Amazed by the stunning views and the engaging cultural experiences.
The check-in process was a bit slow.

Loved the peaceful vibes of this place. The view from our room was breathtaking.
Could use a few more vegetarian options for breakfast.

This was a romantic haven. Stunning views and a cozy atmosphere. Hometrek was just what we needed.
Perhaps a few more private spaces for couples.

We were greeted by a sense of calmness the moment we arrived. After a day long trek, the sunrise yoga sessions amidst nature were incredibly rejuvenating.

Serene location, relatively new building/facilities
My private room window was directly facing the walkway to the communal bathrooms, my view was literally their sinks (see photo). I could not open my window cause people would close it from outside, I was hearing every person going to toilet/shower/wash hands, especially at night. Spent 2 nights there and probably sleepy less than 8hrs in total because of the noises.
Breakfast situation was also confusing: staff informed me that breakfast starts 7am which I opted for, but then early morning they said it would be 8am. Waited 45min for pancakes so I started day already 2 hours late

Great for solo travellers! The atmosphere was more like a chill hostel as it’s quite a large homestay but Zizi still made us all feel at home! It was also really great value for the room - family dinner and other meals are extra but felt reasonably priced
Often a queue at front desk as was one line to order food/organise tours/check out but understandable as it’s still a small family run place

Ahh, talk about a breath of fresh air! Hometrek is just what we needed to recharge our batteries. We've been unwinding, relaxing, and feeling totally refreshed. It's like hitting the reset button on life – we're loving it!
Yeah, language barrier can be tough, but they're really patient and do their best to help you out.

I arrived in the middle of the week, not many tourists staying here, the place was very quiet. I had good peaceful sleep at night. The breakfast was Vietnamese style, the food filled my stomach. I took a slow walk down to the valley, bought some fruits from the village shops, took photos, enjoyed the fresh air. It was good exercise for an old man like me, who are not fit enough for long multi-hours trek. I came to the homestay without high expectation, I left the resort a happy man. I will visit the resort again in the future. It's a nice place for a short respite from the noisy city life. A two night stay is ideal.
There were some litter, e.g. beer can, food wrapper, etc., in front of the balcony among the shrubs, thrown by the previous room occupiers. Would be nice a more frequent litter pick-up is carried out. This is just a small issue that I believe the management will resolve very quickly.

The bathrooms may have basic amenities, so guests should be prepared to bring their own toiletries like shampoo and soap.
4.6
The homestay has feature traditional decorations, such as colorful textiles and tapestries that add character to the interiors. The home can arrange personalized tours to cater to the interests and preferences of individual guests or small groups.
You'll be closer to nature at Homestay, which means you may hear sounds of nature, such as insects and wildlife, which could be distracting for light sleepers.

Hmong Sister House usually include traditional meals prepared by the host family. This allows you to savor local dishes and flavors that might not be readily available in restaurants. Hmong Sister House may rent out hiking equipment, such as trekking poles and rain gear, making it convenient for guests to embark on outdoor adventures fully equipped.
There may be encounters with insects or small creatures. Some visitors may find this inconvenient if they are not used to rural life.

The location of Hmong Sister House is a perfect place to relax and chill, it is far from the central town, very quiet. However the way to the down town is really short and convenient. The owner is absolutely amazing, she give me the feel like I am at my house, the room is clean with interesting decorations and paintings. I would like to recommend you to choose this homestay if you want to stay near Sa Pa center and a quiet place to relax after a long day discovering Sa Pa.

The guided treks through the beautiful landscapes allowed us to connect with nature and learn about the local culture. The rooms were comfortable and cozy, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploration. The traditional meals were a culinary delight, offering a taste of authentic Vietnamese flavors. If we had to mention a minor complaint, it would be that the Wi-Fi signal could be weak at times. However, it allowed us to disconnect from technology and fully immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings. The shower water temperature could also be inconsistent, but it did not significantly impact our overall experience. These minor inconveniences were easily overshadowed by the warm hospitality and amazing experiences at Hmong Sister House. Come here and experience the hospitality!

