The property was beautiful! There were several disappointing things. First, the water pump kept shutting off and we kept having to go to the basement to turn it back on and finally it quit working. It being Thanksgiving, we finally got a plumber to fix a problem that had unbeknownst to us already existed.
Second, the living room sofas and chairs we uncomfortable and rump sprung, need to be replaced.
And thirdly, a thorough scrubbing was needed in the kitchen, some of the silverware and china were put up dirty. All of these things are easily remedied and we would definitely stay there again.

Multiple areas for gathering and engaging. Easy and beautiful walks in the neighborhood for all ages. Excellent communication with the property manager. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This home is a delightful place to idle away time and enjoy the quiet beauty of Lake Glenville. A fully stocked kitchen was appreciated as well as an abundance of games to entertain all ages. The broker was very helpful about any propblems and thankfully they were minimal and easily rectified. The internet fluctuates a lot, but we weren't in need of it. And loved not being sble to stream movies or shows to help keep all of us off devices!
Fyi, recycling is available at the house. Check Jackson County site for what they accept. There are clear garbage bags on garage required for the recycling.
The walk to the lake is doable but some people might not be up to it. A couple of friends preferred being driven, which is not for the feint of heart. Drive slow, low gear, all wheel drive and its not a problem.
We will be back!

Our family comes to NC every year for a retreat. We come from Texas and Florida and look forward to the mountains and cool temperatures. This luxury home met all our needs. The teens took over the downstairs and enjoyed all the amenities. They were in the sauna immediately. They enjoyed the dock and kayaks. We rented a boat on Lake Glenville and spent a day boating and tubing.
We cooked all our meals in the spacious kitchen and ate on the huge porch looking out over the lake . Coffee in the morning on the deck watching the fog rise is so peaceful.
Must mention that the temperature in Texas and Florida was 100 degrees, so we thoroughly enjoyed the 60 degree mornings.
Your home is spacious and beautiful. Met all our expectations.

We’ve stayed at this property before and continues to be a great place to enjoy the lake. Big fireplace in great room, many bedrooms spread out in the house for privacy,. Steep walk to dock, as noted & known to us. Used steam sauna often, as weather was cooler. Lots of small touches great: propane heaters on porch, gas fire pit on deck, whole house water filter. Would return again.

This was a great place to stay, and there was a lot to do on our one rainy day and any other day. Great amenities throughout. One of the air conditioners was out in a portion of the house, but the cool mountain air and rest of the house made it less noticeable. The stay was busy and relaxing at the same time.

Adult family members gathered from 5 states to celebrate birthday in this big beautiful house. Everything was as described. We especially loved the view from deck, grill and perfect deck dining table. The road to dock was a bit daunting, but younger folks went down and used kayaks. Only 4 of us were there entire time. Others came and went on different schedules. We rented boats at marina several times, and that was fun. We never turned on any tv, but there were several there. We did use firepit one night. This is a very comfortable and beautiful house, in an area with plenty to do.

Great house with amazing views
We spent the a week at this amazing property for the Thanksgiving holiday. The house was perfect for our needs.
The highlight of the house is the great room that has a huge fireplace and a soaring vaulted ceiling. It felt like we were in a lodge. The views from the great room of the lake and mountains are amazing, and it was great that we could enjoy those views without having to go out to the deck. (Having said that, the views from the decks on the mail and lower levels are amazing too). I loved that the great room had sconce lighting (like you see in theaters) so that you can light the room without harsh overhead lights. It set the perfect mood -- in addition to the fireplace. I also loved that the fireplace has a gas starter system which makes starting a fire so easy. There was plenty of wood stocked in the garage for our week stay.
We had four kids (11, 14 and two 16 year-olds) with us and they occupied the lower level of the house. The entire lower level was a separate apartment for the kids, with two bedrooms, a huge game room, and a living room -- with ample beds and bathrooms for them. The kids made use of the games, including the foosball and ping pong tables. There was a huge TV in living room of the lower level that the kids hooked their game system to. But there was video services provided as well. Another great thing about the lower level is that it is not a basement. Therefore, it did not have a musty, damp feeling that other houses have on their bottom levels. The lower level of the house was just like any other part of the house.
The beds in the house were VERY comfortable, as were the pillows and linens. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need to cook any meal. We did a lot of cooking there and made use of the bbq grill, oven, stove etc.
Because it was chilly outside, we didn't make use of the deck or the boating. We would like to come back another time during the summer to take advantage of those great amenities.
The only drawback, which is disclosed in the listing, is the water. We were only able to have one person at a time take a shower. It wasn't a problem for us because we planned around it, taking showers in the evening at different times. But I can see it being an issue for some people if it is necessary for multiple people trying to get ready all at one time in the morning. But that one issue would not dissuade me from renting this fabulous property again.

What a View!
This property is the perfect mountain cabin by the lake. The view is outstanding. In addition to the view the cabin itself is lovely inside and out. Highlights for us were the game room and the decks. That's not to take away from any of the rest of the cabin as it is all fantastic! We also enjoyed taking the kayaks around the point and visiting the waterfall that empties into the lake. You can even hear the waterfall from the driveway!

