About this house rental
The Ocean Lounge - Meredith Lodging
With its wind-screened deck, front-seat-to-the ocean patio with whimsical beach sculpture, The Ocean Lounge’s siren call is to enjoy the panoramic oceanfront views from its cliff-top location. Time in the sun and ocean breezes will scour away your weekday concerns and wheeling seabirds and whale sightings will return you to a more relaxed, contented state of mind. Indoors, the roar of the ocean, and lots of Pacific light will continue that ambiance; the great room’s soaring windows, ocean views, and the placement of its contemporary furnishings keep the ocean in mind.
You and your guests can gather on the comfy sofas and chairs for a time around the gas fire and flat-screen TV, or maybe you’d rather converse at the circular bar pointed out to the ocean view. When dinner comes out of the luxurious kitchen with its tile flooring, granite countertops, breakfast bar, stainless appliances, and gas range, you’ll be happy to sit around the table with family and friends for an ocean-view feast. The end of the day brings more happy news: a romantic king master suite has its own fireplace, access to the deck, and a walk-in shower. A main-level queen bedroom is spacious, cheerful, and bright. The kids will flip for the upstairs loft tucked under the eaves, with their own couch and TV, an adorable “playhouse” full bath, and foosball table.
You’re near beach access, minutes from the marina, historic Bayfront and Oregon Coast Aquarium of Newport, and poised to explore the South-Central Coast, including Waldport, Yachats, and Florence. We know—it will be hard to tear yourself away from your Ocean Lounge, but it will be there to embrace you in style after a day exploring the coast!

Absolutely beautiful vacation home. We have not been on a getaway in years and were blessed beyond with beautiful views and memories. The beach was beautifully mystical and most often we had what seemed like miles, and miles of beach to ourselves. This home is in a fantastic location close to everything you will want to see. Very clean, and stocked well. We are already planning another visit. We are very blessed and thankful for the hospitality.

It's stunning - with an even more stunning view.
The only reason I can't give it 5 stars all the way around is because of the cleanliness of the ceiling fans - ESPECIALLY the fan in the great/living room. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned in at least a couple of years. Everything else was spotless - but the state of the ceiling fans was really bad.

This is a lovely and comfortable house. The view is beautiful.
It took us a while to relax there, however, given the MANY warnings about the sensitive septic system. We did not take simultaneous showers and everything was fine.
The shades, despite doing exactly as the required video instructed, are still pretty finicky. They did eventually open, but I can't tell you what my daughter did right to make that happen after I tried twenty times myself doing the same thing to no avail.
The master bedroom bed does not really have a mattress, rather 4 thinner pads stacked upon each other held together by a fitted sheet. But it was nonetheless comfortable once you got in from the edge.
As of our visit, there were two coffee makers, one regular with filters (provided), and one Keurig. I would have appreciated knowing that before arrival.
The nearby access to the beach is very convenient but might be a little challenging to those with mobility issues.
There are also other nice beaches and views in the area. We recommend Cape Perpetua.

From first view, you know you chose the right spot. House was amply equipped and made for making memories. The walk to the beach is simple and a must do while you are visiting this part of the Oregon coast. Newport is a quaint city with everything you need to feel settled in comfortable. Whale watching in Depoe Bay will definitely not disappoint!

Arrived and was overwhelmed by the beautiful view. The house is beautiful. That is where it ends. After using the bathroom we came into the living room to a gushing flood of water coming from the main bathroom. Grabbed towels, figured out how to turn off the water line, then spent the next 45 minutes cleaning toilet water off the floors, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, into the dining area. We used every towel in the house but cleaned it up. Then we called the manager and texted them. They apologized and said someone would be out to fix this. We waited several hours but needed dinner and restrooms… so we went out. When we returned no one had come. I texted again and was informed they were still try to find someone. We turned the water in the upstairs bathroom and no flood… the master toilet was working as well. No one arrived that evening. The next morning I needed to wash my toilet water feet so I bravely showered. No one else did however because we were waiting for maintenance. Sent a text.. called they said someone would come today. We were out all afternoon and returned to the main bath still turned off. I then received a call from the maintenance company telling me we had overused the water and set off an alarm… while we were not there… now we were no longer able to shower, do dishes, laundry.. etc. I shared my frustration about what was happening again. Still had a bathtub full of toilet water towels and an unusable bathroom. Unacceptable!