It was at a great location with an amazing view. The food was perfect. We recommend to have the family dinner it is well worth the money. If you need it there is an option to wash your clothes in a washing machine for a good price.
There were only 3 toilets and showers for the whole homestay and sometimes we needed to wait for some time.

One of the things that made my stay so special was the trek that I went on. While the accommodations were basic, the trek itself was anything but. Led by a local guide, I was able to explore the stunning countryside of Sapa in a way that felt truly authentic. We hiked through lush forests, past sparkling waterfalls, and up steep mountainsides, taking in breathtaking views every step of the way.
The host, Lily, was incredibly thoughtful and went above and beyond to ensure that I had a great experience. She was always available to answer any questions I had, and was happy to share her knowledge of Hmong culture and way of life. Additionally, I was able to meet other travelers from all over the world who were staying at the homestay, and we quickly became friends, sharing meals and stories together.
The accommodations themselves were basic, but clean and comfortable. I had everything I needed, including a cozy bed, a hot shower, and a mosquito net to keep the bugs away. The homestay also had all the basic amenities I required, such as free Wi-Fi and a communal area where I could relax and socialize with other guests.
Overall, my stay at Hmong Sister House was a truly wonderful experience. The trek was unforgettable, the host was thoughtful and welcoming, and the opportunity to meet other travelers and make new friends was a true highlight. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience in Sapa.

our trekking guide Chili was absolutely lovely, the trek itself was beautiful, we didn’t meet any other tourists. they made us a yummy dinner and ate with us at the homestay on the trek.
the place is definitely more a hostel than a homestay, the staff there was not enthusiastic, seemed like they did not want to be there.

I wanted to share with you my family's recent adventure in Vietnam, where we had the pleasure of staying at the Hmong Sister House and trekking. It was an excellent choice for our family of four, which includes my husband, myself, and our children.
The highlight of our trip was the Hometrek from Sapa town to the homestay. Although it was our first time hiking, our tour guide, Chu, a black Hmong lady, was patient and made the trek easy for us. We saw breathtaking views and learned a lot about the local culture and history.
Our stay at the Hmong Sister House and trekking allowed us to experience the authentic lifestyle of the Hmong people. The traditional Hmong house was beautifully decorated, and we had a comfortable and cozy stay. Lyly and her family, the homestay's hostess, were welcoming and made us feel at home.
Throughout our trip, we met friendly locals who were eager to share their stories and culture with us. We were impressed by the resilience and sense of community among them.
In conclusion, our family highly recommends the Hmong Sister House and trekking to anyone looking to experience the beauty and authenticity of Vietnam. We would like to thank Lyly and her family for their warm hospitality and making our stay unforgettable. We hope to return one day to explore more of this fascinating country.

Sapa is a mountainous town in the northern region of Vietnam, famous for its stunning natural beauty and diverse ethnic culture. Among the many ethnic groups that call Sapa home, the Hmong people are the most well-known, with their distinctive clothing, customs, and traditions.
As a nature enthusiast and culture buff, I was eager to explore Sapa and learn more about the Hmong people. And the Buffalo Trek offered the perfect opportunity to do so.
Led by the knowledgeable and friendly guide, Chili, we embarked on a two-day trek through the breathtaking landscape of Sapa, including the picturesque villages, valleys, and forests. Along the way, we were treated to stunning views of the rice terraces, waterfalls, and mountain ranges.
But what truly made the experience special was our interaction with the Hmong people. We visited their homes, shared meals with them, and learned about their daily life and traditions. It was a humbling and eye-opening experience that left us with a deep appreciation for their rich culture and history.
The Buffalo Trek also impressed us with its high level of service and organization. The hosts were very accommodating and took care of everything, from arranging transportation to providing equipment rentals, ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience.
Overall, the Buffalo Trek was a truly unforgettable experience that offered a unique insight into the natural beauty and rich culture of Sapa. If you're looking to explore this stunning region and learn more about the Hmong people, I highly recommend this trek.