Great mountain lake home
Description of property and reviews online were spot on! Great views of the lake through the trees, very good house layout for privacy (multiple floors, rooms, private corners to find quiet nooks). Great room/living room big & airy - wood burning fires in fireplace worked well, and took the rainy or foggy chill off in the mornings. Sauna worked well, game room with ping pong & board games was a hit. Outdoor multi-level deck very functional - propane firepit was nice at night. Water pressure was as described - max 2 showers going at once. Walk down to water very steep, strenuous walk back up - again as described. (We brought along our souped-up golf cart to make the trek to/from lake easier). Shared water access dock was great - small sand beach there to wade in/swim, kayak, float. We rented pontoon boat from nearby marina & parked it at dock without problems. Overall - excellent vacation home if you need to sleep a bunch of people.

Three families fit comfortably in this house without feeling like we were on top of each other. In fact, each family had their own floor of the house (the was a game room downstairs was a hit for the older kids!). Lake access with a dock and kayaks was a lovely walk out the front door, and when we wanted to leave the house, Cashers, Sapphire and Highlands were a beautiful 15-20min drive away. We came primarily for the hiking, and the location of the house was ideal for that as well! We used the grill twice and the gas fireplace every night. It was a phenomenal visit and I'd recommend it to anyone 100x over!

We spent a week after Christmas at this beautiful home overlooking a stunning mountain lake. This home is perfect for a large crowd of varied ages. The lower level was perfect for the kids to play table tennis and Foote all. The kitchen had everything thing a foodie cook would want! An abundance of very nice cookware and dishes filled this kitchen while people gather around the island and keeping room with fireplace. All beds were comfy and having three with in suite baths made the home very appealing for our guests. The lower level beds looked to be oversized twins that shared a bath. The stunning great room was perfect to gather around the huge fireplace as we celebrated New Years! Gareth was needed a couple times with some issues that were quickly resolved and was a pleasure to work with during our stay!If you decide to visit Cashiers, you won’t be disappointed with this home and surrounding areas with hiking trails and interesting shops and restaurants.

Great Thanksgiving Getaway
Amazing property, very well equipped, spacious, comfortable and has $MM views over the lake and surrounding mountains. Despite a chilly week, the weather cooperated and we enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner on the upper patio, teenagers and adults alike enjoyed the games room / cinema, kitchen was adequately equipped and fireplaces were well used. Cellular(AT&T) service was nonexistent at the house and the WiFi was slow and a bit spotty but aside from a few homework assignments to be submitted our group didn’t need the connectivity and frankly a little helpful to fully disconnect for those trying to get some much needed down-time. Good hiking / waterfalls nearby, very complete grocery (Ingles) and ABC store in Cashiers so no need to haul your provisions. Good options for dining and cold brews in Cashiers and Highlands and we hope to back.

Beautiful
We had a wonderful time. The view was spectacular. We enjoyed rambling around this part of the country. We lost power( no fault of the rental) and the generator only worked for 20 minutes. But we hope to return next year.

Although the photos appear to show dated amenities, the property is very well-appointed. The kitchen is fully stocked with all items that will make the garden-variety foodie feel at home. The game room, fireplace, porches, sauna, and recreational equipment are enjoyable for guests of all ages. The house is truly a gem with dazzling views and space for many more than the number of bedrooms would dictate.

Wonderful mountain lake vacation
This is a large house that sits above Lake Glenville with beautiful views of the lake. Access to the lake is steep as described on the website but manageable. The house is very spacious with wonderful outside spaces with lake views. We had a wonderful week. Gareth was very prompt with communication. Some of the appliances could use an update, but everything worked fine. Kitchen is well supplied and we cooked all of our meals at the house.

Ridiculously well-appointed, stunning property!
If you are looking for a vacation house on Lake Glenville, then you already know what is great about the area. Specific properties, on the other hand, can be a bit of a crapshoot. We usually stay across the lake in the Buck Knob area but this year with all of the nuttiness in the world there was not much available. We took a chance on The Aerie and could not be happier - or more surprised - with the house.
First, it is absolutely huge. There are so many gathering spaces that the house felt empty no matter how many people were there but yet it still managed to feel cozy and comfortable. Every single amenity was available. I cannot think of a single thing that we wished for that was not already provided.
All of the bedrooms were more than sufficient. The bedrooms in the basement are not air-conditioned but with the addition of a couple of inexpensive oscillating fans the temperature was reasonably comfortable.
As can sometimes happen, I ended up having to work more than I would have liked but the inclusion of a dedicated office with a proper desk and decent Wi-Fi connectivity made working remotely a breeze.
The only caveat to the property is the perilous journey to the dock. There is just no way around it...that road is sketchy! Crazy steep. Walking is possible but carrying anything down or, God forbid, up is truly daunting. We drove down 90% of the time; however, when the road is wet from the rain, which happens often, the steepness and slickness of the road makes it almost impossible to drive up without 4WD. We had to leave one of the cars down at the dock overnight one day until the road dried out. Not a big deal but definitely a consideration.
Overall, the house is spectacular. The lake is beautiful. The dock is huge (can easily accommodate 6-8 boats not that you would ever need that many). Being down Norton Rd was convenient to Cashiers for supply or restaurant runs. We could not have asked for more (except maybe a cable car to the lake 😁).
Thanks to Ian and Gareth for a hugely enjoyable vacation. Cheers!
