amazing breakfast. Super value for money. My kids want to go back already.
Honestly. Nothing

Great location and area. Beautiful for walks and just to relax.
When I arrived, I waited at reception for a while as no one at desk to check me in. I asked at the bar and was told that there was a staff meeting happening. No issue with the meeting but a sign advising where to go, or how long and where to ask might be an idea.
The other thing was that the heat was always on and I was not able to turn it off or lower it. There was something that looked like a temperature thing but it was broken or looked broken. So the sleep was terrible. I was exhausted in the morning.
The last thing was that my room faced a wall. And it was very close so no view at all.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food was good and atmosphere was relaxed, perfect for us!
The hotel and surrounding grounds were lovely, reflecting the age of the building.
We were there in winter but it would be beautiful in the Summer.
We booked a suite and it was very spacious and comfortable. Can't fault it, really.

The opulence of the building and friendliness of the staff
The price of a small glass of wine 😞

Easy to drive to and find in our rental car. The history and architecture added to the background feel of Ireland. Helpful notes about the residents and how the Castle came to be. Gorgeous landscaping and decor. Complimentary upgrade to a suite, with a dessert platter on welcome for our wedding anniversary.
The building is extremely old (18th century) so it comes with quirks (for instance the plumbing is very noisy; flushing would make a long moaning noise that lasted about 1 minute).
