About this house rental
This is a beautiful, fully furnished house with large rooms. The neighborhood is on a quiet, low traffic street in Ludlow Park. It is near the Riverdale border, a short walk to the Metro N. train, 5 min. drive to BxM1 and 2 bus. 10 min. drive to Broadway IRT and Van Cortlandt Park. 30-45 min drive to all airports. If you are looking for a place where parking is not an issue and you would like room to roam, this may be the place for you. Kids can play in the back yard away from traffic, and a nice side patio is very pleasant most months of the year. The kitchen is large and a perfect gathering place, situated next to a TV room and dining room if going a little more formal is your speed. Built in the 1920's (no ghosts, promise!) the construction is so solid that the whole family or friends can co-habitate with serious privacy. The living room also offers a welcoming gathering space to have morning coffee or just chill out. It is a little imposing from the outside, but from our family to you we can say that it is a warm and comfortable atmosphere here, and such a nice retreat after a day in the city or travelling elsewhere.
Excellent restaurants, horseback riding, Neighborhood House Pool and children's programs, all NYC attractions.
Because we do not live close by, we have a nice fellow who looks after the place. He resides on the property but there is a separate entrance, assuring privacy.

Super house with for groups and fammily

This house is lovely. We had plenty of room for our large family. There was a bit of ant problem, but we were able to take care of it. The house has an antique feel with modern updates. As with any older home there were a few minor issues such as doors that would not lock. Overall, our stay was a good experience and I recommend this home.

The neighborhood is a very relaxed one, mostly older folks it seems. Grocery stores and public transportation within a few minutes. Easy access to metro north into Manhattan. Our stay was superb as our family visited just about every evening and we had fun playing indoor games. Our son’s birthday was one town over in the Bronx and it was just a 20 minutes drive or less to get there and meet up with other family members who lives in the Bronx and New Rochelle. Thank you so much Ari and Bill.

The property was great! Great communications with Ariel and with Bill! We had been delayed in Denver so were several hours late and Bill had left a message wanting to make sure all was good and that we were okay! We loved the house and all the room. Very nice and quiet neighborhood as well.

Excellent and friendly communication from both owner and groundskeeper. If you read the property description and the reviews, you'll know exactly what you're getting. This is an older home with some quirks, but it feels homey and comfortable. And if you want to cook, you will find everything you need including appliances like a slow cooker, blender, etc. We really enjoyed our stay!

The house is old but very nice and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The kitchen is the prefect place to meet for meals. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. A 10 minute drive to the train and metro took us to download Manhattan. In summary: a very nice house for more than 2 people

The house was a perfect place for several family members to gather and a larger family event in Manhattan. We had a car and parking was very easy on the street in front of the house. The house was large with enough room for each of us to have our own space with a nice kitchen and living area.

This property is perfect for my family. Extremely easy check in. Ample space, plenty of on street parking. Easy commute to NYC. Along with other attractions in Westchester .

Let me start by saying we all (me, husband, 3 Millennials) absolutely loved this house. It is absolutely charming and evokes an age gone by. Yes, it is old….and there is some chipped paint and threadbare carpet. But its charm is undeniable. There is a lovely parlor, dining room, study and kitchen…all huge. Two of the bedrooms have large beds and sitting areas, one (downstairs) has a full bed and another bedroom has two single beds. All the beds are super comfy. We all used the bathroom shower at the top of the stairs, which was fabulous. There is another shower upstairs…and powder room downstairs. We felt right at home.
Our hosts were extremely responsive, and the caretaker (dear Billy) was a gem and was there when I arrived to help me with the lockbox….which was a challenge, so call him and let him know when you are arriving. The kitchen has everything you could need…except coffee filters for the coffee maker, so bring them.
The house is in a nice residential neighborhood with parking right in front….close enough to walk to the Ludlow Metro North station if you are going into NYC.
Finally, the price was extremely reasonable.
We would highly recommend this property.

We wanted a rental that allowed us to meet with extended family, and this property was perfect for that. Ari was very accommodating and easy to contact when necessary. If you want something very modern this might not be the place for you, but the original features and fittings give it lots of charm, which suited us. We had a lovely stay.

It was a perfect place to relax with the family. We felt connected to the guests who came before us and the hosts. Neighborhood was safe and quiet. Host and caretaker were so nice. We loved having plenty of bathrooms comfortable beds and common areas to spend time together.

This is a wonderful huge old lady of a house in a quiet neighborhood. We both felt like we were visiting our grandparents. The kitchen was comfortable but not modern and we loved it. However the round TV room was our favorite hang out.
The garden was big with an area of grass for the kids to run about on. A covered terrace and a covered porch.
The maintenance was a bit shabby, but very adequate especially as we had small children with us. There weren't breakable knickknacks everywhere, and we felt very relaxed.

We were so happy to be close to our old neighborhood in the Bronx and then also a short distance from Manhattan. We were able to have quiet evenings just talking around the kitchen table and then get up early to go explore the places we used to know.
We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. It was nice to also have a desk in each room and plenty of storage. Nice quality bedding too. Thanks for everything.

Grand old house, somewhat modernized, bit by bit. Old single Irishman maintains property and apparantly lives in house when not rented and basement when it is. Recommend he turn on A/C or heat 6 hours before house is available to renter. Sense of addventure helps. Sense of humor required.

