This apartment is very well done and very nice. It was located right beside the house that we also rented. We just loved it.

The property was very clean and extremely comfortable. The mattresses were great. I highly recommend it.

We loved our stay at The Rivers Edge. We stayed here many years ago, and again recently. New owners were very attentive, the place was very clean, beds were very comfortable, and we loved the location. Damascus is a very walkable town, especially to the multiple bike shops, a few restaurants, and just a wonderful atmosphere. We will continue to use this rental when its available!

We had a wonderful time in a wonderful town. The location is amazing and so central to bike shops and downtown that you can walk everywhere. One of the bedrooms has road noise at night so if you are sensitive about that you may need earplugs. The beds were so soft and comfy.

Wonderful downtown Damascus cottage
This is a wonderful two bedroom cottage in a great central location in downtown Damascus It is walking distance from all the restaurants and the bike rental shops. This apartment over the garage is separate from the main house with no noise between the two. It is right on the main road through town so you will have some car noise. The place is spotless and well maintained. It has a fully furnished kitchen, though we didn’t do much cooking. It has a grill and fire pit for a lovely evening roasting marshmallows. Our host was incredibly responsive and ensured we had everything we needed. This is exactly what a VRBO is supposed to be.

Downtown by the river
We really enjoyed our stay here and would come back. Everything worked fine, no issues. Comfortable, well maintained, and and located in town so it was convenient to businesses and eateries. It backs right up to the river and there is a fire pit in the yard where we enjoyed roasting marshmallows. Great host - Recommended!

Weekend getaway
We certainly enjoyed our stay, the apartment was very nice but we do feel it was a bit over priced for what it was and where it was.

Damascus get-away
Great property, great location. Owner is very nice; allowed us to park our bikes in the downstairs garage which was super helpful. Clean, well appointed, with lots of nice extras (coffee, breakfast bars, etc). Cooked steaks on the gas grill and worked great. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful Property
We had a great time over a long weekend in Damascus. This property had a wonderful location to rent bikes for the Creeper Trail and was just a short drive to Abington. We used this as our home base while we did some hiking and biking over a few days. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay. The owner Susan was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Fabulous for a long weekend!
A couple of girlfriends and I chose this as a base from hiking Grayson Highlands/Mt Rogers and biking the Creeper trail. It was perfect for our needs and Susan was super sweet, even asking if we needed any specific dishes/utensils to be available to make Thanksgiving dinner. Kitchen was super spacious and well outfitted. The location is awesome- riverside but also right in the middle of town- easy to get to everything, yet still super quiet. Also, highly recommend the Abingdon Winery- see the brochure on the table:)

Love this place!
Clean, everything was in great shape, and it was equipped with more extras than any place I've stayed. We lacked nothing that we could ever need.

Clean Apartment and great location!
Very clean apartment with easy self check-in. Great location on the main street in town within walking distance to all the shops and bike rental shops if riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. Can also walk to a few eating establishments nearby. Relaxing to sit on the covered porch and listen to the water, or people watch, as people walk or ride bikes along the sidewalk. Good communication with the owner and easy instructions for check out.

an ideal house for a family reunion
Everyone fell instantly in love with this beautiful, comfortable and roomy house. There were numerous comfortable places to gather, the spacious front porch, sunroom, back deck (with a peaceful view of the creek), parlor, dining room, breakfast room and upstairs den. Everyone had their own lovely bedroom. Even the bathrooms were exceptional! We loved being on Laurel Street and walked to Blue Blaze to be shuttled up the mountain for a bike ride down the Creeper Trail. We also took a short hike on the Appalachian Trail. We stopped by Abingdon and the Barter Theater, but had to scrap our plans to see a play a couple of months ago when they changed their calendar. It was great to be in a lovely home, centrally located in Damascus and share the beauty of southwest Virginia with our family members from out of state.

Great weekend getaway with friends
This house had plenty of room for our large group. Located with walking distance of bicycle shuttle service was very convenient. The kids loved playing in the river.

Quite nice
Nice big older house. More than adequate for our group of 14 (10 adults, 4 kids, 9-17, one disabled). No problem for 2 nights, but placement of the bathrooms might have been more awkward for longer period.

Fantastic accommodation with plenty of space
Fantastic accommodation with plenty of space for our four families. Every little detail was taken care of from coffee, to first aid, and even a rainy day activity kit for kids. The owner was very responsive to our questions and made settling in worry free. We would definitely return and highly recommend this rental to others.

28th Annual GETAWAY Gives 5-Stars
Damascus, VA was a new destination for our annual GETAWAY.
(This year's acronym...Girlfriends Enjoying Trails All While Acting Youthful!) We're so happy that we found "A River's Edge Lodging." Sixteen women strong from the WNC mountains definitely give it a 5 Star rating.
It is a beautiful, immaculate home with furnishings to match, situated right on the river with an easy walk to shopping, hiking, swimming pool, park, Farmer's Market and shuttle services for the Virginia Creeper Trail. (The Bike Station guys took great care of our every need and seemed to enjoy doing so.)
Our large group made full use of the multiple, comfortable gathering spaces, both inside and out, of this 1930's bungalow style home. The bright, fully equipped kitchen, with abundant counter space and prep areas, easily accommodated many chefs working together at every meal. The second full-size fridge in the laundry room (with washer and dryer) was a godsend.
Plenty of comfy beds, lush linens and towels, along with spacious bathrooms ensured all were well rested and up and out on time to explore the area.
The Old Mill Inn and Restaurant, 2 blocks away, with a large deck overlooking the river provided a respite from the heat with an extensive beer and wine list and a good lunch menu.
The owner, Rocky was easy/pleasant to work with....always willing to answer all questions and always in a timely manner. He even provided a well-stocked box of games, puzzles, etc. for our entertainment, as initially the weather forecast did not look promising for our stay. Thankfully, that was not the case.
Would recommend this house for family reunions and vacations (accommodates both children and elderly), wedding parties, girlfriend gatherings.
We all want to return to Damascus and "A River's Edge Lodging."

Lovely property even when it rains!
We had plenty of space for everyone to enjoy visiting and throwing corn hole even when it rained!
Loved sitting on the deck and hearing the creek behind us.

Wonderful Weekend
We had a wonderful weekend with friends and family for a Saturday ride down the Virginia Creeper bike trail. We rented both the house and garage apartments for our large group and all accommodations were charming and clean with great amenities for our times together off the trail. The bike outfitter and shops were all in comfortable walking distance which we thoroughly appreciated based on previous trips and experiences. Being so close to the water was calming -- a nice getaway from our day-to-day lives in Charlotte. The owner is very conscientious and helpful. We were delighted with our stay.

We cannot imagine a more wonderful place to stay as a group in Damascus.
Fantastic location on main street in the center of town. Beautifully furnished and appointed throughout. Several outdoor venues including decks, covered porch and fire pit sitting area. Gourmet kitchen very thoroughly furnished; lovely dining room! 3 living rooms!

Excellent location, amenities, cleanliness, furnishings and quality.

Lovely house in a perfect location
We had all 3 sections of the main house and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house has many nice features and is large enough to lose yourself if you want some alone time or to have lots of people together for conversation, food or whatever.
We spent a lot of time in the back enjoying the creek view and after dark at the fire pit.
We didn't have enough people to need every bed, which was ok since some of the beds are in the same rooms or common areas and privacy would be more difficult for those. Great for families though!
Booking, staying and leaving were easy. Rocky was very communicative and responsive.
We've stayed at 3 different places in Damascus over the last several years. This was our first time here and if we have a similar crowd in the future, we'll definitely look to stay here again.
