A recepção e a gentileza da Senhora Isolina sempre disposta e de bom humor para nos atender. Ficamos muito contentes com a presteza que ela nos serviu
Nao havia Wi Fi no nosso quarto, algo fácil de ajustar colocando um receptor

La Casa Sol is great for a 1 night stay in the Otavalo area. It's right by the entrance to Peguche Waterfall.
The property is colorful and peaceful (although there was a rooster crowing every two hours overnight). There were beautiful trees and flowers and the sounds of the water fountains was relaxing. I also saw a gorgeous blue and purple hummingbird. My room was a bit chilly, but I was fine with all of the blankets. Some other reviews complained about the extra cost to light the fires in the rooms, but this addition makes sense to me. There aren't many people on staff here. Extra fees were also disclosed to me when I booked, however I did ask. Please also note the property charges tax to foreigners.
At check in I was asked if I would like to have dinner that night and to select my items then. The cook arrives at 6pm and needs time to prepare. I had the locro de papa and it was delicious! Breakfast was simple: toast, scrambled eggs, tea, juice, and fruit in yogurt. I would have preferred to have the fruit separate from the yogurt and not all mixed in. Ask ahead of time what's served for breakfast if you have preferences, otherwise you'll receive everything the way they normally prepare it.
Please take heed to all of the reviews commenting on the steep incline to get to the property. These are not an exaggeration. My guide/driver had a mini van. He struggled to make it up when he dropped me off, but couldn't make it the next morning when picking me up. He had to park at the bottom and we walked down.
There were a lot of stairs for me to get up to my room. Ask before booking how many stairs there are to get to certain rooms if you have issues climbing stairs.
The water takes a while to heat up, but it does get hot. The room was dusty in some places and the bedside lamp would randomly shut off. The lamp did seem to be on a timer, which I had no problem with, but the random shutting off didn't seem related and happened at weird intervals.
The strength of the wifi depends on where your room is located. It's strongest in the lobby/dining area, which was really lovely. There are couches and the fireplace is lit at nighttime. Your cell service may go in and out as well.

Great location just outside of Otavalo. 30 minute walk or $2 taxi to Plaza de Ponchos. The staff was wonderful, breakfast was great, and the dogs are very friendly and loving. This is also a very bike-friendly property which is awesome!

Amazing little castle near the wonderful waterfall of Peguche. Both the enterior and interior reflect the unique style of the owner Marcos, who was extremely friendly and helpful, and also knowledgeable about the local attractions (and as an extra, transported us to Quito Airport, which is quite far away). Highly recommended if you want to avoid the crowd and have a piece of Ecuadorian Paradise instead. (ps: there are real colibri birds in the garden, and words can not describe, how beautiful creatures they are).

The property is gorgeous, the staff is fantastic, and the amenities are top notch. I loved the breakfast, the art everywhere, and I just felt right at home.
It was a bit difficult to find the location on the first day. Google Maps knew the correct location, but the nearby roads were misleading on Google Maps.

Marcos was an excellent host. He spent time with us explaining the indigenous methods he used in the construction of this intriguing hotel. It has so many interesting features and its art decor is worthy of a gallery. Marcos even played his Native American flute for us. Isolinda was kind and very attentive, and breakfast & dinner were both delicious.
It was a challenge getting up the steep drive after it had rained. Best to choose a taxi driver who knows how to negotiate it or drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle in rainy weather.

I loved this place. Even before walking into my amazing room, my experience with the happy and courteous staff was exceptional. And the room with a courtyard view felt very intimate, almost as though I wasn't in a hotel at all.
The only downside was that my room didn't have a good internet signal. There are two systems throughout the property and the Internet for rooms near the restaurant and lobby was strong and reliable. Mine was at the edge of the secondary system and from the desk the signal would come and go.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The choice of colors, traditional paintings, books and fabrics, and the beautiful woodwork make this one of my favorite places. The views are fantastic and the area is so relaxing.
The staff is super welcoming, from the manager, who is a super friendly, kind and knowledgeable man, to the cook and the housekeeping staff, with whom we had some sweet conversations and made us feel right at home. My mother in law had an upset stomach and they were super kind accommodating food for her and giving her an oregano tea which was a real game changer.
The breakfast was delicious and the space in the restaurant is so peaceful.
The hotel is just a delightful walk away from the cascada de Peguche, so if you are into hiking, nature, and learning about indigenous traditions, this is the place for you.
You do need a 4WD (or AWD or 4X4) to be able to go up to the parking because it is super steep. Don't try if you don't have one. Luckily there is plenty of parking space right under, but you will need to walk uphill in the altitude. They do tell you in the booking, but it is easy to miss in the confirmation email

Perfect for those interested in walking down to the market through the countryside and staying above the city. Unique property decorated with love and Ecuadorian culture. Woman at the front desk, serving breakfast, making fires in the room, etc. was SO lovely. She made the visit very special for us. And so did the house dog. Both adorable.