Very pleased with the condition of the house and it's view of the ocean. Open floor plan was great for spending time with family. Just had one complaint. The master bathroom does not get enough heat. My wife was always cold when she took a shower. I had to buy a small electric space heater to keep her happy

This house is beautiful. The view is fabulous! Furniture and beds were very comfortable. Would stay again!

Our stay at this home was absolutely wonderful. The view from the entire west-facing side of the house is amazing. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood just far enough away from town to be quiet, but close enough for a quick trip to pick up any necessities. The home is well cared for with nice decor. It is obvious that the owner/management care about the property and the quality of stay for their guests. I would highly recommend this property.

Overall a nice place with a few important shortcomings: 1) property located on a cliff; beach access is a quarter to half mile away, 2) Furniture in living room very uncomfortable--everything sags.

We stayed here a week and returned renewed! This is the biggest ocean view we’ve ever had and it was really amazing, we mostly just sat on the patio and enjoyed the view! We’ll hope and wish that we can be back someday.

We truly enjoyed the stay. Quiet neighborhood, close to Newport. House was fairly well stocked. A few watch outs: master bath tub was not available so not a full bath. We booked with a tub for our older arthritic mom and she was without a tub. Other tub is very small. No K-cup so no coffee first morning since we didn’t bring grounds. Septic issues, but we managed fine. Guest room pillows were well used. Be aware that while a large house with three bathrooms, there is a person limit due to the septic. You have to move all the patio furniture to and from the garage which wasn’t convenient so we weren’t able to use them. Beach access is about 1 mile walk, but there is access in both directions. We would definitely stay there again if the master tub was avail.

The house is in a quiet neighborhood. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s very spacious and the views are beautiful. It would have been nice to have access to the tub in the master, but it wasn’t a big deal. Be aware, you may not have cell service at the house. I was able to get on the wifi and make calls that way, so it was no problem. You won’t regret booking this place.

Beautiful property and beautiful location overlooking the ocean. The restrictions where a little stressful to manage. We were very alert to the septic system and on alert to make sure we were not going to overload it. The restrictions on number of people also limited the ability to gather at the property. If you are looking for a quiet get away and are not a heavy water user, this is a great place to stay.

Lovely, well equipped home, accurately described in the listing. Great views. A few dos and don'ts to pay attention to which were no problem. I would recommend..

Loved our stay!
Spent 5 great nights for one of our sisters 70th birthday. The view from this home is beautiful, and the weather was beautiful during our stay. Therefore, the home got very warm inside especially in the evening. It would have been nice if this home had A/C, other than that, the home is great!

Family vacation
We rented this house for a family vacation with grandparents, parents and kids. Loft was great for kids. Kitchen was large and well stocked with cooking equipment. View was spectacular. Master bedroom is romantic and lovely. There were several things in the home that were not usable like master jacuzzi tub and wine refrigerator. Home has good wifi but none of us could make calls on our phones while at the house.

