Food was good-not excellent. The views were great. Lots of monkeys.
Nothing more to add at this time
There is no mention that there are 95 steps up to reach the resort. Booking.com/resort say there are ac units-which is NOT TRUE. Only a select few have AC! The shared rooms are in bad shape as is the facility that has the sink and old refrigerator. This property is not as it is presented! I showed the owner my booking.com confirmations where it said there was AC. He replied that it is simply a representation of some rooms. The first night 0-4 had AC-second night 2-4 had AC and we had to pay extra. Very disappointed in how the propery was listed and how it truly is.

Any time you have to make a special effort to get to a place, it usually ends up being a positive and unforgettable experience. Located on an island off the coast of Boca Chica, we needed a water taxi to get us to the promised land. But it was a short, five-minute trip that took us to a place that was a world away. We had more spider monkeys and howler monkeys for company than we had guests. Seafood was fresh, fresh, fresh, and in spite of us being in a place where transporting fresh produce to it is a bit of a challenge, each meal had a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
There are signs of deferred maintenance, but we understand how difficult it has to be to get the most basic materials all the way over to this ecolodge. Even though seafood was fresh, more than one dish we ordered was overcooked, which was a shame. One thing that we found irritating is that everything on the food menu is a la carte. Many items, including sides, are an extra charge. I think it would be better to charge a higher, all-inclusive price than to 'nickel-and-dime' guests.

Nice secluded place, close to the beach, you feel surrounded by nature. The beds were confortable, there was no hot water but the shower is good anyway. The owner is friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and the food was good.
WiFi is unreliable - slow and often doesn't work. Small gap between the room door and the floor that allowed bugs to enter. Windows don't shut completely, they are covered by a net but it has holes in them. Loud music always playing at the bar.

Mellow place to overnight and have dinner and cocktails. We were only passing through.

I looooved it here. It was a short boat taxi ride from Boca Chica, and you can walk right up the stairs from the dock. This is important bc not all hotels in the area are this accessible - some are like a 45 min walk from the dock! The restaurant was fabulous and affordable - best sopa de mariscos I’ve ever had. Luis and Eric were fantastic and made us feel so welcome. We rented kayaks and had a lovely little jaunt around the islands. Highly recommend this for the perfect mix of remote/convenient, tropical/comfortable, and tranquil/lively.
Nada :)

Nice basic hotel in a beautiful location.
It IMPERATIVE to warn clients with mobility problems there are 84 steps to climb up the cliff side.

Location was fantastic, great views. Great happy hour.
seeing the monkeys up close was a bonus.
The upper level for sitting in the dining/gathering area was very nice for views and catching a nice breeze.
The roof was noisy all night long due to falling objects. They made a loud bang
Bathrooms could have been better stocked with toilet paper and paper towels.

Top location, good food and clean rooms.
Next to the lodge where a family Hawlers Monkeys and kolibris. Walk to nice beach is a bit trough jungle, so thats cool and took 20 minutes. You can rent Kayaks.
It is back to basic, if you dont forget that, you will be fine.
AC would be nice, but the fan did help.

It's a great spot to watch the sun on the water between the islands.
Our room was spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable.
Definitely need the AC in the summer time.
Our room, number 9, had good AC and TV.
Tours of the other Islands can be set up by the proprietor.
We are used to non-smoking environment. That was not true of the restaurant, but there was no evidence of smoking in our room. There is internet, but quite slow. My phone had a good signal most of the time.
Water for the shower was hot most of the time.
Beaches are a distance away by hiking.

clean room, nice island, friendly staff, great bar
sometimes very very loud music at the bar, no long hiking trails on island because of private property :-(

I felt like on a honeymoon! This was a beautiful lodge, that offers a real jungle experience (protected from the mosquitoes, though). We slept in a very clean room, with a view on the ocean and the beach in walking distance. Great for looking at the stars at night. The island is full of wildlife, so expect to hear monkeys, rare birds and other creatures. Really an adventure! We also booked an island tour through them, which was great. The price was really good for what you get. Remember that the crossing from the mainland costs 3 $. Thanks to the hosts!

Seeing the monkeys was wonderful, as was the view from the restaurant area. Luis was friendly and helpful.
My husband has some physical limitations which make sustained walking difficult. There was no mention on the booking site regarding the fact that accessing the resort requires ascending 83 stairs up a steep hill, suitcases in tow. In addition, accessing the beach requires approximately a half mile hike over rough terrain, downhill and back. Had we known this we would have chosen a different resort that could accommodate my husband's needs. When we tried to discuss this with the owner, he said we should have known from the pictures what we were in for.

The island is excellent. You have to be in moderately ok shape to enjoy it and get around. I saw wild monkeys every time I left the hotel. The hosts were very kind and entertaining.
The facility is a bit older, and the only option for eating is in their restaurant. The food and pricing is adequate, it just took a little getting used to for me.

the location is superior
the food wasn’t good at all . it is a place for young people . has a stairs with 100 steps very inclined. difficult to carry bags to the place is no help of any kind.

excellent location, excellent freshly cooked food, and a cheeky funky cocktail to boot, casual friendly environment owned by a lovely hardworking and accommodating couple, would love to stay there again.
not a problem for us, but worth noting that there are plenty of steps up to the property from the waterfront jetty.

Beautiful location, we even saw monkeys while drinking in the bar. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms with shared bathroom are basic, but very clean. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were very well maintained.

Quality of food was very good, even a simple meal was well cooked and well presented. We actually enjoyed the simplicity of the rooms, which were very clean, and beds were comfortable. The central meeting/eating area has music on during the day (chilled and reggae, very cool), but it was not audible in the rooms even though we were close to the restaurant, and I was very happy with that, so an early night is no problem. Try the hosts Cocktail of the Day... very fun!
Not even a problem, but just a heads up to other travellers that there are many steps up from the waterfront, which is good to know in advance.

Friendly host, amazing views of the islands from the restaurant (with a dolphin swimming there sometimes in the morning!)
Old and basic equipment but functional, yet a bit expensive because it is a fancy area of Panamá...

Friendly atmosphere, feeling like you are at a hotel a friend owns (Frank, the owner) rather than just another person at a chain hotel.
Some of our party said their showers could have been better, but this is Panamá, so no one was bothered.

Beautiful setting, high above the water with constant breezes and a 300 degree view from the restaurant and the common area. A wonderful unique experience.
This is on Booking.com and not the hotel. While booking online, I kept selecting one person at every step.but at the time of completion Booking.com defaulted? at the last second to two people causing me to face a cancelation fee (which was waived by the hotel). There was a significant increase in price for two people. Hotel Boca Brava kindly compensated me for the error by Booking.com

The whole layout of the buildings was unique. You have a feeling that you’re off grid but you’re not. Very restful.

What a great place to stay! Excellent food, drinks and service. We stayed in the clean, spacious & comfortable triple room with terrace, featuring amazing views and howler monkey visitors! The island itself is amazing. Great hikes to beautiful swimming holes. It's an easy 4-min water taxi ride back to Boca Chica and Boca Brava can just call you one when you're ready to go. Incredible island tours are super accessible from this location. Woo!
