The cottage was just as described. Very cute and clean. A bed in a studio-style room with a fold-out bed for our son. The large bed was comfortable, but the fold out bed was not very comfortable. It was just a frame with very minimal padding, but ok for 1 night. He could have stayed in the mattresses in the loft, but it was rather hot up there. The lower level was comfortable with the fan and windows open. The best part was the animals! They ran to greet us upon arrival and chatted with us the entire time. There are earplugs available if the rooster crows would bother you, but we didn't notice them over the fan. I would definitely stay here again!

We left a heatwave and came here for a couple days. It was very comfortable and everything we needed in the kitchen was available. The farmhouse vibe sharing space with the llamas and chickens was extra special.

This place is just the cutest! We stayed for only one night as we made our way back home after a long Oregon stay. This was the most relaxing place we could have chosen. The hosts were super easy to communicate with and left us a bunch of water and snacks. My kids were thrilled. Here is the kicker: the animals. Oh my… the cuuuuuuest alpacas and even a nursing baby! We were able to feed them and the chickens/ducks.
The house accommodations felt SO clean and well taken care of by our host. You can tell they love having people spend time here! This place is perfect for a small family with little kids. It’s not huge and is very cozy but for the right family, it’s absolutely perfect!
We will totally be back!

This was exactly what we were looking for in a getaway. It’s off the “beaten path” so-to-speak, and it was very cozy and welcoming. Waking up to the alpacas and chickens was a real treat, and the fresh eggs were amazing! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a homey, relaxing getaway.

Great, quiet getaway. Fun to talk to the alpacas and watch the chickens and ducks. Short drive to the redwoods. Owner was very responsive via text when we needed something.

My son and I really enjoyed our stay at that ranch cottage. My son especially enjoyed the alpacas and that may have been his favorite part of our whole vacation! Pam was very helpful and kind and the cottage was clean with every thing we needed, even extras! We will be back next time we come through!

I rented this for a couple nights to reward myself for finishing a tough course that lasted 4 months. Anyway, it was peaceful, quiet and the really well- equipped little kitchenette was a real bonus. The heater worked well which was great,, it got really cold for sure overnight. Pam is a responsive, very nice host. Be prepared to recycle what you can and NOT toss any food scraps out etc. Pam provides nice little containers for compost, which goes to her chickens, and recyclables.
I'll keep this sweet location in mind for another visit some day. Fun country setting with the alpacas, geese, chickens right near the cottage.

Four day getaway weekend
This was the perfect place for us to stay while attending a dog agility trial in Ferndale. It was close by and we had a small kitchen to prepare lunches to take with us and dinner the evenings we did not dine out. The alpacas were a hoot! And a friend dropped by for a glass of wine and impressed us with her knowledge of chicken breeds. The bed was super comfy after a long day of competition running and the hosts provided a nice bottle of wine to celebrate the weekend’s events. Nice neighbors too!

Welcome feeling
Thought and care was put into special items for guests. So.e microwave popcorn, firewood for the fire pit, and food for the alpacas. Wonderful to feed and watch the alpacas and the chickens, ducks and geese. The loft would be better for you get children. However my 22 yr old son slept up there, just had to watch his head. Overall we felt a welcome feeling and enjoyed our stay. I have already referred a couple of people.

Quant small farm feel.
We could only stay one night but we had a delightful time. Feeding the animals and sitting around the fire pit in this rural context was relaxing. The room itself was clean and very adequate for us. We would stay here again. Very close to all the large Redwood attractions in the area.

Alpacas and coziness!
We had a lovely short stay at Pam's ranch cottage. Everything was neat and clean and the amenities and extra touches were so thoughtful! Oddly, we didn't see any chickens (they may have been hiding in the hen house) although we certainly heard them (in a good way). That being said, we had a wonderful time feeding the adorable alpacas! The cottage was cozy, and a bit tight for 3 adults (ideally 2 adults and a bunch of kids up in the loft is probably most ideal), but we certainly made do and had a lovely time! Would definitely return. Thank you Pam!

Country Charm
We enjoyed our getaway in Fortuna. The Ranch Cottage was cozy, the alpacas, chickens, ducks and geese almost at our doorstep were entertaining. The neighborhood was blissfully quiet.

Down-home adorable cottage
My two teens and I wanted variety for our VRBOs and this one was fun and unique. They enjoyed the loft and loved feeding the critters. The roosters were early alarm clocks. There were so many nice little touches that we appreciated.

Should not be listed as large enough for 4 adults....VERY small !! One nice bed but sleeping area in crawl space upstairs is perfect for 2 children but in no way large enough for adults.

Great get away
Beautiful cottage! Everything was exactly as described. Animals were fun for our kids. We hung out at the cottage in the morning and evening, but during the day we were out exploring the towns to the north. The loft was great for our kids and they loved having there own little area. We would definitely stay here again if we vacationed in the area again.

Cozy little farmhouse!
You’ll love it! Exactly as represented online. The Alpaca are soft and friendly. The geese are mean, but it’s not their fault, their geese. Note: the heaters and bed make for a cozy night, but farm animals make noises at night; bring your earplugs or noise app :)

Great stay on the way home
Unique property located right off 101. We stayed here for 2 nights on our way home from San Diego and it was a great stop. The owner communicates clearly and frequently and clearly puts a great deal of care into the presentation of her property. Snacks, eggs, wine etc all waiting for you on arrival. The alpacas, ducks and chickens were a huge hit with our kids as well! Definitely recommend!

Family Friendly/ Animal Friendly Farm Cottage
If you love animals this is the place for you! You are one with the alpacas, chickens, ducks, and geese. My two young kids 4 & 6, absolutely loved being steps away from the animals. They loved to feed them too. When we arrived there was a complimentary bottle of wine, farm fresh eggs, and individually packaged snacks! Plus bags of food for the chickens and alpacas. The alpacas are very friendly. They have a 3 week old baby and it was such an amazing experience. The cottage is so cute and upgraded. The kitchen is fully stocked for your needs. The queen size bed is very comfortable. The loft is accessible only by ladder. The ladder is very sturdy and anchored really well. The loft was perfect for my kids, but I did struggle to move around up there as an adult. It is a small space, but functional. If you do have small children under the age of 4 I would not recommend the loft. However there is a ottoman twin bed option down on the ground floor. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

I stayed here with a friend as I was traveling from Seattle to San Diego for a move. This was a perfect place for a one night stopover. We arrived late and was very easy to get access to the cottage. The geese gave us a warm welcome as we arrived and as we woke up the next morning. The Alpaca were curious and super cool. I had my two dogs with me who dealt well with the other animals in our temporary front yard.We ended up using an air mattress for a second bed rather than the loft. The loft area is best for kids or a small adult, not much room for a tall dude to get in and lay down. Great property and perfect for what I needed on this trip.

Adorable Cottage
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Ranch Cottage. It was quaint, but it had everything we needed! My daughter loved sleeping in the loft and she couldn't get enough of Mo & Curley (the resident alpacas). The owner even provided a bag of alpaca treats so we could feed and interact with the animals. Pam really goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome. I highly recommend.

We had to cancel bc of extreme illness, but Pam was an amazing host even BEFORE we (& despite us not being able to) stayed there!!
