Very friendly and efficient staff. Accommodation was basic but very comfortable
I know it’s a sanctuary but felt sad to see animals in Cages

Fantastic bush experience amongst the wildlife. The 1 hour wild cat tour was exceptional.

The tour was fantastic and the staff does absolutely incredible work with the animals. Beautiful premises with large cages. Very special to get so close to the big cats!
Rooms were so-so with some issues like one of the doors not locking, trouble getting the shower to heat or little privacy for the bathrooms. Dinner was very overpriced for what it was (much better options very close by in the area).

The breakfast was okay but the plates were cold so the breakfast gets cold. The fried eggs were poorly prepared. The cables and wired at the bedside were chaotic and we had to figure out which was which.

The accomodation was spacoius and clean, we stayed in the main house and two bedroom guest house, we were 7 guests. We took half board, breakfast and dinner were delicious, the cook informed us everyday of the meal he is going to prepare and if we have any special requests. A fire was lit every evening, in the Boma near the cheetah inclosure. The staff we amazing, helping us out with everything we needed. Went on a long private tour, which was very informative and were able to get amazing pictures, the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, he was also very patient and accomodating with all our photography requests. You can't get touch the animals any more due to new laws, but we were able to get amazing pictures. We heard the lions calling and was amazing to walk around the property and enjoy nature. We have been here a few times and make an effort to come and visit Tenikwa each time we are in SA. I highly recommend this place, the staff sre amazing, the facilities are clean and spacious, good food and close to monkeyland, birds of eden and other places. Great location. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
No heating in the rooms, was a bit cold, but they did supply extra blankets. Which kept us warm at night.

Seeing the lions from our cabin before going to bed and first thing in the morning. The staff were awesome and ensured we had a great stay. We did the Cats in Conservation do it was great to be on site to start at 7.30am. Masisi was an incredible guide and made our tour around the site very informative and taught us a lot about Tenikwa's mission.
Not realising we could have got 10% off tours as we were staying on site

Service was great, with very attentive staff. The meal was made in a small dining room where the three parties that were staying that night were made to feel welcome, with a roaring fire to keep us warm. The Eco Kidz tour the next morning with Ash was excellent and there was no one else there looking around at that time. Enjoyed by all, including our 9 year old.
The bathroom was separated from the room by a shower curtain only.

The Lions up close were amazing!

Owners were very friendly and inviting. Staff were accommodating. Cabins were cute and comfortable. The lions were the main event for us. You can see them from the bed or porch. He had a beautiful braai and could watch the lions the whole time.
I wish we would have booked longer. I hated to leave.

We absolutely loved the breakfast and the pond with the marabou birds! The appartment was very spacious but we missed a little couch in a room to hang out at night but all in all it was a very good stay.

Very worthwhile tour and an unusual place to stay, lovely owners and staff and the evening meals very tasty.part of the payment for the evening is having to give the resident pugs a cuddle😀

Staff very sarcastic and hinting for tips.

the goal of the park is super and it is really nice to see the animals, although behind a fence, to see from this close.
house is super dated, garden not looked after and looks more like little jails then a home. staff is not friendly and show no enthusiasm at all. breakfast was really really poor.

The location, the breakfast and bed were fantastic. Dan and Len were accommodating and so friendly and helpful. Thanks for lending us a wheelchair. Also great help with advice and information about the region. Great location. The cleaning lady was fantastic. Recommended!
Nothing really except possibly advice.
A chair/small table in the bathroom for disabled/elderly .
Perhaps an wheelchair accessible shower in one room.
Also with loadshedding... Running water is a huge necessity especially if guests come in late after traveling.

We all loved the closeness to the wild life and being within a destination that makes a serious contribution to conservation and animal rehab. Whilst we stayed, the educational tours around Tenikwa where very interesting and we visited the animal hospital where a monkey, several cormorant sea birds where being treated with immense care.
The owners where charming in every way, taking time to show us the history of Tenikwa, how they brought up the lions from baby cubs, Zwelakhe the leopard and we where in awe of their personal commitment to wild life rehab.
Really recommended for those with a genuine interest in South African nature conservation and a good night's rest!

Great atmosphere, good breakfast, friendly staff
A little unlucky there hasn't been a baby chair for breakfast and dinner

Excellent breakfast and we enjoyed the friendly staff who made sure to provide us with our food preferences.
Glass windows in the toilet area is see through and it will be nice if it is not.
A bin in the common area will be good.

it was very comfy. I loved the patio set up to relax especially under the rain.
also on the way in you get to see animals due to the sanctuary.
I was expecting beef for the braai meal. also breakfast was good enough for the day

The overall serenity and peacefulness was amazing. We enjoyed being close to the Lions.
There is no doors to the bathroom in the bungalow.
Dinner and breakfast was overpriced.

We loved being with wild cats at such a close proximity and hearing the sound of lion roar. We got to see a leopard at night and lions mating. Enjoyed a nice communal bon fire at night.
We are sorry we could only stay 1 night.

Where to start? Let’s try with the beginning. We arrived at the rehabilitation center and were welcomed in a very friendly manner. Everything we needed and whatever more we wanted to know was informed by our new friend. A couple of hours before arrival we were called to double check about our dietary restrictions (some of our group eat vegan and gluten-free) and we were pleasantly surprised by the food that was prepared for us. We had planned to eat at the center on the first day only, but we ended up loving our dinner there all nights of our stay. The staff at the restaurant are just as lovely as the first friend we made. We did a tour around the center and were impressed with the knowledge of our guide. We were lucky enough to be able to be there when the animals were being fed. What a lovely experience! We’re very happy our stay has helped rehabilitate animals back into the wild. We would love to come back some day. 10/10!

1. location of the property and the environment is excellent.
2. The staff were courteous.
3. The rooms were clean except that bedding wasn’t changed until our fifth night.
Meals - there is need for a chef especially during peak season. The guides and other general staff members were used as chefs/cooks and the results were disappointing. The price charged for the meals were not justifiable given the food preparation and overall service. Christmas lunch was a disaster.
Breakfast was served from 0800hrs to 0900hrs which forced the family to wake up early during the holidays. I would suggest that this be reconsidered to accommodate guests and the fact that they are on holiday. We were told this was meant to allow staff serving breakfast to attend to other duties within the establishment.
Bedding and towels: these were only changed on our fifth night when we complained.
For a country with electricity shortage and regular power load shedding; one would expect an establishment like Tenikwa to have power backup. Regular lack of power/electricity was an inconvenience and frustrating.
Lions cabins are a good concept; however having the toilet and the kitchen intertwined with no door between is not hygienic and doesn’t offer privacy when using the toilet when you have two guests staying in the cabin. I would suggest that a door be installed by the toilet or move the kitchen to the deck to make an outdoor enclosed kitchenette. This will create space in the cabin which looks and feels crowded.
One of the owners was rude and condescending. Throughout my interactions with him, I experienced a lot of unconscious bias that bordered racism. We even got into an argument with him because I felt he was undermining us and did not want us to voice our displeasure and flatly said to me when I get to Rome I have do what the Romans do and that South Africa is NOT Botswana.

We didn't partake in the breakfast as we have our own shakes in the mornings.
The description of the room didn't calirfy that we would be sharing a house. The rooms have absolutely no sound proofing. Can hear the people in the room on the loo, their conversations .... everything. That really was the only thing - if we'd known we were sharing we may have asked a few questions prior to confirming the booking.
(Just a note that the shower leaks a fair amount)
