About this house rental
Welcome to Dream Homes of Oregon!
Stay in style on the Central Oregon Coast. Enjoy fresh ocean breezes, miles of uncrowded, leash-free sandy beaches, and a slower pace at our secluded retreats on the Coast.
The Lodge at Cannery Estate is nestled in an old-growth forest grove on Alsea Bay that the Alsea People named "Peace" and "Paradise" because of its mild climate and bountiful sustenance from land and sea.
This former copper artist's workshop is now a 1,500 sf open-concept home with a rustic | contemporary | farmhouse style. It has a beautiful King bedroom, a Queen sleeping loft and a Double Serta Sleeper sofa bed to comfortably accommodate six guests (maximum four adults) for a 30-day stay.
The Lodge is located on the grounds of a 5-acre estate on Alsea Bay. This site was a seasonal Alsea fishing village for thousands of years, and in the 1850's became the location of the first Waldport settlement. There was a cannery, post office, general store and ferry landing. The entire settlement burned down in 1916, and in 1926 the original Cannery owner's daughter built a lovely Craftsman manor home that stands here today.
The pilings from the cannery can be seen on our beaches, and further down the beach is a small waterfall, fern grotto and the ruins of more of the settlement that housed the cannery workers.
In addition to the stylish new interior, our guests have access to a private beaches at low tide, 4-person spa, firepit, gazebo, creek, pond & She Shed and our watercraft: Kayaks, Hydrobikes, and a 5-Person Paddleboat.
This incredible location provides endless opportunities to enjoy your time on the coast. You can crab or clam from our property, fish, hike down the beach to explore the ruins, and hunt for agates and beach glass on our private beaches, not to mention kayak, paddleboat or use our Hydrobikes to explore the bay and rivers.
There is incredible wildlife at the property. Curious harbor seals and river otters will pop their heads out of the water to say hello. Herons, loons and countless other sea birds patrol the sandbars at low tide. There is a nesting pair of Bald Eagles on our property with a clutch of one to four eaglets each year, and we have seen pods of orcas. In the backyard, there are bunnies, bluejays and chipmunks.
We live in the main home (The Cannery) on the property part of the year, with our friendly Rottweilers and our indoor cats. Each home has a separate outdoor area, including its own spa and patio.
We ask our guests bringing their dogs to keep them on a leash when outside. We will do the same. Although we do our utmost to provide our guests privacy and do not encourage interaction with our dogs, if any members of your party are nervous around, or allergic to, large dogs (or cats), we are not a good fit.

The Lodge was the perfect getaway for us while celebrating our anniversary in Oregon. The views are amazing. The OR coast has many treasures to see and explore. The sea lions poking their heads up in the Bay were a favorite sight.

We had a great time at the Cannery Lodge. The view was breath taking. So many animals to see. This was close to town and close to Newport and wonderful beaches. The hosts were great and very prompt and responsive to any questions we had. The home is on a well and unfortunately the water pressure was really low but the hosts were able to put a work order in to get this fixed. The home had everything we could need to make a comfortable stay. Our family and dogs loved our time there!

The location has a wonderful view that is interesting and peaceful. The wildlife was especially exciting for our family to watch in the mornings and evenings during our stay.
Even though the location is near many of the places we visited during our stay there was no real noise and it felt very private.

Beautiful location. Comfy cozy and clean. Lots of amenities and cute critters on the property. We enjoyed having coffee on our porch with the view, watching the birds and wildlife, and even doing some crabbing! Made my birthday celebrate extra special. Thanks to the hosts for all of the work they do!

My family and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed the cozy space that was offered. Laurie was responsive and very kind. We had a blast while in Waldport and checked out quite a few things in the surrounding towns. We enjoyed our experience and our cozy space. We will definitely be back. ☺️

Beautiful property
The property is absolutely beautiful and well manicured. We enjoyed our stay and were completely relaxed. The owners, Lauri and Roy, were in town during our stay but we rarely saw them. They gave us complete access to the common areas of the backyard and hot tub area. The location of the property is perfect - short drive into town or to one of the many beaches within 10 minutes. This property js a hidden gem!

Loved loved loved this place.
My only issue is that I booked for only one night. Wish we could have stayed for a week or more. The fees for cleaning, etc. were more than the per night cost.

