You won't want to miss the beautiful and fascinating geothermal features such as boiling mud pots and fragrant (!) sulfur vents. Also in the area, Mount Shasta offers a snowboard and ski park plus hiking and other outdoor actives year-round. While in the area you also will want to check out Burney Falls, Subway Caves, McCloud Falls, Whiskeytown Lake, Lake Shasta, and the Sundial Bridge over the Sacramento River in the city of Redding - all are day-trip close. Right in Shingletown you can enjoy Lake McCumber, Grace Lake, and Nora Lake. The town also provides restaurants, a bar, grocery stores, and gas stations to serve your every need.
Pets: There is a $30 charge per trip for one or two well behaved dogs. You will be able to check that option when you book.

Be aware, pets are not allowed on the trails in Lassen National Park, though they are welcome at many other nearby locations. There is a reputable dog sitter service that will come to the cottage and dog sit for you if you want to take a trip to Lassen and leave your pup at the cottage. I'm not allowed to post their website here, so ask me, and I'll share it with you.
Sorry, no cats allowed at the cottage.

We especially enjoyed the quiet neighborhood. The porch has a wonderful view with lots of wildlife walking by. Beautiful bird song too. The room was perfect! Comfy bed well supplied and just a great place to relax.

So enjoyed staying here. The wild turkeys and deer were wonderful to see. They came to visit every day. The cottage is small but has everything you need. Neighborhood very quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful view of mountains. trees, and deer who were a constant presence. Comfortable lodging with many amenities. Informative notebook. Well-equipped and loved the heated bathroom floor. A most desirable cabin to enjoy.

I'm not sure why VRBO is telling me this host left me a review, and I also need to leave one. I cancelled this booking due to personal reasons, it had nothing to do with the home or owners. The owner communicated with me just fine.

This house is very clean and modern and in a quiet neighborhood. It is just a few minutes away from a fairly well stocked grocery store and gas station.
The owner is close and helpful and responded quickly when I had a question.
For just two or three people it is an ideal place to stay if you want to visit Lassen Park.

Absolutely lovely private cabin, very upscale, even larger and airier than expected, and well/equipped with everything you need.
Nestled in the forest with a stunning view of Mount Shasta, we loved our stay at this bright and beautiful cabin.
Covered parking, responsive host, gorgeous home, and oh that view.

We had a great time. The house was very clean, new and had everything we needed. It is bigger than it looks in pictures. The backyard was beautiful, deer walked by every day. Would definitely recommend!

Host was kind the cabin perfect!! Location was beautiful!! The pine needles around the cabin were very slippery we all fell several times. Be careful.

Beautiful little cottage with great views out the back. My son and I enjoyed our stay and did some photography including night star pictures. Highly recommend if you want a quiet stay. No television was a plus and a good reason to sit on the deck or by the fire pit.

I LOVE this property! One bedroom cottage was perfect for our family of three. We have family in the area that we were visiting for the holiday. The home is clean, updated and beautifully decorated. The views are incredible. My son was over the moon to see the deer and turkeys wandering the property. Nancy was a kind and responsive host. We cannot wait until our next visit. Highly recommend a stay here!

The house is as described in the listing, new and luxurious. The owner communicates very well, friendly, and helpful. It is one of the best VRBO places we have stayed at.
The accommodation is very comfortable like staying in a luxury hotel plus more benefits such as your own kitchen with complete tools and equipments, a beautiful porch and a stunning view, a campfire site that we used almost every night (having a camp fire and star gazing), a visit from wild animals such as deers and turkeys every day, and a stay in a quiet forest. The bed is very comfortable. There is a futon bed that we didn’t use but is adequate for 2 more persons. It is not a big place but would be comfortable for a couple or a young family with 2 kids or 2 friends/family members traveling together.
We visited surrounding Lassen Volcano National Park(only 19 miles away) and Burney Falls(1 hour away). We came back to a serene and beautiful environment every day. It is a well worth every penny you will spend,

This cabin is beautiful in the inside and outside. The kitchen is very well-equipped for preparing meals. The view from the deck is lovely and private. It is a wonderful option for staying in the Lassen/Redding area.

We spent 3 days in the cabIn. It is not super big but it is just right for a couple. We loved having breakfast each morning on the porch. The view was amazing. And we saw lots of wildlife come through the property which was very cool. Nancy is a great host and really took care of us during our visit. We had a great relaxing time!

