Use the Barska Professional Spotting Scope or the binoculars to see clear across the lake.
For sleeping accommodations, there are two pocket door adjoining bedrooms (one with a queen bed and the other with two twins). We have many forest friends who come to visit including beavers, foxes, red squirrels, chipmunks, osprey, ducks, turkeys, deer, swans, geese, and keep your eyes peeled for the great, grey heron. You may even be lucky enough to see our most famous resident, the bald eagle. Be on the look out for the Indian Lake Monster AKA Indy.
Day Trips
Winter at Yellow Hook holds it's own special charms. There are several ski resorts a short drive away. Mohawk, Catamount and Butternut Mountains are nearby for day or night skiing. Ski all day and return to the cabin for apres ski. If the cold holds, our lake freezes solid and offers the opportunity for ice fishing.

There is seasonal auto racing at Lime Rock in Salisbury or the 4 Brothers Drive-In movie theater in Amenia. My family had such a wonderful time at this cabin on the lake!! It was the perfect size for our family of 4. We spent our days out in the beautiful yard, fishing and kayaking! It was so relaxing and quiet out on the water. A small town secluded feel, but there was a CVS 5 minutes away for any necessities. The hosts have thought of everything and supply everything you may need. We can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed our four day stay, us, our dog, the lake, blue herons, hawks, bald eagle and a bottle of wine! Very quiet and just what we needed!
The cabin was clean, kitchen had everything we needed and more and the garden was lovely.
Thanks for the welcome gifts, which were put to good use. The Millerton Inn is a great place for dinner, food was excellent and the evening perfect for dinner on the porch!

My husband and I stayed here with our two small dogs. It was a perfect New England lakeside getaway. The cottage is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The grounds include gorgeous gardens, lake and mountain views, a nature preserve with hiking trails, and beautiful sunset views. The area is very private and quiet, perfect for sitting out in the morning with a coffee and listening to the birds. The owners were available if needed, and they included so many amenities and little touches around the place, they really thought of everything. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch and very much appreciated. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this property for a relaxing stay to unwind with nature.

Enjoyed the beauty of being right by the lake and the wonderful sounds of the birds and other wildlife. The sunsets were beautiful to watch from inside and outside the home. Paddleboards and kayaks were available for our use at anytime. Complete kitchen made mealtime enjoyable and the hosts thought of everything to help make our visit extra special.

Had a good experience at this rental. The owners were low contact and kept it simple. I went with a friend to enjoy the lake, eat, and check out the quaint nearby towns. House is small but it has everything you could want there and more. Nice private setting and everything clean and neat inside and out. Great place to unwind and enjoy a slow pace of life. There is enough to do around in a small town way, and some good eats in a 10-20 minute radius.

This was a great getaway. The fishing off the dock was fantastic and it is a lovely part of CT to explore.

My husband and I spend 3 nights at this wonderful cottage in Sharon CT with our 2 small dogs. We had such a nice relaxing weekend. The cottage has everything you need including the most beautiful lake view. The area is full of hiking trails and other little towns to visit. We will definitely return soon again. I can’t wait to visit in spring or summer when all the local farmers markets are in full swing.

I was looking for a quiet getaway after busy holiday mom mode. They have Nespresso pods and other nice touches which were a pleasant surprise. The outdoor space is really cute. They have a picnic table and fire pit and even some art incorporated into the outdoor space! Highly recommend.

Being from the area and no longer owning a home in Sharon the cottage was perfect. It provided all the comforts of home. The setting right on Indian lake was relaxing. Wish the weather had been more cooperative however, being down in the area for a high school reunion left little time for activities. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and I definitely will be booking for future stays to visit relatives.

I can't say enough about the property and the property owner! The lake house was exactly as described and the "workings" of the property were well outlined in a binder. Despite rainy weather all 3 days, we had the most relaxing, comfortable stay. We brought along our little " Daisy" dog, so we did not do any sight seeing, but the view out the back was all we needed!!!! Close enough in CT, that we can't wait to book another weekend . Special thanks to our hosts, for the welcome note and gift, and for immediately responding to our silly questions!! It was hard going back home. Some words of advice, however many days you are planning, book one or 2 more. You wont be sorry! Noelle, Alan and Daisy-Mae

This is my second stay here and even with some rainy days during my trip, it is so serene and beautiful here. It’s such a refreshing experience to be beside the beauty of the lake right here. Such a lovely spot and I hope to be back many more times!

We had a great stay here. We were looking for a spot where we could relax and enjoy the final days of summer and this was the perfect place - it was so quiet and peaceful. We spent most of our time enjoying the lake, using the provided fishing gear and kayaks/paddleboard. The hosts were great with communication leading up to our visit. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful spot to recharge.

