Great location for touring the Pay D’Auge.
A more traditional, less modern hotel which was nice.
The restaurant. Had some very good meals there. Very good and well cooked traditional food. Went there every night of our stay.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good service.
Our rooms were not made up until late in the day. We spent most of our days out touring but came back to find the room unmade. Bit frustrating as we wanted to freshen up after a long day.

Lovely vintage feel to the hotel, high ceilings and great location. We had excellent twin rooms, joined by private corridor. These were perfect for a family, with kids having their own room but next door to the parents for some privacy yet with huge convenience. Two bathrooms, everything very clean.
Children's menu in the restaurant was very limited and the 'pasta with ham' just included ham slices - if they want to offer a children's food menu item then they need to consider what exactly children would want to eat.

Well set up for families, great location, secure parking, friendly and helpful staff.

historic architecture and well kept. staff were helpful and spoke good English. the restaurant was great for a tasty traditional family meal at a decent price.
initially we were given keys to a room that hadn’t been made up but staff were quick to rectify the situation.

The property is very centrally located with free on-street parking options, within an easy walk. It features a very grand though charming entrance/foyer. It offered a full buffet breakfast at a very affordable price. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful.

Good location and parking
All good

Very friendly staff who were able to assist as required. Was able to change room fairly quickly. Good location.
Room sizes were a little smaller, particularly the shower area was very tight.

Helpful staff, quiet room and excellent food in restaurant
The rather grumpy 'chef' Alain, obviously not enjoying the clientele, but maybe this was due to his Sunday evening service, and oh yes : such a filthy apron he was wearing!😒

The bed was comfortable and the reception staff fri.
The evening meal had very little authentic food, almost fast food.
The tables in the breakfast area needed wiping over and again, more fast food. Coffee and milk was from a machine and not a good flavour.

The distance from all point. I love the beautiful facade of the hotel and the color combination Bed was comfortable. All the staff are attentive to the needs of the guest. We stayed 2 nights and at 1st night, it was about midnight the lights was off suddenly, the assigned desk officer that night has fix right away the problem.
The little problem is in the restaurant, their menu was written only in French and no pictures, about how it looks like that plate or dish.

The hotel is in a large & gracious building, well located in the city. The staff were enthusiastic & professional. The room was very clean & comfortable. There is a garage for which you pay a daily fee.
We also enjoyed the food in the onsite restaurant: a varied bistro menu, generous portions & a complementary Calvados. The size of hotel means it is good for groups, but spacious enough to not be crowded.
No complaints

Traditional hotel in a main street but with garage parking available.
Our room was compact but fine for one night. Tired so dined in at hotel which had a large traditional menu & was good value. The food was not outstanding but when travelling the meal is functional for us. The breakfast also had plenty of choice.
The en-suite was very compact! But OK for 1 night.

The lobby and public rooms were pleasantly furnished. The man at the reception during the day was very nice and obviously tried hard to please. The location was handy for me. The shower was hot and strong.
I specifically asked for a quiet room when I booked my accommodation. The most important thing for me is to get a good night’s sleep - probably what we all want! Although my room was on the quiet side of the hotel, the noise coming into my room from other sources bothered me. In the room above there was constant movement for a couple of hours after I checked in. In the evening there was noise from another impossible to locate source. All very frustrating for me as I am noise sensitive and a very light sleeper. If I had been told I would need to upgrade my room when I booked, I would have done so.
Also, the wifi in my room was non-existent and the evening clerk was disinterested and fobbed me off with a “I’ll get someone to look at it” response.
I was looking forward to my stay here, but it turns out it was an experience I would rather forget. If you can’t cope with noise consider upgrading to a high floor or find another hotel.

Didn’t have it!

The property was close to everything. It had indoor parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were a good size. Updated, but still maintained its character.
The restaurant was closed because work was being done on it. There was no air conditioning, however there was a Juliet balcony door that could be opened. Breakfast was standard, should have just gone to a cafe for my coffee and Croissant.

The check in was smooth with 2 very helpful and patient agents. We arrived late at 615pm. But we still had a very smooth check in. The room was a good size, decorated cool. The shower did leak out of the rubber piece on the bottom of the glass door, a lot no matter how we adjusted the shower head . We advised the desk agent in the morning, we would just hate not to say anything and the floor eventually leak into the 2nd floor from water damage.
The restaurant should hold a few tables for couple or single travelers who are staying in the hotel, not just the big tour bus groups. We walked around to get some exercise and check out the area. After looking around we both thought that the menu at the Hotel De'Esperance was more our taste. So although we were not going to eat there due to the extremely loud bus tour groups eating in the restaurant we decided to walk back by 7pm to be told no room for us other couples staying at the hotel were also turned away. I have low sugar and really got upset and sensitive at this point because i really needed to eat soon and the tour bus groups should not be priority, ( I was a travel agent for 28 years and believe me, I know that is where the money is, I get it.)
The saving grace was the Manager who came out to the checkin area and was kind enough to find a solution. If we could wait 30 minutes he would get us situated. The other couple was offered the same. He offered us a glass of wine to relax and some peanuts since no fault of his, but to help with my sugar issue. We were seated and had a wonderful meal, the manager explained they had only been open for 3 weeks and were learning along the way. The restaurant was beautiful and historic. Being history lovers we enjoyed that.

The hotel is well located with easy access to parking, a welcoming lobby and small bar with lots of comfortable chairs and couches. Pretty dining room with high ceilings and beautiful art deco features like the chandeliers. All the staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. I especially liked the young woman who waited on us at dinner. She was smiling and so cheerful even though they were packed with the bus tours. We had a two room apartment and it was comfy and clean. A shared bath. It would be a very good arrangement for a family with young kids.
Not a complaint, but observation for other travelers. There were 3 bus tours staying at the hotel while we were there. from US, Sweden, and Suisse. This of course affected the dining room the most. The first night we were there we made a reservation for dinner and because of that we were seated, but many guests were turned away. At breakfast both days, we arrived after the groups and the room was filled with dirty dishes on half the tables and a rather sad buffet, but there were plenty of options for a good breakfast to be had.

The room was as expected after viewing on line. The building is really lovely but the style of the bedroom interior doesn't really follow the same style. That said, it's clean, tidy and more than comfortable so I can't complain!
As noted above the style of the room doesn't reflect the style of the hotel building. This is a personal thing, but it wouldn't stop us returning.
