property is in bad shape; doors don't close, windows don't close, no hot water in shower and occasionally scalding hot; furnishings are dated and inadequate seating for dining
notwithstanding these aspects the house has a charm and would be spectacular once it is repaired

This is my first time renting a vacation home via VRBO, and if this property is reflective of the quality of product that is regularly listed, it will be my last. This house is unfinished in many places with obvious ongoing renovations, creating many safety and quality-of-stay issues. There was a general lack of cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the house and property. The layout is unique and can certainly work well with couples and/or families traveling together. This is where the positive ends.
Listed below are bullet points of issues we encountered. These are by far not all encompassing but we are limited to a certain number of characters for review purposes. I can elaborate and provide pictures to any interested parties.
• General uncleanliness indoors & outdoors – furnishing, rugs, windows
• Broken/damaged/non-working, outdoor furnishings, door handles, window cranks, patio screen doors, screens, outlets in multiple bed/bathrooms, bathroom/shower fixtures, lighting
• Ongoing renovations creating safety hazards and unfinished/uninhabitable situation
• Nauseating, continuous odor/visible signs of possible animal decomposing in ceiling of laundry area
• Rat feces, traps, and damage from rats present indoors & outdoors
• No toaster, paper towels, or Kleenex available
• No digital or written instructions on heating/cooling/exterior lighting
This property has comfortable bedding and amazing views but beyond that, should be deemed unrentable.

Loved the location and the house itself, but there were a lot of small details that detracted from the stay: doors and windows weren't sealed properly or didn't function well, blinds were dysfunctional, some outlets did not work, and the shower handle in the master bath was repaired poorly and fell off. The Wi-Fi wasn't working when we arrived but the owner was very responsive about fixing it. Overall, it's a great property that was perfectly fine to stay in. With a little TLC, it could be truly wonderful.

Internet wifi was not working

I've stayed at this property in the past. I love it because of its uniqueness! I overlooked some inconveniences last trip because of it's uniqueness. This time I was very disappointed. Non working appliances. Electrical outlets and lights non functioning. Safrty hazzards. Upon complaint, I was told it was undergoing a renovation. It would have been nice to know that before I booked! Will not be returning.

First off, we had a great time, it's a very cool but kind of strange home, good location, clean when we arrived so we are happy we went. However, given the price per night, I can't give 4 or 5 stars as there were so many things that should have been taken care of and were neglected - here is my list:
- There is a very small dining table that seats only 4 people, which just isn't enough for a place that sleeps 6
- The coffee maker was broken
- There is no toaster
- There is only 1 pot for the whole kitchen
- Many bedroom windows lack curtains
- Many bathroom windows lack curtains - not fun showering or sitting on the toilet totally exposed to neighbors
- There is so much great outdoor space, but very little outdoor seating
- Internet connection is very poor
- No shampoo/conditioner/soap in many showers
Also just so people are forewarned, to get from any bedroom to any other bedroom or the living area, you must go outside thru the courtyard, which is not a good setup if you have young children.
It appears other people have made similar comments, and nothing has changed.

Stayed with wife, 5 year old and another like family, it was absolutely gorgeous house and property, comfortable, with all rooms very separate so one family was not waking the others. The back patio is a dream to look out on the valley.

The location and size of the house were nice and the isolated bedrooms was pretty unique. However, we did have some problems. The master side heater was not working as well as several outlets. I contacted the property manager twice and these were never addressed or fixed. Much of the house was in need of repair. There were torn screens, broken kitchen drawers, and the master closet floor covering was very torn up. The kitchen was not well stocked with cooking supplies such as bowls, etc. I liked the location but would not rent this house again

Very unique, custom home in the Rams Hill community of Borrego Springs. 3 separate bedrooms with a nice bathroom in each suite. We arrived after dark and the property is a little confusing in the dark. The security shack was closed and we had been given an incorrect code for the gate. But a quick call to the property manager was able to track the correct code down.

nice and clean
lots of the outlets don’t work, and would be useful if the lights had labels to know how to turn on certain lights… but overall nice place, very spread out

Great Location - beautiful views.
This is a unique house and is good for giving each couple/kids separate en suite accommodations which is nice. The house has a nice feel with a lot of custom touches. The one thing really lacking is outdoor seating. If you want to enjoy the golf course view and the sunshine from the backyard, bring your own beach chairs.

Run down neglected home
This was such a disappointment. We rented for a week, which was expensive! The home is neglected, no heat in master bedroom in freezing temperatures. I was recovering from an accident which required surgery, we are from Canada. Pictures deceive, beautiful fireplace, no armchair seating near it! We dragged in 2 weather damaged dirty arm chairs from outdoors and covered them with sheets. Concrete benches and dirty cushions around the perimeter of both sitting rooms, way uncomfortable. Flagstone floors had eons of dirt, kitchen cabinets old and falling apart, one pot with lid to use for cooking, a multitude of frying pans. It was I’ll equipped, nothing at all cozy about for recovery, I was stunned as we’ve rented nice homes in Borrego Springs in past. VRBO needs to do a better job we felt really burned…and cold!

Property annoyances outweigh good points
This property has a lot going for it: very clean, great location, quiet, comfortable beds, lovely courtyard and patio, nice kitchen/living space for gathering; working fireplace. The house looks really nice, but there were so many annoying things about it (at least to us) that none of our group of six adults would stay here again. Our list of irritating things about the property: all the electrical outlets didn't work (including the ones in the bathrooms); there were no clothes hangers and when we asked property management for some we were told that guests were not supplied with hangers; there were no chests of drawers in two of the bedrooms (with the lack of hangers this made it impossible to unpack); no toaster; in two of the bathrooms, the toilets had windows above them that faced the neighbors' house and neither window had coverings; not all the lights work; drawers fall out of the kitchen cabinets when you open them; there is no toilet paper holder in the master bath; thermostats don't work; no washcloths, dishcloths or dish towels or hot pads; there is no seating in the indoor courtyard and only two chairs on the outdoor patio; no fireplace tools; there are two parking spaces in the garage, but a full-size car/SUV will not fit in there and the HOA does not allow overnight parking in the driveway; windows don't open; master bedroom closet is unfinished; the BBQ ignitions are broken so it's dangerous to light them; in order to get cold water in the sink where the bunkbeds are you have to turn it on and off under the sink; and, the toilet in the other queen bedroom is leaking. Although very clean, the property does not seem to be well looked after.

An honeymoon & birthday getaway dream
We are so grateful that the owner (happened) to meet us at the property after hours. We skipped having to check in, in the dark! We were warmly received, and given a guided tour of the property. It's the best sleep I've gotten all pandemic and truthfully didn't realize how tired I was. (I'm a midwife) We made a few (private) helpful suggestions, but for the most part, an absolutely lovely stay!! We hope to return with our children and friends once Covid is OVER!! Thank you!!