I could have sat on the large porch all day, enjoying the breeze of the fans and the parade of animals that came by. The inside is gorgeous. Be sure to bring your own entertainment. No TV was nice, but I’d wished we brought the cribbage board.

This little house is a gem! My absolute favorite part was the back porch/patio. It was like a trip to the zoo watching the deer, turkeys, and other furry friends go about their evening explorations. What a great way to unwind at the end of the day!
The inside of the little cabin was just as nice! No TV was a little of a surprise, but certainly not a problem. Who needs TV with a view like that!? Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen and the beds were comfortable - even the futon.
The only issue was the extra cost of a mandatory insurance policy for $79 (for our two night stay) that was not mentioned until after the booking process. I would recommend putting this in the description so it doesn’t come as a surprise.
Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin! I will definitely recommend it to others! :)

A beautiful cottage that ushers in peace when you first step in. The beautiful view off the private deck, to view Gods majesty, is just this close to heaven.
Perfect for small groups, small families or on your own like I did. A bit pricey for the size, but the million dollar view is worth it. Top of the line finishes and comforts. Truly a relaxing and beautiful stay.

Beautiful & peaceful
This rental exceeded my expectations. The photos don't even do it justice. It's charming and comfortable, clean and well-appointed. While there was wildfire smoke obscuring what would otherwise be a breathtaking view, I still found it really beautiful to be among the trees. It felt very private, despite relatively close neighbors. I walked through the neighborhood with my dog, and also went on nearby hikes. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout the whole place, and everything was new or like new condition, and well constructed (e.g. double-pane windows, effective A/C, well-appointed kitchen, pretty bathroom with amazing large walk-in shower, etc). Communication with the owner was great - I had a few small questions and she was incredibly responsive and helpful. It wasn't the cheapest rental once fees were included, but I feel like it was worth it for the location and features; the owners have clearly invested time and money into creating a special property. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, hopefully for longer.

This beautiful cottage was perfectly equipped for our week-long stay near Lassen Park. Though the weather was warm, the cottage did not heat up greatly while we were gone during the day, and a couple of hours of AC cooled it down nicely. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the covered patio, looking over peaceful woods complete with visiting deer and turkeys. Nancy was very helpful and lovely to deal with.

Relaxing with a Wonderful View
I had a great and relaxing stay. I was traveling with my dog and did some hikes in the surrounding area. I spent quite a bit of time relaxing at the cottage as my main goal was to enjoy a break from my job. The Wifi works great if you want to stream movies. I brought up all my own groceries in a cooler from The Nugget so did not really have to leave except to go hiking or exploring the surrounding area. Everything is in great working order and I did not need to buy any extra supplies.

We had a great time staying in Shingletown at this property. It was clean, cozy and modern. Nancy was extremely accommodating and worked with us through our travel plans and what the weather had in store. It all worked out perfectly. We were able to cook all of our meals at the cabin with the cookware and appliances Nancy had there. Other than that we leaned into the cabin lifestyle and played games, warmed up by the fireplace, and took in the views. When we did get a nice day of weather we made a day trip out of snowshoeing in Lassen National Park and drove up to Burney Falls.

Modern Clean and Cozy
We had a great 3 nights stay. Enjoyed a bon fire in the backyard and exploring the local beauty/sites. Very modern but cozy place, perfect for 2. Appreciated the immaculate cleanliness. Owners live across the street and were very friendly and accommodating when needed.

The house is small but perfect for a couple that wants to enjoy the peace of the mountain. It’s a brand new house with everything you need ( no TV but you don’t need it when you can stare at the stars!). When we arrived we found a family of turkeys welcoming us. There’s a nice view of the forest and the valley below from the large deck. The pillows are not very comfy so if you are a pillow freak bring your own. Nancy is very kind and she accommodated all our last minute request. The place to stay!

Loved our stay here - house is newly built, very clean and comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed eating our meals out on the spacious deck. Convenient to visiting Lassen. Not many food options in Shingletown, but we had good experiences ordering from Reed’s Deli.

Perfect spot for a peaceful vacation
Spotless, elegant, and extremely comfortable. Great windows, window coverings, and AC for a good choice of temp/ventilation, and probably one of the nicest bathrooms I’ve ever had in a vacation rental. Lovely views through French doors in both bedroom and LR. Stovetop a little small for serious cooking (hard to use more than 2 burners), but kitchen perfectly reasonably equipped for short-term stays (and oil, some seasonings, etc. supplied, which is nice). Excellent host.