I wanted a peaceful place surrounded by nature to work remotely for a week and this was perfect! A friend came with and the size of the cabin was great for us and very well appointed. And the setting is simply amazing. Right on Indian Lake with kayaks and a canoe which we put to good use. Perfect spot to watch the sunset from the Adirondack chairs or eat meals at the picnic table. There are hiking trails all over but a very nice one right across the street. The NW corner of Connecticut is so beautiful and this was a perfect home base for the week.

We had such a great time here! The host was very available and answered any questions in a very timely manner. The house is adorable and comfortable for the two of us. We chose this one because it came with all the "stuff" for Lake Life! Fishing poles, kayaks, paddle board...we had so much fun enjoying the lake without having to pack a bunch of stuff. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful property, cottage is small but adequate for the 4 of us. Amanda had everything you’ll need for your stay. She responds very quickly to questions.

This is a super little bungalow tucked alongside Indian Lake on a quiet country road. The accommodation is perfect for 2-4 people, it has all the amenities you need inside & outside are beautifully landscaped gardens & easy access to the lake. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, fishing & hiking on the trails located just across from the property. Plenty of great eating & drinking spots are located nearby in Sharon & Millerton, or you can just have a barbie at the house & enjoy the view across the lake. Great sunsets ! Highly recommended

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was very clean and comfortable/cozy! The view was beautiful, right on the lake! We enjoyed bird watching, especially the eagles!! It was obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into making our stay enjoyable and carefree!

This cabin was lovely. Situated on a beautiful lake with gorgeous sunsets. Plenty of outdoor space for enjoying the breeze off the lake. The bed was comfortable and the location was a short drive to several restaurants We were there for a high school graduation so we were in and out in a couple of days. Would love to have stayed a few more days and done some hiking. Next time!

The property was perfect in every way, inside and out. Abundant attention to cute and helpful details through the house.. The hosts have incredibly generous policies and we enjoyed using their boats and other outdoor recreation equipment. Unique features outside the house included an underground fire pit. Our dog loves the property including a cute little gift the hosts left along with other things for us to welcome us. We usually end up leaving properties during the day to explore the area but in this case we didn’t even find the time for although on our way home we found that there was a very nice town center around 15 minutes away. Really the house and property were much more than expected based on the photos. Should also note that while there are other houses along the shore of the lake, the design and position of the property really makes it like you have the entire like to yourself. We are very big on feeling isolated and away from people on trips and this house satisfied that desire. This was our best rental stay ever!

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at the cabin. The peaceful setting on Indian Lake was just what we needed. We spent most of our time sitting outdoors enjoying the spectacular views and eating our meals. There are amazing lake views from the living room and master bedroom. The cabin was stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay.
Our hosts were amazing. They always returned our emails promptly, made our check in process so easy, provided us with a list of restaurants and activities in the area.
We will definitely be returning to the cabin in the fall!

The house was adorable and right on the lake! Everything was in the house that we needed. Even had coffee creamer. The host was very attentive and answered all our questions. The only thing that was a bit of a problem was the yard wasn’t fenced in. We brought our dog and had to watch him to make sure he didn’t go on the street — the house sits very close to a busy road. Besides that, we had a great time

Amazing little lakeside cottage that was perfect for two people and a dog. We stayed here for a local family event and wanted a space to ourselves that was also pet friendly. This cottage was that and more! Amanda and Ed were awesome hosts; very communicative and even put a toy for our puppy in our welcome basket! The property is beautiful inside and out with every amenity you can think of (and more). We really enjoyed lazy mornings sitting by the lake and our dog loved being able to run around the yard on a long line. It's obvious how much work the hosts have put into making this an absolutely charming, cozy and also modern place to stay. This will definitely be our top place to stay next time we're in the area!

My wife loved it so much she stayed there to enjoy it while I went to Parent Teacher conferences about our kids. And she adores our kids - does everything for them. Just incredible.
Hats off to a remarkably wonderful getaway place. Can't recommend it enough

I’ve always wanted a house on a lake and for a few days that’s exactly what I got. This small, cozy cottage is a truly wonderful escape. Morning coffee watching the mist come off the lake and then yoga by the cozy electric fireplace made my days start perfectly. I’d love to spend a cold winter night enjoying this oasis too. Thank you you for a great few days.

Loved it. Had hoped sandy area to go into the water or a dock to jump into the water.

