Breakfast was ok, nice location
Poor dinner menu selection, wet dog smell, didn’t realise you were so dog friendly, I’m allergic to animal hair so was having reactions all weekend, difficult to charge to the room

Room was cramped with little storage space. Signage to find the hotel was obscured by vegetation when arriving from the A38.

The rooms were very comfortable and the decor was very nice.
Not enough waiting staff ,total absence of floor manager in the mornings ,too many mistakes from the kitchen.
Spoils a nice hotel.

We think that the hotel room itself, although small, was adequate and well decorated with a good en-suite. Coffee and tea facilities were good. We think that the pub / eating area's were very good and the outside will be excellent in the summer.
Having walked 20 minutes back to the hotel we were looking forward to a night cap but because it was 10 / 15 minutes after 2300hrs we were refused even though there was a wedding reception still in full swing. I appreciate that the hotel is in a residential area and that it's not good to have people in high spirits disturbing the locals but all we wanted to do was take a small brandy back to our room. However WE had to put up with the wedding tipping out up to 01.00hrs. This is now the second time it's happened to us as well. Also bad nights sleep due to room being very hot.

Convenient for our requirements
Bar closes early for a hotel. Standard double room quite small, but satisfactory

the property is lovely and having a chocolate and welcome note was lovely
the coffee bags tasted horrible but that’s just my choice. room 2 sink. we washed our hands and the sink was half full of water. there was no way to empty water due to plug. we reported this to reception at 3pm and she wrote it in a book so we expected it sorted when we returned after the party at about 11.30pm. nothing had been done so we had to clean our teeth and wash our hands in the shower. in the morning we saw the room staff who see to the rooms. we told them of the sink as felt embarrassed at leaving like that. they replied they knew as it had been reported a few times and weren’t we told about it. no we weren’t and if we had known we could never have used the sink. a member of staff on leaving apologised and a reduction for goodwill offered. such a shame as the rooms have been decorated lovely and your hotel is in a beautiful setting. if in the area again we would be happy to return to your hotel but it’s important to get the sink sorted.

the rustic setting
my room was dirty, I had a few marks on the cover of the bed. the bathroom was clean but the toilet seat was loose which I had to hold in place and the ceiling of the bathroom had lots of plaster/paper peeling

location
some of the walls in the room were damaged, breakfast took a while to come out and the toast was cold and no beans

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, the food was also excellent.
The room needed remedial decorating work for it to reach a required standard for the price. Signs of damp on the walls (Wallpaper and plaster missing) as well as the bathroom door not closing correctly, and when forced to close the occupant needed help to reopen the door. A lone traveller would have been stuck in the bathroom. Also, excessive mould inside the shower, a little work could make this a lot better, but in its current state the room rate for room only is excessive.
