Lovely warm welcome. Clean. Staff were lovely. Food was really good…,burgers were amazing Good location for visiting the zoo, 20mins on foot
Too hot to sleep, not the owners fault. Guess we should have asked for a fan

The rooms were excellent, very comfortable, clean and lovely decoration. The breakfast was really good, we also had food there in the evening which was also of a really high standard. We received a very warm welcome and would throughly recommend.

Friendly staff. Comfortable room and bed. Hot shower. Tea etc available. Good range of drinks at the bar. Cosy lounge. Terrific breakfast, as much and varied as you could wish for.
Evening meals could be available later and more varied, but this is not a restaurant.

The room was great, loads of nice extra little touches that you don't get with hotel chains.
Couldn't get online with the internet and it said online evenings had hot food available but there wasn't, so with all my plans being cancelled due to the weather, I decided to drive home rather than stay over.

Everything was good staff very friendly and helpful food was amazing and hot drinks for a hotel was not to badly price and loads of little xtras in the room good little card with all information on
Mobile data does not work well, no signal, but would say if there was not a problem with the Internet connection waiting to be repaired, this would not have been noticed

Already been back for our second stay here because we love it so much, and we know we’ll go back again! Great value for money, lovely rooms, helpful and friendly staff and superb breakfast! Location ideal for exploring Coniston, Grizedale, Windermere, and local town Ulverston has places to eat and things to do too.
Only suggestion would be to have a blackout blind in room 2 as the sun came streaming in early each morning (south facing window). Didn’t affect us too much though.

Friendly welcome by the hosts. Lovely stay from start to finish! Warmly welcomed to our rooms on arrival. The rooms were exceptionally clean. Breakfast was great! Cater well for guests with children! The hosts couldn’t do enough for you! Thanks you!

Lovely welcome and relaxing place. Our evening meal and breakfast was superbly presented and the quality of food was excellent. Our room exceeded our expectations. It was gorgeous and cosy and we slept really well. Definitely stay again. There is a lovely beach a short drive down the road which was great for that fresh sea air.
There was nothing I didn't like, my stay was awesome.

What a cosy, welcoming little pub! the rooms were exceptional for the value for money, the food was honestly fabulous (burgers and breakfasts!!) and the staff we encountered were all wonderful!

Amazing service and warm welcome from all staff. The evening burger meals were delicious and our hungry teenagers thoroughly enjoyed them after a day of walking and sightseeing. Lovely clean and spacious family room with good drinks facilities and a sunny back porch to sit and chill. This morning's breakfast options were beautifully presented and served.
We would highly recommend the Black Dog Inn as a great place for family stop offs while visiting the Lakes.

The staff and locals were so friendly, staff couldn’t do enough for us. Tom’s food was absolutely amazing! Probably up there with one of the best burgers and Caprese salads we’ve ever had. The breakfast was just as good!! Room was lovely, modern yet also like a little oldie worldie cottage with the wooden beams, so cosy and nice. comfy bed. Nice little beer garden next to a little stream where you can sit in the sun with your drinks (if it’s sunny). Lovely and peaceful location.
That we only booked for one night and not two :(

The Black Dog was completely refurbished just before the pandemic. The three bedrooms have some historic features and are very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and courteous - and so were the others guests and patrons!

From start to finish, our stay at The Black Dog was outstanding. The room was perfect, the pub was warm and welcoming and the staff were friendly and attentive. Above all, the food was exceptional. We ate from the burger menu on Saturday evening and the burgers were some of the best we've ever eaten, anywhere. The breakfast the next morning was beautifully cooked, tasty and the ingredients were great quality. The portions were generous and the extras like yogurts and pastries were a nice touch. We live in Manchester but we're already thinking about our next visit!
The location is quite remote but that was actually a bonus as it was so peaceful.

what a hidden gem the Black Dog is so peaceful and quiet beautiful room excellent facilities extremely comfortable bed. The hosts just could not do more for us during our stay, very friendly locals provided chat and entertainment (Stan!!!!)during our two day stay. Although a little off the beaten track but it is ideally situated for exploring the lakes region.
cannot praise the property enough from the food (which was amazing Tom) to the service and provision of the plentiful drinks at the bar, all at very reasonable prices.
Overall my wife and I had one of the best B&B experiences we have ever had.
nothing to fault