Sad to be moving on
The property was perfect for us - single mom with three boys ages 14,12 and 9. My only regret is that we were out exploring the area, and so didn’t have as much time to explore the property and surroundings. My youngest loved combing the bay at low tide, I loved watching the harbor seals and wildlife with my morning coffee and evening wine. Owners were very responsive, even when on their own vacation, and property manager, Byron was helpful and informative. Truly one of the best VRBOs I’ve ever stayed at.

Annual girls trip with my daughters
Decided to come to Oregon to visit my daughter (a student at U of Oregon) for our yearly girls trip. We were so fortunate to have found this place !! From the moment you drive down the driveway… you know you are staying in a special place. The guest house is just lovely and the views , especially at sunrise , are amazing. We loved every minute of it!!

Beautiful, secluded area
The location could not be more idyllic, right on the Alsea River. Kayaking right out the front door, surrounded by seal pups was a major bonus. We stayed in the smaller unit nextdoor to the main house. It was very well appointed and great for a small family of 4. The only downside, was the bathroom was very small and wasn't connected to the master bedroom, which was a mild inconvenience. I would love to comeback without the kids next time for a romantic getaway.

Outdoors at it’s Best
Our family enjoyed the outdoor amenities at this studio.
Kayak, Paddleboat, Hydro-Bikes, Grill, Outdoor Fireplace, and Hot Tub were excellent. We also enjoyed watching the Eagles, Osprey, and River Otters.

Incredible Location!
This really was a quiet refuge from a typical tourist vacation. Had three place to ourselves and enjoyed the manpowered watercraft while we were there. The maintenance man was very friendly and made us feel welcomed when he came to service the rest of the owner's house.

Tranquility and Luxury
Our stay was like living on a peaceful island in a property that has it all and would be a great architectural digest feature!
If you’ve read the I fo you know the property has lots to offer from hot tub to kayaks, but what we weren’t expecting was how much nature and wildlife we would enjoy just looking out the window of from the front yard! The inlet’s landscape, away from the main road, through the forest, changes twice daily with the tides. At low tide, sand bars emerge with harbor seals, American eagles that nest on property, a blue heron that feed right off fro t yard shore. one evening I counted 24 eagles hanging out together, 3 bald ones. Can sit anywhere in or outside with binoculars or just your eyes and enjoy!
The space inside is beautifully decorated and appointed - no plain white dishes but rich reds and floral place settings and dishes. Very wee supplies kitchen - we enjoyed blender for smoothies; every utensil and piece of cookware you may want.
Comfortable beds. Privacy limited except for those staying in. Master bedroom.
Bathroom small but all else made up for it. Would love to return and have time to enjoy all there is to enjoy outdoor kitchen, kayaks, campfire ring, more time in hot tub and just more time soaking up more peacefulness the natural spot provides.
Close to Cape Perpetua and all the natural. Rock formations there and DePoe Bay where we enjoyed seeing. Several gray whales on a whale tour!
Definitely the first place we will look at when we return to the Oregon Coast!

FAMILY Spring Break April 2021
Lauri, Roy and Byron were very helpful, communicative and generous during our stay. We loved the hot tub, Hydro bikes, crab fishing adventure (Byron is the master), outdoor fires, cooking, huge projection theater screen and more. The dogs are super sweet and gentle. Would love to go back and rent the entire property with friends! The view was amazing, truely right on the bay overlooking Waldport!

Overall a great experience!
Upon arrival I was a little confused on the setup and parked in front of the hosts garage which is part of the house we stayed in. By the listing description it was worded in a way that led me to believe we had more of a private experience. The whole house is rentable at times so you always share the property with either the owners or other random guests.
The part of the house we stayed in was just as pictured! It had beautiful views, lots of bedding and a fully stocked kitchen for all your needs!
We really enjoyed the beach and the kids loved using the kayaks, hydro bikes and paddle boat😊 the hot tub was great even in the rain.
During our stay we had major water issues that caused lots of stress. At times there was no water. We reached out to the hosts and it was obvious they were on top of it and I'm sure the problem has been resolved 😊
We enjoyed meeting the hosts and they were a pleasure to talk to. The dogs on site were very friendly and welcoming 😊
We hope to stay again in the future!
