DO NOT STAY HERE! They are swindlers. They charged me through booking.com, canceled my reservation and charged me again at check out. When booking.com investigated, they said I was never there.
I booked a room in my name at Domus Florentiae many weeks in advance on booking.com. On the day of our reservation, trains were on strike so I was not sure we would be able to travel from Rome to Florence. I called and spoke to the manager, Enzo, gave him my name and confirmation #, and asked if cancelation was a possibility. He said no, it was too late. I said okay, we would try. We made it to Florence late evening.
As I approached the desk Enzo greeted me by name, confirmed it was me, and said "you made it." He was curt and grumpy. He showed us our room. We settled in and, as it was early, I went to sit in the lobby to comfortably relax before going to bed. Enzo was stretched out on the sofa, watching TV. I went back to my room. A little later, I had a question and request; Enzo grudgingly accommodated.
We checked out the next day and paid in full for the night not realizing booking.com had already charged my credit card for the room. The next day I realized I was double charged. I communicated with booking.com. They investigated, and were told by the hotel that I was never there. After emailing me and rechecking with the hotel, booking.com was told I had canceled and rebooked on their web site. I DID NOT! I believe Enzo canceled me and rebooked me himself. I called the hotel to speak to the manager. It was Enzo. I started to ask about the situation so that I could get a refund for one of the payments. He raised his voice; he talked over me and when he finally paused, I asked if I could talk. He hung up on me. I called back 4 times. He hung up on me every time. Do Not Stay Here!

Breakfast could have fresh whole meal bread and more fresh fruit choices .. the breakfast room was lovely and the staff very friendly . The reception were very helpful cheerful and professional. We loved the location, perfect for our trip and in the middle of everything so we could walk everywhere. The room was very clean and the furnishings very nice. Good quality and stylish.
The breakfast could have had more fruit selection and better fresh bread choice and gluten free. A gluten free eater needs more bread choices - would be nice to have hot bacon.

I’ve traveled through 20+ countries and have never been treated so poorly by staff at my accommodation. I cannot stress this enough - book elsewhere. After returning to my room for my first evening in Florence, I found out that none of the electrical outlets/sockets worked. Therefore, I couldn’t charge anything, nor use any electrical equipment in the room, which is essential for a hotel stay, but the ability and importance of this was entirely lost on Giacomo (name I was provided), the concierge that night, who repeatedly yelled at me that it must be my phone and I wasn’t telling the truth about the room because “the electricity is fine” in the room. He also suggested I leave my phone with him overnight to charge and reclaim it in the morning, which is an unacceptable suggestion or solution. He also initially refused to contact the manager because “he is away for the weekend and busy.” Sure. After multiple rounds of him not believing me, I had him test his own personal iPhone charger in the room. Guess what? It didn’t work either. That was when he decided he could actually call the manager. The manager, who also stated he was the owner of the hotel, wouldn’t offer a room change that night nor a refund. He was also insistent I stay the night in the room I was originally given and then wait until the next day when he could be in the hotel and have me moved into a different room. As if my vacation revolves around an undetermined time the manager can appear to relocate me to another room the next day? Because the hotel could not provide a suitable and fully equipped room that night, I checked out that first night and relocated to a superior hotel that actually deserves its four stars. Seriously, how does this hotel have a four-star classification? It is barely a two-star hotel, and honestly, I’ve stayed at hostels that are nicer.

The hotel is located in an ancient building that was formerly a residence for a noble family. The hotel is a great experience. And all the staff are great.
Some noise from the adjacent street and this is beyond the hotel's control

Position and comfort
Maybe just a bit too small the breakfast room when everybody was there at the same time

Close to city center and main train station. Nice breakfast and very cool historical ambience in the hotel and rooms at all. Helpful and elegant personnel, especially Taulant was a professional guy gave us significant knowledge about the city in general. Thank you for all.
Nothing really.

bathroom was a little dated in our first room

Nice boutique hotel with a great location. Nice personel and very clean room. Breakfast was just ok, big plus for making fresh coffee by Staff. We had a felling that for ex. eggs on saturday breakfast were the same which were cooked day before.
Personel need some new uniforms, which were very used and not good looking. Kettel in room had very short cable and pluger didn't fit - it fits in bathroom ;)

the hotel has a very good location, near the train station, with meeting points nearby. The hotel is very clean and tidy.
The shower door could not be closed, and it was difficult to take a bath

Location
Room was like a sauna with no air flow and if we opened windows we were attacked by mosquitoes. Also took about 35 minutes to check out due to bad internet for credit card (almost missed train).

The room was newly painted, doors, furniture & beds were just renewed. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a few minute walk from train station, tram to airport is just located at the back of the hotel. Breakfast
The bathroom utensils are old, and are expected to renew soon.

Nothing. All good.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. A warm welcome and nice recommendation for the area. Located very central and just a short walk from train station. so ideally for joining tours to Chianti area or other places in Tuscany.
Also cosy balcony for breakfast. Fare selection for the breakfast- fruits, bread, pastries, yogurt etc.
Unfortunately not what I expected as 4*. No hair condition. My shower didn’t have a shelf for the soap (great smell of the soap).
And the toilet flush was a bit tricky every time, but just push it. It does work :-)

The breakfast was nice. The staff goes above and beyond to answer questions, make reservations, offer advice, etc ... Any requests was immediately taken care of. We would absolutely stay there again.
The mini bar could actually come with liquor. I understand these can be labor intensive but it would be nice as the hotel doesn't have a bar. Also, there wasn't one TV station I could find that broadcast in English. If you could correct these two deficiencies I would give you five stars.
