The staff were great and Chris is very welcoming and helpful. The location is really pretty. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. There is a reasonable amount of parking. The garden is very pretty. Breakfast was well cooked and plenty of it. Its nice to eat in the conservatory in the summer. We would definitely go back although it would be nice to be in the original house as it is older and more characterful with prettier rooms. We ate ar the Thai bistro pub and it was very busy. We'd recommend booking ahead. Food was delicious although service very slow indeed. But they were all working very hard so the delay was just because of the numbers and the place had a good atmosphere. Saffron Walden up the road is delightful for a wander round and we ate there the next night.
The breakfast is cooked and laid out on a trolley with a hot plate but most items were not covered so it was only just warm enough to eat enjoyably. Coming down earlier our next day was better. Also, the rooms in the annexe have thin walls and we were badly disturbed by our neighbour. Chris found us two other rooms to choose from for our second night which was appreciated. He also bought us a drink by way of apology even though it wasn't his fault, which was unexpected and lovely.

Nice buffet breakfast with plenty of options

location was great. breakfast was nice on busy days.
generally shabby. hot water availability patchy. breakfast poor when hotel less busy.

My room was clean and comfortable and cleaned daily. Guests should remember that the building is old, although things like the bathroom have been revamped, so to expect modern finishes is unfair, but I had everything I needed, was very comfortable, loved staying in a historic building, the breakfast was truly FANTASTIC, the staff were friendly and accommodating. The Inn is close to Cambridge and many historic small towns which is a stone's through away. Best place for those who rent a car, because the parking is free. There is no uber in this rural setting and taxi's are expensive. There apparently is bus line. Audley End historic house is only 7 minutes drive. Cambridge is 25 minutes drive. Great place to stay.
I don't have any complaints.

Hotel staff were very welcoming, accommodating and efficient. The gardens were in full bloom providing a beautiful setting for the attractive old Georgian buildings. We had a very comfortable night followed by a really good cooked breakfast. We particularly liked the delicious bacon, sausages and hash browns.

Location and size of room

The hotel is fabulous and full of character. if you like plastic chain hotels it won’t be for you. But, if you want a one off, full of charm hotel this is the one for you. Chris and the rest of the staff were wonderful. It made a refreshing change to stay somewhere where we felt very welcome.

Beautiful property, room was delightful

Space in room ,bed comfy.
Shower space was constricted but warm enough.

Very good cooked breakfast. Easy walk to two pubs in village serving dinner (booking essential).
Fully carpeted floors in bathrooms are somewhat dated.
Not the easiest place to find in the dark as location incorrect on sat-nav/Google. It would help if the sign was illuminated.

breakfast was good . conservatory was a nice venue for meal
Rather tired and not a lot of ambience. Didn’t realise no evening meal offered and no bar facility offered.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room clean and warm, tea and coffee facilities , iron and ironing board provided. It was conveniently located for Cambridge and other surrounding attractions. Plenty if choice for breakfast.
The wifi was poor so had to use 4G on phone, it also meant you couldn’t get some TV programmes and if you used the hair dryer the screen pixilated. We were disappointed that we were in the annex and not the main hotel, as in the web site it showed olde worldly bedrooms which was one of the reasons we booked the hotel because of the character rooms.

Dinner wasn't available but we knew that and it was not an issue. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast before setting off back home.
The room was spacious and well kept, and very comfortable.
There was nothing we didn't like. Very happy with our stay.

The best thing about the Crown House is it has a totally authentic old Inn feel but with all the modern luxuries you'd want from a hotel. The staff went out of their way for us and the breakfast in the morning was lovely. We'll be back!

Room was excellent. Breakfasts were excellent too. Very satisfied.
Only issue was no heating in the breakfast room, one morning, on a morning with 'minus' temperatures outside!

Breakfast was very enjoyable but full English could have been warmer as could the coffee.
Curtains covered all of the radiator allowing the window to enjoy much of the heat

Everything about our stay was impeccable could not fault it. Room was absolutely stunning. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud cannot recommend this place enough. Food absolutely fantastic such a great breakfast (they also offer it to non-residents so even if you are not staying here you must try it!)
Everyone that works here is an absolute delight and it is a pleasure to talk to all of them. Thank you for being so welcoming. An absolute gem in a beautiful village.
Special thanks also as they helped arrange a surprise cake, drinks and balloon for my boyfriends birthday. Nothing was too much trouble everything effortless. We look forward to coming back.
We did not like the fact we had to leave! I tried to sneak the keys out with me!