We had a wonderful stay!! Our family of five had so much room to spread out and relax after busy days in the city. We walked to the train each morning and back at night. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the TV room was perfect for watching the Lightning win the Stanley Cup. I would wander from room to room and fantasize about the people who had been there before. If you are looking for an historic experience for your stay, this is it.

There were 5 of us, all college friends from Concordia, back for the final weekend's Band Bash. It was the most perfect setting for our reunion and ladies weekend get-away! We all had our own sleeping space, since there were only 5 of us, but the house could easily sleep 8. In the morning, the early riser (me) would get up and make coffee and go to the sunroom to read. We did not use the living room/music room or the dining room, instead hanging out in the kitchen and the side porch. All that we needed was available and the response from Ari was fantastic whenever we had a question. We met Bill upon arrival, and then never knew he was there. Other reviews mentioned broken this or that, but we found nothing broken, nothing leaking, and loved the charm of the house from 1921.
If we were to come to the area again, i would for sure check out this property, be it for a ladies weekend or if i was coming with my family of 5.
Thank you for sharing your home!

Our family was in town for my daughters graduation from Fordham. The description on this house was right on. This is an old house with charm and yes not everything works perfect as with anything that is getting older. Nothing here was an issue or had to fixed in order to have a nice stay. Yes, some doors didn’t open perfectly or always lock but the charm of this place and the area along with the value of the space far outweigh any minor inconveniences that some may have become to expect or even take for granite. The communication from Ari was great and Billy was very helpful in helping us with our mother “grandmother” when it came to some special arrangements which had to be made. It is easy to want things consistent with what we may know or have privilege to but it may serve us better to look for the beauty in all things experienced new. Thank you for sharing your home, it’s history and charm.

My husband and I, along with our 5 adult children, stayed April 30th to May 7th. It was large enough for all of us to relax after a day out and the beds were comfortable.
Communication with Ariel was pleasant. He was quick to respond to my questions and was very helpful.
The aesthetics of the home and the creaky wooden floors are what we loved the most as they lend the house a warm, inviting character. However, there are some things that really should be addressed to bring the place up to it's full potential.
The issues we had are as follows:
- Several doorknobs are either completely disconnected from the door or are connected but simply don't work. The master bath (shared with another room) had one door with the doorknob off so it couldn't be pulled securely shut and the other doorknob didn't catch. Basically, that bathroom allows for zero privacy. My daughter's room - downstairs off the kitchen - had a broken doorknob. On her first night, she pulled her door closed but found that she couldn't open it the next morning. She was trapped in the room until one of us woke up and let her out.
- The water pressure in other sinks and showers was fine but the pressure in the kitchen sink wasn't much more than a trickle and made the cleanup of dishes, etc extremely difficult and time-consuming. Once, as I was filling the watering can to water the plants, the entire spout of the faucet popped completely off, spraying water a couple feet up and completely soaking me.
- The shower in the upstairs hallway didn't work. It's entirely possible we didn't turn the correct knob to get it going but we all ended up showering in my daughter's bathroom or the "master" bath with the doors that don't work.
- The toilet in that bath "ran" every 2 minutes. We had to turn off the water to the toilet in order to sleep at night.
- The master shower head is positioned in a way that doesn't allow entry/exit without water soaking the floor.
- Ants EVERYWHERE. The kitchen was overrun and we sadly lost a box of lobster tails from Carlo's Bakery to them. I spent tons of time trying to kill them but they were endless.
- Patio furniture shown doesn't exist. The chairs feature seats made of woven bungee cords.
- We were told we had to PROVIDE OUR OWN GARBAGE BAGS! Seven people for a week meant we had to take the trash out but we were forced to go buy a box of trash bags! I've never heard of that before in any other home I've ever rented.
We really wanted to love the place.

This property is a grand old house. It's not updated and not modern, it was clean as you expect from old. We enjoyed the the stay. The parking was not a problem even though we parked on the street. A few blocks away ample food availability. If you want lots of space this is the house is for you. Remember the house is old.

So, the house is spacious and there's room to spread out. Other reviewers have said it and it's true: the house is old and it's not the most up-to-date, but there's space, so if you value that, that's a plus. Also, the owner (Ari) is timely with responses. Moreover, my family and I got there by car, which was pretty straight forward, and there's a grocery store/restaurants nearby, so the location is convenient. The misses were the following:1) Cleanliness: The house was quite dusty, like cobwebs and dusty surfaces in several areas of the house. That put me on edge considering we're in a pandemic. Also, I found hair in one of the bathtubs and some of the bathroom sinks/toilets didn't look recently cleaned. I'm not sure how long the house sat unoccupied, but it gave me pause. The sheets, the kitchen, and bath towels seemed clean though.2) Confusion over leaving time: There is a discrepancy in terms of exit time when comparing the contract vs. what is displayed on the VRBO website. I tried reaching out to the caretaker the night before we were supposed to leave (around 7:30 pm), and they took over 12 hours to respond. They responded 10 minutes before the earlier exit time (not helpful). The owner was much faster in that case and they did say we could leave at 11:30 am, so the owner didn't rush us and was quick to respond.3) Cleaning person showing up before the earliest exit time (without warning...and without wearing a mask): I'm actually ok with a cleaning person coming while we were still there, but I almost had an anxiety attack seeing this person around the house without a mask and near my family. Eventually I saw her put on a mask (probably because she heard me freak out), but it put me really on edge and it made me rush even faster to leave.

The house and property are lovely: a nice quite-spacious family home. As an older house, expect a few things not to work perfectly. The owner was highly responsive.
