Great building but lacks care.

The location, the atmosphere and fact that it has been a monastery add to its faded glamour.

It needs a lot of work to be done. In some of the rooms nothing works properly, wrong lighting, side lamps, furniture disposition , electrical work and cables are visible and much more.

We hope to return to this lovely place again for a visit.

Posada Convento do Carmo is a hidden gem! Everything about the property just oozes with charm. The grounds are so beautiful with lovely gardens and pathways, the breakfast area is outside in the midst of the garden. The rooms are huge with high ceilings and there is a nice pool. The town of Cachoeira is also very charming.

The wifi only works in the lobby area.

Potential is there

The building is full of charm and history. Very good location in the centre and very good value for money.

It needs some investment and some good maintenance. The place has huge potential but quite run down. The staff, while polite, is not particularly helpful.

Nice but scratchy

The quiet atmosphere of this old convent, the efficient and friendly staff, the new and improved breakfast menu after a few recommendations were made. If they don't have it, just ask and it will show up.

Not much the hotel can do about that but, due to the old building features, those tiny creepy crawlers showed up after a couple weeks and decided to settle in my bed. So small you can't see them but they leave dozens of scratchy bites after each raid. Changed room. It took them 3 days to find me again. Rats. I do recommend coming armed with some insect repellent (available at the nearest pharmacy).