Super nice and clean house in a private neighborhood that backs to the ocean. Great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Thanksgiving was ruined... no good memories made here
The house is located on the Oregon coast and has a view of the ocean. Now for the bad. Picture a holiday for my family of 5 where we would enjoy that VRBO commercial moment of memories being made around a holiday.
The house is on a septic system, but apparently the owner is so worried about you breaking the system there are rules around how many folks can be in the house at any one time. As in, there can never ever be more than 6 (Six) people on the property at any one time. It doesn’t matter if the extra folks are not using the septic system.
Further, (no mention of this in the listing), you can't have more than 2 cars on the property at any time. We arrived, we put our car in the garage and my daughter left hers in the driveway. When my Parents arrived for dinner they parked in the driveway as well. As we were about to eat, we had a knock. It was a guy from the managing agency. He told us that they had a call from the owner saying a neighbor told them we were having a party and there were 3 cars on the property (How did the neighbor know we had a car in the garage?) The gentleman apologized. He asked us to call the office and let them know we weren’t having a party (he could see we were watching tv). We called the office, where we were told about the car situation and then also informed the owner only wants 6 and no more folks on the property at any one time. We were 7! This was breaking the rules and we could be tossed out for this (btw the listing shows an occupancy of 6- I assumed this meant 6 sleeping. So, we had to ask our children to leave and wait until my parents had left before they could come back to enjoy dinner after the fact. What a joyous time sitting around the table making our speeches about what we were thankful for without 2 children.
To round out the last few issues we had with the place, first off all you have a tub in the master bath, but for some reason you removed the taps and faucet and left a note stating, “Sorry for the inconvenience” You could have mentioned this in your listing. Finally, and perhaps the most dangerous of all, the back yard has no fence and no clear sign stating a deadly fall lies ahead to the beach is about 80 feet.
I hope VRBO pull you from their listings. I hope all of you looking at this place chooses to take heed. Be sure to wave to the neighbors when you arrive as they will certainly be watching.

Wonderful beach housae
Let me get this out there first-the recliner is still broken but works ok with a foot stool and the master bed is lumpy and the beautiful master bath has no faucets so it cannot be used. Aside from that the house and property was AMAZING, we absolutely loved it. The house was spotless and well stocked. We loved the furnishings and wall decorations. The location is perfect and we had amazing sunsets with nothing to block our view. We were somewhat concerned about the septic issues but we followed directions on use and had no problems whatsoever even with all six of us. We definitely would recommend this house again.,

Ocean view
We selected this home for the true and unimpeded ocean view and because the online depiction was of an elegant home, rather than beach funky. Overall, it met those expectations.

A couple of disappointments but overall a nice beach rental.Bed in master bedroom is gorgeous to look at but horrendous to sleep on. We slept in the queen downstairs after the first sleepless night. The big comfy looking recliner won't lock to recline as it is broken. We hooked up our Firestick to the tv as the channel lineup is truly sad. Was unable to use the beautiful soaking tub in the master bath. No knobs on it. Knowing this, I would still stay here again. The view is amazing. Newport is a cute community and South Beach Seafood is just up the street.

Great place for relaxing! Peaceful, quiet, and beautifully decorated!
This house is well supplied with things to do. Lots of books, movies, and games for people of all ages. Very easy to deal with. We ended up adding an additional night, because we could not get enough of it, and the weather was beautiful the entire time.

The property was great. Great view of the ocean from all of the big windows. I do wish the beach access was a little closer but we have the entire beach to ourselves.

Beautiful ocean front home close to Newport!
Overall, this house is exactly as described. It has a beautiful view of the ocean but you need to take a walk through the neighborhood to get down to it. There is a large drop off at the edge of their back yard. The kitchen was fully stocked except foil, plastic wrap or any plastic bags. The first floor is the perfect space for a group to enjoy. We had 4 adults, 2 teenagers and a baby. The upstairs is perfect for kids. The only negatives are: 1) Although the master bedroom is a beautiful space, the mattress definitely needs to be replaced as it was very uncomfortable. Very spongy feeling. 2) There are only a handful of TV channels available. Would have been nice to be able to enjoy watching something other than the news at night. There were some older DVDs available. 3) We replaced the batteries in the fireplace remote but it was very difficult to turn on / off. It did supply a great amount of heat though. There is a hot tub which is not working. Would have been really nice to be able to enjoy that. Not a problem for us, but the fireplace is see-though so the people in the living room area can see into the master bedroom. The house was very well decorated but yet you didn't feel like you were in someone's house that they just left for the weekend. The location is great, as it's a short drive to Newport. Overall would recommend but it would be nice if some of those issues were addressed.

Fabulous home and view!
Very impressive home with all the special details! This home did not feel like a rental, but rather like your home away from home. We had a few glitches and the property manager was very quick to come repair fire pit and replace DVD player. The kitchen is gourmet and has all you need! The loft is perfect for kids or teens. Quiet neighbors and incredible view of the ocean from every room! Will stay again, for sure!
