This was an amazing bed and breakfast. Everything was just lovely- from the artwork, to the antique furniture, the glorious garden and the wonderful breakfast.
Absolutely nothing!

Beautiful room in a quiet location in the center.
Personal attention by Sonia, who was very flexible with the breakfast times.
Which are excellent by the way.

I felt very much at home. It is a wonderful place with various options to sit and talk or work, including a rooftop terrace and a garden. Sonia is a wonderful host. Great breakfast. Recommended.
Nothing really.

Sonia is so very nice. She seeks to help in anyway needed. Our room was perfect and the garden and sitting rooms were fantastic. We will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Cuenca.
I hated to have to leave!

We had the most amazing time in Cuenca at this B&B. Sonia is the best host. She was so helpful with hints and recommandations for our stay. The hotel itself is breathtaking, it gives the impression to enter an oasis in the city. It is luminous, smells amazing (yes you read right) and the decor is extremely well though and classy, lots of antiquities, and warm. The cleanliness is impeccable and this was the only hotel during our 2 weeks trip that would clean our room and provide us with fresh towels everyday. Sonia is an elegant and adorable woman who makes us delicious and healthy breakfasts. We would come back FOR SURE and if there is availability, don't look further and choose this amazing B&B, you won't be disapointed.
It was funny to see the safe not being fixed - basically you could take it under your arm and leave lol So consider this before leaving precious items in it ;)

Excellent host, great location. She gave us an upgrade, without any charges. Great breakfast every day. Room was big and very nice. The casa was super clean. Loved it.
We had to pay 4% bank charges for paying by credit card. Or you pay cash. It came to less than $13, but was worth it. Another thing was to carry your luggage to the second floor on your own, but I could do it. Maybe not everyone can.

The owner of this hotel is so nice, the garden is an oasis in Cuenca. They give a lot of care to to detail, fresh roses in the rooms, delicious breakfasts with fresh juice, spotlessly clean, charmingly designed. Nice place.

This B&B with half a dozen rooms is run by the lovely and welcoming host Sonia. She made us feel at home instantly with her warm and attentive kind (almost like at mother‘s house).
Everything was impeccable: rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast basic but well made, nice garden in the backyard (including sounds of hummingbirds instead of city noise) and of course the always helpful host Sonia.
Water in the shower was warm/hot. Rooms have no heating, but there was no need in June. On the (common area) patio there is a heater for sitting after sunset - nice!
The location is perfect to explore the city, with most (tourist) things only a few walking minutes away. The neighborhood feels very safe (as does the whole city by the way).
All in all: We would definitely stay here again, if we were in Cuenca in the future.
If you get here by car, be aware that you are in the city center and parking is not always easy (or free). The B&B has access to a parking lot closeby which is paid during the week (1$ per hour, free from 8pm to 8am) but free on the weekends.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The central garden was particularly beautiful and well kept. The bathroom was extremely large, with a gorgeous tub. Parking was close and easily available.
Parking was free from 8 PM to 8 AM. After that, it was $1/hour. It would be more convenient for the customers if the parking was free from 6 PM to 10 AM. In other words, free when the sky is dark.

Great location close to everything. Quiet with a beautiful back patio and upstairs sitting area to relax in. Comfortable beds, spotless inside. The breakfasts were delicious. Sonia is the perfect host. She helped arrange our transport to Guayaquil and if you need covid tests there is a pharmacy on the corner that can help. Just ask Sonia. We stayed 5 days and are looking forward to returning in December.

A beautiful vintage casa and garden close to excellent restaurants and the center of town. Our hostess, Sonia, served wonderful breakfasts and was extremely helpful. We would definitely suggest either a room with a view of the garden or a beautiful suite as the less expensive rooms are very small and close together.

Our Deluxe Room upstairs was beautiful, very spacious with sofa and fresh roses on the tables.
Good quality hair dryer - seldom found in the hotels!
Very good & low price laundry service.
Pleasant & friendly staff !
.
Cuenca has lots of nice bakeries; for breakfast it would be nice to get a wider selection e.g. croissants, buns etc. And coffee pot/ juice pitcher.

Casa Montalvo is a treasure among an abundance of accommodation options in Cuenca. Sonia works hard to please guests with beautiful decor that includes her original artwork, comfortable lounge areas & a private garden. Delicious breakfasts are served in a timely manner so you can get on with your day early or relax & eat a little later. Just a short walk to the center of Cuenca, Casa Montalvo is a quiet & safe place that offers exceptional comfort & convenience. The staff is very attentive, with an unmistakable desire to please. The property is centrally located a few blocks from the town center. It is very clean and stylishly accentuated with European designed furnishings. The garden is inviting and a wonderful respite after a busy day. Sonya, the proprietor, is a treasure. This is my new home when I visit Cuenca.

The host Sonia is wonderful and very helpful and friendly. The bed was the most comfortable of any we have stayed in Cuenca. The B&B is quiet during the evening and night, the bathroom is spacious and host provides with enough toiletries during stay. The room is cleaned and refreshed every day. The location is ideal since it is in the Historic center of Cuenca.
Although the temperature of water in shower was always hot, the pressure is a bit low. For the first and almost second day of our stay, we had issues with the internet. Either the internet was super slow or no internet at all. We alerted the host about his issue and she fixed it as soon as she could.

Sofia is professional and helpful lady. She helped us for parking our car and for our bicycles.
I like our the Rooms:have a high ceiling, furnitures are wood, and the floor covering wood, there was always hot water.
In common place I like comfy sitting to reed with the low lights. It has little garden and roof. All the restaurants are nearby the hotel. We are happy that we got what is written in booking.com. Thank you Sofia for your hospitality and see you soon🙋♀️
