I had a wonderful stay!
Amazing staff greeting you with a smile in the morning was like seeing another sunrise.
The scent of coffee in the kitchen.
Sharing the coffee, the meals, the beers, the thoughts, the moments, the waves.
All of which are travelling surfer dreams.
Surfed some of my best waves and seen some of most jaw-dropping sunsets here,
just 3-5 mins from the house (GiGi beach).
The owner is a kind soul and always helpful. It's already my seventh time in Baleal Guesthouse, and coming here feels like visiting a friends house. That's the vibe, all of the guests turn from strangers to friends in the matter of days (or sunsets :))). Knowing Baleal inside and out I cannot recommend a better place to stay and hang out.
See you next year!

The vibe at the hostel was very nice and cozy. I liked how organized things were: you got your own shelf from the fridge and a container for dry food. The curtain in the bed is a big plus!
There is also a good surf beach close by.
Some small fixes could be done. 2/3 showers were missing a shower holder and the washing machine was broken.

Very welcoming tenants. The house is really cozy and well furnished.
Beds are minimalistic and crack a lot.

I enjoyed my stay very much, would have loved to stay longer. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, everything was very clean and I liked the little chilloutareas in and around the house. The rooms were cute and I really liked the atmosphere of the guesthouse. Also it was so close to the Surfshop. I really want to come back :)

I loved the vibe of the place, it was cosy.

It‘s located close to the beaches and the people are very friendly.
Everything was very chaotic, the rooms are very full and there is not really space to put your things. Also it smelled a little musty in the room. The neighbourhood is quite lound and you can hear a lot through the walls.

Good info about the area,
Nice rooms
Adequate showers
Surfboard storage in the backyard
Location is close enough for most things
Baleal overall is a great surfspot and the bars and surfculture is spot on 🤙 liked it a lot
Staff was more minding their own business which is totally fine, just the comments before mentioned a "family atmosphere" which wasnt there.
Dont get me wrong they were all fine but we found people more welcoming and integrating in the other Hostels and surfcamps/Houses = The Parties /gatherings were in other places

I love Baleal Guest House! At the beginning of October I arrived there as a volunteer and I had the time of my life:) Even after my month of volunteering was over, I couldn’t stay away and returned as a guest. The house itself is great- kitchen is the perfect size and well equipped, the dorms are comfy, the common area is cosy and the outdoor terrace is a perfect sun trap to chill out in. What I loved most about BGH though is the atmosphere, it truly feels like home when you stay there. The people who you live with quickly become like family as it is a small place and you have time to get to know everyone really well - I made many friends for life:) The location is also amazing, a 5 minute walk to surf spots on Lagide Beach and a 1 minute walk to the nearest shop! Bruno the owner is also brilliant- he is so welcoming and will go over and above to make sure you have everything you need for your time in Baleal. I couldn’t recommend staying here enough- I can guarantee that anyone who visits will have a magical experience:)

Personally this is my favourite hostel I've stayed in Portugal. It literally functions like a shared house, every time I've stayed here I've formed connections with the volunteers and other guests so quickly, its like a big family. The kitchen is an actual fully equipped and functional kitchen, unlike what you tend to find in hostels. The views from both balconies are lush, the terrace is a suntrap, the living room is cosy, the beds are some of the comfiest I've slept in in hostels, if your in petrol dorm you even get a curtain across your bunk which makes SUCH a difference to having a sense of privacy. Walk less than a minute out the front door and your on the cliffs from which you can check the surf at Prainha, Lagide, Gigis & Secrets, plus its a beaut of a spot to watch the sunset (which you will probably do every night). Bruno (the owner) pops in most days and is an absolute legend, super helpful and just all round great guy. Special shout out to Aoibhin, Jana & Lena (the current volunteers) who keep the house in order, keep the vibe alive and are genuinely three of the most beautiful souls I met on this trip - hope this review gets you some kind of bonus (Bruno I'm looking at you).
The idea of painting a big orange fish in the new co working space - please don't
