About this house rental

Trevilley is a light and airy family house enjoying spectacular panoramic sea views over Mount's Bay and St Michael's Mount. Situated in the picturesque village of Mousehole, the house is a two minute stroll from the harbour with its two sandy beaches, shallow waters and fishing and sailing boats.

Trevilley, which sleeps 6 people (or 8 from May to October in the summer house), is ideal as a romantic getaway, for walkers (the Cornish South West Coast path goes straight past the front door), surfers, those who just want to wind down (it's impossible not to relax here) and it's perfect for families - the house is fully equipped will all the bits needed for young children (travel cot, toddler pillows, duvets and bedding (infant sleeping bags are not provided), 2 travel high chairs, kids’ cutlery and crockery, stick blender, large washer/dryer etc). Even on a dull day, the house is filled with light due to its extraordinary east facing position, combined with large windows that make the most of the views.

In the winter months, it's the perfect place to put on your walking boots and discover Cornish land and seascapes (the walk from the house along the coast to Lamorna is stunning), soothe those aching limbs in the Jacuzzi bath and then get cosy with a glass of something next to the roaring open fire. The view remains beautiful whatever the weather and you can feel yourself unwind just watching the sea roll in.

Christmas and New Year is a particularly special time of year. The wonderful annual switching on of the Mousehole lights really gets you into the festive spirit with mulled wine, a local brass band playing Christmas carols alongside the Mousehole male voice choir. Tom Bawcock night on 23 December is also special - the Ship Inn serves up the legendary starry-gazy pie to all visitors and children release lanterns into the harbour.

From May to October a charming summer house, sleeping an extra 2 people, is also available at £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house at the time of booking).

Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at Trevilley. There is an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay for this. We kindly ask that dogs remain downstairs - they are not permitted on the beds.

The details...
A large entrance porch provides ample space to store beach bags, wellies and coats. This leads to a spacious well equipped kitchen crafted by a local artisan from reclaimed wood. It leads into a utility room with a large washer/dryer, clothes horse and iron.

From here another, door leads into the wet room (an ideal place to have a shower after a day on the beach or to hang your wetsuit) and a downstairs toilet.

The kitchen also leads directly into the dining room, a light filled space with beautiful local art work and stunning sea views. It comfortably seats eight in colourful chairs set around an old sea captain's wooden table. If you are lucky enough to be seated at the head of the table, you will have direct views onto St Clement’s Island.

In front of the dining room and the adjacent sitting room lies a spectacular and spacious sea viewing room with extraordinary panoramic views of the Lizard, St. Michael's Mount, the village, the harbour and St.Clement's Island. This is the ideal place to relax with a coffee, a good book or simply be mesmerised by the ever changing colours of the sea and sky.

A south facing door leads onto a covered decking area with a big glass table and chairs, a perfect place to have breakfast on a sunny morning and perhaps spot some seals, basking-sharks or dolphins.

Through another set of double doors from the conservatory you enter the cosy sitting room with its big open fire place, comfy leather sofa and chairs and its quirky furniture made from our decommissioned wooden fishing boat.

An open staircase leads from here to the first floor. The sea-facing master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with two basins and a whirlpool bath and a toilet. The comfortable kingsize double bed promises a restful night with its crisp linen and luxurious bedding. There are two bedside tables with drawers and a small wardrobe.

The other sea-facing room has shaker style twin beds, a large basin, one bedside table with drawers and a chest of drawers. From these rooms the view of the sunrise over the Lizard and the sound of the sea breaking over St. Clements Island remind you on waking that you are in beautiful Cornwall.

The third bedroom houses adult-size bunk beds a bedside table with drawers and storage under the bunks. A travel cot is available to use along with sheets (infant pillows/duvets/sleeping bags are not provided). All bedrooms have adequate space for a travel cot. The master bedroom can accommodate two travel cots (if, like us, you are lucky enough to have twins!).

Between the twin and bunk room there is another bathroom with a bath and stand up shower and toilet.

The Summer House
Also enjoying splendid views, the summer house is ideal for older children or maybe grandparents who like to enjoy a little independence.

It consists of a large living space, sofa, table and chairs, a kitchenette made out of reclaimed wood from fishing vessels, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. A separate bedroom contains a shaker double bed and small wardrobe with an en suite shower room, toilet and basin. The summer house is an additional £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house on booking).

Garden
Trevilley is surrounded by a large garden consisting of several sheltered sitting areas, all enjoying sublime views. There are many colourful shrubs and bushes with something in bloom throughout the year. Please also help yourself to the fresh herb garden and use the compost bin for vegetable food waste.

There is a built-in granite BBQ, a shed where beach items can be stored and for the literary inclined lines of poetry carved into the slate paving stones.

Parking
Mousehole is built around its beautiful harbour and has narrow windy streets. There is no off street parking at the house. Free parking is possible on Raginnis Hill but it does get busy during peak season and it may not always be possible to find a spot during the school holidays. Alternatively, there is Mousehole harbour parking on the south and the north quays for £5 per day or at the Old Coastguard hotel for £11 per day (pay via Just Park parking app).

This property is absolutely lovely, my family and I had a weeks break here and were sad to leave. The house is incredible and the views amazing. We regularly saw seals and even dolphins on our last day. The house is well equipped and within easy walking distance to local amenities. We already look forward to staying again.

We did have another wonderful week in Mousehole. Even my 2 grown up boys, 18 and 21, came with us, because we all just love the place. Mousehole is a lovely village, but especially Trevilley is a very welcoming place with a warm and cosy feeling as soon as you enter the house. I could sit all day outside, watching the tides and St. Clement island, listening to the seagulls and the seals, it’s so relaxing! I still hear the the waves rolling on the beach…. We‘re looking very much forward to our stay in February, as we both love stormy weather at the seaside, maybe because we‘re from the middle of Bavaria with the sea far away. Thank you for having us again and for sharing Trevilley with us!

We were 6 adults and one young child - everyone thought it was a great place for a holiday. Mousehole is one off the most picturesque villages on Cornwall and the house, we think, probably has some of the best views of any property in the village. It's particularly nice being a few minutes walk from the harbour beaches. The house was particularly well stocked with useful items for the kitchen and the beds were very comfortable. We've rented a house in Cornwall in August for the family for several years and this was one of the best. The only slight downside, and it's more about Mousehole than the house, but parking can be difficult to find near the house (outside or in the harbour car parks) - but don't let that put you off staying.

We had a perfect stay in this lovely house. The views are simply spectacular. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and the beds are comfortable. Mousehole is an amazing spot to be. We enjoyed our walks into the harbor, on the southwest coastal path and some short drives to nearby beaches. Only slight negative is the sometimes challenging car parking in peak seasons.