The Buffalo Trek offered by Hmong Sister House is a fantastic experience, made even better by the amazing guide, Chu. Chu is not only knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, but also about the cultural traditions of the Hmong people. Throughout the two-day trek, Chu is always there to offer assistance and make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. His passion for the region is infectious, and he has a way of making everyone feel like family. The trek itself is stunning, with a variety of terrain to navigate, including waterfalls, streams, and valleys. Spending a night at the Buffalo House in the forest is a highlight, and the warmth and hospitality of the locals is truly heartwarming. Overall, the Buffalo Trek with Chu is an unforgettable experience that offers a rare glimpse into the natural wonders and cultural traditions of Vietnam.

This rustic homestay in the middle of a bamboo forest was absolutely incredible! The soothing sound of the flowing stream next to the house made falling asleep and waking up an unforgettable experience. The beautiful scenery around the area included stunning mountains and friendly dogs and cats. Although the trek up to the cabin is steep, it's worth it for the breathtaking views. The space heater provided helped with the chilly weather, so make sure to dress warmly. While there are a couple of restaurants at the bottom of the hill, the available breakfast is a great option, and the family dinner is a must-try. Cookie was an amazing host and made our stay memorable. This was my favorite stay in Vietnam so far, and I can't wait to return when it's warmer. And thanks to the recommendation, checking out at night gave me more time to enjoy the area and order food and service even after check-out. Overall, this exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend this beautiful cabin in the bamboo forest.

Went in March . It rained in the morning but we decided to go ahead. We were a group of 5 and we chose the Buffalo trek. The decision to change into wellies was great due to the slippery mud and steep climbs up and down. The Hmong ladies that followed us were a great assistance on the slopes. One of them was 75 and another, 17, carrying a 10mth baby on her back whilst traversing the slopes. Lunch was yummy. We bought stuff from the ladies that walked with us all the way to lunch. It was not easy because of the wet trails and mud. You don’t have to but looking at the way they earn a living, it’s the least we could do for their efforts. The rice terraces were beautiful, we saw many animals and the guide was knowledgeable. Highly recommend but go the easy route if you want to chill and be clean. Much respect to the Hmong women who make a living this way. The house is basic but they have all amenities that you need and you meet a lot of friends
The service might be slow because they are not professional area and sometime the house can be a little bit crowded

The stuff was very nice
far from the center (about 20 min driving)
I sent a laundry and didn’t got back my towel
I got there in the middle of the night and it was locked (lucky me; some girl go to the toilet and open for me the door)

Great family dinner, good place to meet some other travelers on a trek for example. Good dorms and hot shower.

We had an amazing trekking tour - would highly recommend! We stayed at the buffalo house in the jungle, and they have links with many local sister guide so they can provide many kind of treks. Took us on great trekking trails and helped us understand a bit about life in Sapa. She was a wonderful tour guide and we couldn't speak more highly of her - very enthusiastic and knowledgable!. The house is small but we love it, that's enough for the stay in Sapa
The weather is quite cold when we was there and they don't have heater

Hmong sister house will be a stay that I remember forever. Lily helped organise some pretty memorable experiences, including Fansipan trek, a motorbike tour around the mountains including a stop at a waterfall, and just having family dinners with all of the staff/family & guests outside was pretty special. I truly got to relax and forget about reality, and I really hope to return one day soon.
I stayed in a private room with private bathroom beside a garden, and slept peacefully every night :)
And sometimes they have big cashback promotion, if you are lucky :)

