This was our second time staying here. The house is beautiful and has tons of space. The owners are absolutely wonderful. They messaged to checkin on us and accommodated an early checkin that saved us from traffic. I recommend this place 100%.

I've always heard about Massanutten from other families that have children attending JMU. We visited this past weekend for our daughter's graduation. The owner was very helpful and reached out to me prior to my arrive and during our time in his home. We had plenty of space and the home was comfortable for our family of 8. It was a short ride to the JMU campus with plenty of activities and restaurants nearby. It was a fun stay & hope to be back in the future!

This was a great place for our extended family group to stay during a wedding weekend. Most listings in our budget had too many rooms with multiple beds to allow for privacy. As others have noted, it is not a brand new house but it was clean and had everything we needed. The hosts did an excellent job of replying to questions and sending the check in information.

We traveled with 12 of our family members and had ample room for everyone! The home was clean and spacious for our family! All of our kids and grandchildren had a great time! We really enjoyed being close to the slopes and the great views! We look forward to returning in the future!

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend at the house. House was exactly as described in reviews and by owner. House is older, but very clean. Beds comfy, but towels could use an upgrade. Kitchen had bare minimum, but again, I was prepared for this and we didn’t need much! (no wine glasses, but we made it work!)
Close to everything- even walked to the restaurant through the woods! Host was responsive and everything in working order! A great trip and excellent for the price tag!

The house was clean, easily accessible, and had a great view of the surrounding mountains while being close to the Massanutten resort and amenities. The hosts thoughtfully left recommendations and tips for the area, and were kind and responsive in the time leading up to our stay, during the stay, and as we checked out.

We had a wonderful stay in this house at the Massanutten resort. It's a great layout with beautiful surroundings. We visited Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. There are tasty restaurants and a full grocery store within 10-15 minute drive. On property, we enjoyed the pool, go-carts, and bumper cars. We missed the arboretum, golf, and the spa, but that just gives a reason to return.
One recommendation - Linens are included but bring kitchen, bath and pool towels. The largest bath towel in the house was the size I usually use for my hair. No big deal but bring these items if you like to have them.
A great house, responsive owners, and family-fun location!

The price is what grabbed my attention! Within minutes to check-in, you receive a text with door code. If there questions, property manager respond, very helpful. The views of the slopes, the big open space living room and the ability to see deers walk around freely. This my be an older home, but it was prefect for us!! We will be back, thank you for the hospitality 5 stars, I highly recommend.

Our stay was great! The home was clean and tidy. Our family was pleased with the home. The kids were excited and enjoyed every moment of our time. We had a small problem with a tub and it was fixed immediately. David was expedient with responding and we were able to resume our vacation without any delays. I would definitely use this home again maybe during the summer to take advantage of the grill on the back deck.

Renting this property was easy. I do think the price for the type of property was a bit too high.

The house needs a lot of updates but very roomy and a very good location.
8.0 / 10.0
The house is nice. But we had significant issues with TV. Initially couldn't get ESPN. We spent 30 minutes including a call to owner. Then that night couldn't get ABC to watch college football game. Very frustrating. Rainy weekend so we wanted to watch sports and it was frustrating. Advice to renters, give yourself plenty of time to figure out TV and confirm with owners that they get the channels you want for your stay.

First, let me say that I am most thankful that there are homeowners who allow their guests to bring their dogs. And whatever shortcomings there are with the place, I'm still most grateful for that. However, this home is in need of some TLC. A hole in the bedroom screen is stuffed with tissue. The master bedroom bed feels as though it's going to collapse at any moment -- literally requires using care when turning over (other beds in the home are reportedly comfy). There was not a single washcloth in the entire home, so we had to go into Harrisonburg and buy some. Towels had mascara or something on them, as did one pillowcase. Nothing at all in the way of toiletries and we also had to buy hand soap and bath soap (left those behind for next guest). No instructions on how to use the TV or fireplace. Many lightbulbs either burned out or missing from fixtures. Two lamps didn't work at all. The current pictures are not how the house currently looks. Kitchen cabinets have been painted (poorly), for example. Sadly, the home is located in a nice neighborhood and I'm guessing the neighbors also wish it were in better shape. It looks like a rental. I am a landlord as well and rent my home, and I'd never want a guest to say that it looks like a rental. Again, I know that homes that permit pets are often not 5-star, but having pets there shouldn't affect things not working or being provided. I'd stay again if I couldn't find another pet-friendly place. On the upside, the guest contact was very friendly and easy to reach, and I appreciate that. And the location was perfect for us.

House was the perfect layout with a great sunrise views and a perfect trail to get our downhill racers to the lift! Our friend’s dog Revy lives the big porch.

Fits bug family comfortably
This was a great place for our large family to hang out together but still have our own space. We enjoyed playing games out of the game closet and the local sights: shanendoah national park and Luray caverns. David was a great host, always available by phone and always pleasant and helpful.

Great Place for a Family Vacation
This is a great property for a family get-together. The open kitchen/dining room/living room area is perfect for hanging out, cooking, playing games, etc. It also has a very pretty mountain view. The house was very comfortable and cozy. The location was great for hiking in Shenandoah National Park, which was only 15-20 min away. We're discounting one star because the kitchen was missing a few basic things (sponges, hand towel for doing dishes for example) and we had to make a grocery store run. However, this wasn't a big deal and overall we really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended for other family groups looking for a weekend in the mountains!

Cozy home with a great deck
We arrived just as the cleaning service was completing their job. The home was very clean and fresh smelling. It was the perfect place to relax and visit with our JMU student for Easter weekend. The view of the sunrise from the deck was stunning and we enjoyed the morning & evening visits from about 10 deer.

Awesome space!
The house was a perfect space for a large group and was super close to the slopes. Communicating about check in and questions I had before our stay were answered in a very timely manner and the owners were so helpful! There was plenty of room outside to keep all our snowboards/skis and the beds in all the rooms were extremely comfortable. Perfect place to stay with a large group when visiting Massanutten!

Cute Property That Needs Updating
The outside is very cute although I wish we were given a heads up about the driveway being so steep. The inside is homey and cute, but definitely needs new/more comfortable furnishing as well as curtains that are easier to use to let light in. The property wasn’t clean upon arrival especially one of the bathrooms. It made me feel unclean about the beds and other things especially due to COVID. The TV in the living room didn’t work and the bathtub didn’t drain and the toilet hardly flushed. Overall, I wouldn’t return.

Spacious, clean, comfortable and very welcoming
It is obvious the house is loved and recently updated. We were greeted by a welcome sign with restaurant recommendations and the property owner was extremely responsive when we had to delay our arrival time. David gave us detailed instructions to include the best way to park. The home is in a great location, a very short distance to resort amenities. We hope to return again in the winter.

Spur of the moment success
We chose to take a last minute mid-week family getaway and found this cabin available. The owner was very responsive and the property clean and spacious. Loads of fun stuff to do and all close by. Great family memories.
