A GREAT cabin in the woods that is close to many activities and hiking trails. We will be back to this property! The hosts were very responsive and you can tell that they care about what they do.

Cabin was great! Beautiful wood throughout! Kitchen was really great: hot water quickly delivered from faucet, large work areas, full fridge, electric stove. Location was close to everything but still far out enough to have plenty of privacy. The only downside was the upstairs Master Bedroom A/C couldn't keep up with the summer heat. We planned on extending our stay but decided against it because of the A/C. This would be a Beautiful place in the Fall or Winter. We plan to return.

This size of the place and being pet-friendly was very attractive and did not disappoint. It was hot and sunny during our stay and the upstairs air conditioning was a bit weak - my wife and I are both warm sleepers so this was our only wish for better cooling. Otherwise, the place was great and we really enjoyed our time - the architecture of the interior and the porches make it a truly relaxing escape!

Great home for the price. It was located a short drive from Franklin NC and Clayton GA, which are both great towns to park and walk around in. When we arrived, the power was out in the area and the host were quick to respond to us and stayed in contact with us until the power was restored in the area. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

If I were building a log cabin it would look like this! Large yet cozy. Very comfortable. Also there were some issues that I though the owner should be aware of and when I brought them to his attention he responded almost immediately and was so grateful for the information provided. Overall, really good experience for my family.

We enjoyed our anniversary. A change of scenery in the mountains.

The cabin was great! However the pots were not usable for us and we like to cook at home. They were old Teflon that was peeling. I would have rathered to have been told to bring our own pots but no problem, we bought a cheapie and just left it. The other issue was the faucet in the master shower was positioned wrong so to shower you had to soap down and remove the head and rinse off… an easy fix!
Other than these 2 minor issues this cabin was a 10!!!
We will definitely recommend it to anyone going to that area.
We love the outdoors so it’s perfect and perfectly private!!!
Oh the WI-FI was great too!

The cabin is situated in a scenic part of the highlands, well off the busy Georgia road but close enough to allow fast travel to multiple state parks. We were thrilled by the spacious interior and the copious deck space. Comfortable Adirondack chairs, the propane grill and three bathrooms were a plus as well. We would absolutely stay again!

We loved staying in this cabin. It had everything we needed and is in a great location. Our dog stayed too and that was an added bonus.
My only recommendation is, because it is a dog friendly cabin, to include dog friendly places/things to do in your book. That would be an added bonus!!!
We will stay again!

Beautiful woodwork inside, very clean, EXTREMELY spacious, has all the amenities you need.
(I love having a washer and dryer when we vacation. )
So beautiful sitting on the deck with coffee … we chose a different place or area and level of deck each day.

Okay place, would not come back.
The "bones" of the house were nice, as you can see from the photos. The location is indeed fairly private. The hosts were fine, and the pellet stove was nice. However, we had a lot of minor issues with the place that became a real issue when viewed cumulatively.
--The place was superficially clean, but all of the "soft" items in the house (excluding towels, but including couches, bedding, rugs) were dingy, stained, and smelly/greasy. Like when someone's had big dogs on their stuff for years.
--Numerous wood-boring insects infest the wooden master bed frame, creating audible munching sounds at night.
--Deferred maintenance on the slow upstairs shower drain has caused severe cracking in the shower floor concrete. You shower in a growing puddle water on bits of broken concrete. The shower must last less than 5 minutes, otherwise it spills out onto the floor, raining down into the dining area below.
--The dryer is broken; everything needed to be draped to dry.
--Only one of three bathrooms had a door (no lock), and it's in the kids' room downstairs. The bathroom off the dining area has only a curtain. If there are kids in your group, it's nighttime, and you have to go #2, things get pretty intimate for the dining room.
--The kitchen is poorly stocked. No cutting boards with resulting dull knives, tiny toaster, few utensils, etc.
--The fire pit is on an incline, which reveals itself as a problem when you try to find a place to sit, or if there are kids in your group (fall risk on the upslope), or if you try to make s'mores (everything rolls).
--Downstairs sliding door does not lock. Possibly not an issue if this were your own residence and you knew your neighbors, but uncomfortable for someone new to the area.
--The check-out process felt burdensome, e.g. hosts only supply one trash can and expect you to drive any extra bags of trash to the dump yourself. You do most of your own cleaning.
It's not a bad place. For an outdoorsy, super low-maintenance person with big dogs who identifies the above as "rustic," you won't have any issues. For someone looking for a base camp for visiting Highlands, who identifies the above as "poorly maintained," keep looking.

Wonderful Stay
My husband and I loved the cabin. It was exactly as advertised. We can’t wait to visit again with our two fur babies.

Rustic Hideaway
Great property, plenty of room, beautiful view, great decks. Cleanliness okay, kitchen supplies lacking. One thing I really appreciated was not a bunch of decorative stuff to move out of the way to used the counters, etc.

Our stay at Rustic Hideaway in Otto NC
We had a great time. The cabin was very warm and cozy and was perfect for a long weekend getaway. Drinking my morning coffee on the deck off of the master bedroom was the most peaceful time I have had in a long time. The best part was the 2 inches of snow we got and the epic snowball fight that ensued with the kids. I would definitely recommend this property and will return to stay in the future.