I cannot recommend Lily and her Home-trek enough. She may be the friendliest person my wife and I have ever met, and She genuinely cared to give each guest a wonderful experience. She made sure to stop throughout the trek to point out different aspects of the area and their significance, which we would have otherwise simply walked past without considering. The walk itself is somewhat challenging at times, especially since we arrived right toward the end of a strong rainfall. Be prepared with shoes that you are fine to see totally caked in mud! All along the way, Lily and a few women from the Black Hmong minority helped us keep going through some of the more difficult parts of the trek. The views were just amazing. The entire time, I found myself in awe of the mountains, the rice fields, the river, the homes, the people, and the animals. Simply gorgeous. The homestay greatly exceeded our expectations. The family was very kind and served a wonderful family style meal. We had a very insightful conversation with the mother who owns the homestay, learning a great deal about what it means to live as a Black Hmong. The shower was powerful and hot, the rooms were spacious and cool. The beer was cold. The rice wine was flowing. Don’t drink too much if you have more trekking to do the next day (Speaking from experience here. Ouch.).
We wished we had booked one more day just so we could continue spending time with Lily in the mountains. This is a must-do experience if you are visiting northern Vietnam.

My fiancé and I had an incredible experience doing the Buffalo trek with Lily and at the homestay. Each part of the two days was well-planned out, and Lily was very good at letting us know what to expect. We had never been to Vietnam, let alone a small city like Sapa, so we didn’t know quite what we had signed up for. In the end, we were so happy we did it!
Lily is a part of the Hmong community and is a true local. Apparently, as tourism in Sapa has increased, more Vietnamese people (as opposed to Hmong or other local minority groups) have been opening homestays in this beautiful mountain city. Lily is very passionate about supporting the local minority villages and truly wants to educate tourists on local customs and traditions. I felt very privileged to have such a knowledgeable guide who spoke English to really give us great insight into the local culture, history of the land, and differences in customs of each minority group as well as their relationship with the Vietnamese people.
The trek we went on was moderate-difficult intensity. The first day was longer and more difficult (10 miles) and the second day was moderate intensity and 5 miles long. Lily knows many routes to get to the homestay, so he can modify the difficulty level of the trek depending on the people in the group. The views along the way were incredible and were absolutely worth the effort.
The homestay is owned by a Hmong family who are very accommodating. Sometimes other people from outside of Airbnb stay there as well – for example, there was a group of ~10-12 college students that were staying there the same night. We all shared a delicious home-cooked dinner (the rice was from their own rice field), and every got along well. We were able to have a hot shower and facilities were clean (especially considering the home stay is in the countryside). Mosquito-nets for each bed were very useful!
I HIGHLY recommend doing this trek/homestay for anyone visiting Vietnam!

Great location in a lovely part of the world. The Buffalo and Home Trek are must dos!
4.6
Great location to explore the area around Sa Pa, a little further away from the main touris area. The family dinner is super tasty and a great way to meet the other guests. I did the hometrek and joined a group of others to do the buffalotrek. Both were very enjoyable and especially the buffalotrek went off the beaten path (as much as possible for Sa Pa). The room was basic but good value for money. Overall a nice experience.
Anything to do with the reception took some time. I didn't really mind it, but some people had to wait a very long time just to order breakfast, check out, ... So better not be in a hurry.
4.6
The Buffalo tour is worth 6 stars. Lily is very knowledgeable, friendly, and fun. The trekking is beautiful (many views of the rivers, water buffalo, rice fields, bamboo forest, waterfall, etc) , and she has alternate routes depending on whether you’d like to hike a little or a lot each day. We did the longer trek the first day and the shorter the second day. The food both on the trek and at the home stay was the best food we’ve had in all of Vietnam (so far we have been in HCMC, Hanoi and Sa Pa). The home where you stay the night is also very wonderful and spacious, with delightful hosts. To anyone visiting Vietnam or having an interest in Hmong culture, I highly recommend!

Hmong Sister House is probably one of the best experiences I've done in Viet Nam. Lily is a welcoming & friendly host. She picked us up from our hotel and offered customisations throughout the experience as we needed. she shared interesting insights about life in the villages, people from the different Sapa tribes and their ways of living. we visited her beautiful house and ate at an excellent home cooked vegetarian meal and ended with rice wine. for me this experience was like a cultural immersion into the life of lao cai residents, one that will stay with me forever. highly recommend Lily, she's amazing!