This place was even more gorgeous than the awesome pics showed. The landscaping and yard / lake are amazing. Had a great time with my dog and the welcome dog toy made her feel right at home too. All the personal touches made this quite an experience. Had some rain during my stay but made the best out of it and just loved the view!!! It made this cottage stand out. Hoping to be a repeat guest loved it so much!!! Awesome place. :)

We deeply enjoyed our relaxing (too) short stay at Amanda and Ed’s house. The house was convenient for the 4 of us with 2 of our kids aged 14 and 17. We enjoyed staying outside looking at the sunset, kayaking and hiking in the area. The house was as described, cosy and well equipped.

Yellow Hook is absolutely adorable! My husband & I spent the weekend here with our two daughters. We wanted a place to stay by the water where we could disconnect from our busy lives & enjoy the last of summer. The cabin was very clean & Amanda & Ed thought of everything you could need during your stay. We were welcomed with a personal note & basket of goodies. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed the gas grill outside as well. The beds were super comfortable, & we loved the charging station on the nightstands! But we really came for the outdoors. The sunsets on Indian Lake are to die for. I wish I could attach my photos here! The yard is spacious with so many beautiful flowers everywhere. The girls had fun with the lawn games & we roasted s’mores over the fire pit one night as well. Due to the lack of rain this summer, the water level was very low so it was not as easy to take the kayaks out or fish from the dock as we would have liked, but nothing you can do about that! We had a very relaxing time playing music outside, sitting in the Adirondack chairs with a nice cup of espresso, & watching the boats go by. We saw a great blue heron several times, a bear crossing the road, & tons of fish jumping out of the water. It felt like we were in our own little nature wonderland. We look forward to staying at Yellow Hook again!

Our overall experience was wonderful. The house was clean and comfortable. The host's go to great lengths to make you feel welcome, like providing furniture covers for pets and even having a toy for our dog in a welcome basket. The only downside was the lake is unusable from the home and there is no public beach either. Luckily the weather wasn't very hot during our stay and we were able to find other bodies of water close by to swim and go boating.
5.0
Just what we needed for a quick, relaxing getaway. The cottage is very accurate to the listing. Cozy, clean and right on Indian Lake. The setting is very serene. The kayaks are lightweight and easy to access, right off the dock. The canoe looked great but seemed harder to carry over so we skipped that. I brought my own paddle board which was also very easy to use right off the dock. Lake is pretty and quiet. Although house is off a busy road, it was never too busy and still very quiet. Easy drive to a few good restaurants and the throw back drive in movie in Amenia was a lot of fun. Only thing I would change, ideally, would be for the dock to be longer because it is small and in a swampy area so you can’t swim right off the dock. But we had a great time jumping off the kayaks once we paddled out a bit. Overall, host was great - the little touches like s’mores kit and candies were very appreciated - and the setting was beautiful. Thank you!

Charming and tranquil getaway!
Looking for a waterfront property to relax for a few days and unwind as my husband got used to being newly retired, we required someplace pet-friendly as our rescue pup was joining us. Amanda and Ed’s cottage in Sharon was perfect for our needs. The property is well-maintained and lovely with the vibrant gardens and immaculate lawn. The interior is nicely decorated and boasts large windows to enjoy the view. A thoughtful personal note and welcome gift - including a squeaky toy for Hobo - made it all the more special. Considerate touches like providing water and food bowls, and a pet cover on the couch were appreciated. On one of the hottest weeks in years, the cottage was cool and comfortable as we enjoyed watching the dragonflies along the edge of the lake. The area provided an assortment of restaurants, we loved the market in Sharon. We look forward to revisiting Yellow Hook again.

Perfection
The description of the property in the listing - "charming lakefront cabin" - really fails to do this magical place justice. The cabin is immaculate and manages somehow to be rustic and modern at the same time. Beautiful surroundings and overall a serene and deeply peaceful spot. I have already started dreaming about a return visit. Highly, highly recommend.

peace and quiet
Very pretty area. House was in excellent shape, neat, clean well decorated with lots of artwork and other pieces
Gardens are beautiful. Right on the Lake and gorgeous views.
We were not looking for a busy place, but there are restaurants etc. scattered around and Millerton has a lot of shops/antiques.

Convenient, relaxing accomodations
Lots of amenities here! The cottage is right on the lake with access to kayaks, canoe, and more. Unfortunately, we were unable to take advantage due to unexpected family commitments. We did enjoy breakfast on the lake several mornings in the beautiful landscaped yard. House full of technology and WiFi speed higher than I have ever experienced. Fully equipped kitchen we hardly used but had everything we needed. Clean, clean, clean. The only draw back is the proximity to the street but once inside and out back it's hardly noticable. Many thanks for everything.

Weather uncooperative, Did the best we could
Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. Did you see a black bear and a cub across the street where the field meets the tree line. Really wanted to take the boys fishing on the boat while the wife could catch some sun. Cabin was good, clean, no complaints I have to try again when the weather is warmer