The location, property and staff were highlights of our stay. Walked into town for the market, close ware fall hike and lovely breakfast. We also loved the house puppy dog.

Excellent!
It was cold. It needed a few railings along the steepest steps.

This was a beautiful and unique family-owned hotel on a quiet hill several kilometers away from the busy city center. The owners were kind and attentive and the breakfast was wonderful (and the menu that focuses on local specialties that is available the rest of the day from the kitchen is great as well). One of the owners is also a local guide who can take you on hiking/biking trips to the most beautiful local natural attractions. I hope to be able to return here for another visit in the future.

It was so peaceful and beautiful! The staff was absolutely lovely and kind - the view was spectacular and extra special touches was hot water and having a fire place in the room and a delicious breakfast
It was a bit expensive in comparison with other places in the area

This establishment was run beautifully.
I did not have a car but a taxi in and out of town was easy to hire and only 3 US dollars. It is also nice to walk to town or in the surrounding nature. Such a lovely time I plan to come back with my family.
Just know to bring cash with you as it is a cash only stay. But if you forget there are cash machines in town easily accessible.

Markus, the owner and man who wears all hats, could not be more kind, welcoming, knowledgable and genial.
Our communication was flawless.
Isolina - a staff member - was delightful and charming. She made our stay all the more memorable.
Intiyaya is located in the perfect place to experience Otavalo and the surrounding area. The Inn itself is beautiful with breath-giving views. We hope to return again someday.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location (probably wouldn’t work if you don’t have your own transport). The lady who looked after us was so amazing and welcoming. The breakfast was great too!

This was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of nearby Otavalo. The ambience in the hotel is absolutely delightful, with bubbling water features, wind chimes, unique architecture, and vibrant color. The included breakfast was fabulous, and delicious meals can be ordered in the evening at a very reasonable price.
You will need your own car to come and go, or expect to use a taxi service. if you do have your own car, prepare for a very steep driveway. That said, we were able to drive up and down in our Chevy Spark rental car :-)

Amazing views, proximity to the waterfall, delicious breakfasts and dinners, friendly service
Internet was poor in the rooms, but that's what you expect from a rural place.

The breakfast was very good
Isolinda was very kind as well as the dog that always welcomed and followed us to the room. The hotel has a nice architecture.
Very poor internet and TV.
The windows in the terrace didn't have protection for the birds and a conebill crashed on it.
Difficult access; the hill was too steep.

Isolina was a great host, she was very kind and nice helping us with everything that we need. The room was clean and the breakfast was ok. We really liked the decoration of the place.
The TV on our room didnt work properly.

This hotel exceeded my expectations! It was so authentic with great architecture and atmosphere. Marcus (the owner) and Isolina were super-friendly. The room was so clean, my wife and I loved the beds, patio, fireplace, and views. The breakfast/dinner area is so authentic too, you feel it's like a museum. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. Also, Cascada de Peguche (waterfall) is only 10 mins away. Thank you Marcus and Isolina for the great experience! I highly recommend this place if you are heading to Otavalo.
Nothing in particular, maybe slightly faster internet but I guess it's common for this area. In fact, we did not need the internet and just enjoyed the hotel vibe.

Has to be one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed in! Incredible and friendly service from Marcus, the proprietor, and Isolina, who took care of us with her wonderful food and drinks. This was our first taste of traditional Ecuadoran hospitality and it set the positive expectations that we had for the rest of our trip. If you are driving, either get a car with 4 wheel drive, or plan to walk up the steep driveway (good practice for walking in the Andean Hills 😊).

My wife and I spent 4 nights here during our Otavalo visit and we loved it. It was a little ways away from the noise and traffic of town and right next to the Peguche waterfall. The building and rooms were beautifully decorated in the local style. The restaurant had delicious food both for breakfast and for dinner. Most of all, Marcos and Isolina were absolutely wonderful. They are what truly made our time here magical. If we ever get back to Otavalo, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

The best thing about the hotel, apart from the stunning views, is the helpfulness and welcome of the staff, they were wonderful. As the hotel was mainly empty during my stay I had the place to myself. The bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure good. It is a charming place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
There was a feeling that the hotel had, like many during the pandemic, been closed down for a while. The windows could have been cleaner and the garden areas looked a little overrun. As others have mentioned, the access is up a steep stone road, not for the fainthearted.

Nature view, beautiful architecture, great stuff
No cabinets to put clothes in or any shelves in the bath to keep cosmetics

An authentic oasis above the bustling town of Otavalo. The property and rooms have impressive character, with stretching views to the forest and distant mountains. Beds are very comfortable and the whole property has a relaxing atmosphere. They also have a good cozy dining room that serves good traditional food in the evening. Location is perfect to explore the surrounding area - short taxi to Laguna Cuicocha, Cotacachi and walkable distance to Otavalo Town and Peguche waterfall.
What made our stay were the staff and manager - they are exceptionally friendly and make you feel at home.
Steep cobblestone driveway could be a problem for some cars. Not an issue for us, since we came by taxi.
