Great spring break at this lovely location
2.0 / 5.0
With serious cleaning and attention to some safety and maintenance concerns, this property has great potential. Most cons are directed toward issues that need to be addressed while guests are not staying in the home. The only work order we requested while there was for the broken garbage disposal to be fixed since it had such a foul odor. It was Thanksgiving week when we stayed and did not want to keep others from their families for all the additional issues and concerns we noticed, but we did mention to the owner about everything when they asked about our stay to give honest and constructive feedback. However, it did not seem well received. Since it appears the standards were met from the owner's standpoint, we would unfortunately not return to this home given the cleanliness and maintenance concerns we encountered. The amount of dirt, dust, and film on the windows and counters indicated a strong lack of attention to the cleaning process between guests. Other longer-term hygiene neglect would be dirty dishes with food particles left in cabinets, old food boxes and drink bottles under beds, and various junk left in other cabinets and closets. A few maintenance concerns would be the Cricut paper taped to the bathroom window for “privacy”(which did not provide full coverage), faulty shower curtain that continually fell down, and exposed electrical outlets.
The pros would be the festive decorations, hot tub, and nice furniture.

A very enjoyable experience. Amenities were great, weather perfect, location undisturbed. Few Appliances were brand new and required support which was swiftly supplied. Great area to explore local wonders. We had a great stay and would stay again.

First off, Lin, the property manager did a fantastic job trying to solve problems that were out of his control. The cleaning lady came back to the house to take care of a few issues that arose. Both were fantastic to work with.
On our way to the home. We were coming from Florida and we also had family traveling from OKC. We left home to be able to arrive around the posted check in time. I started to receive text messages a few hours into our trip asking for more time to clean the house. The previous tenants trashed the home and the normal time to clean the home was going to be doubled due to the condition of the home. We slowed down and took our time to accommodate the need.
The house has an easy access to and from 441. No hills getting to the house and no long curvy drive ways. Plenty of parking. So it was easy access getting there at dark.
The house was “clean” upon arrival, but not the clean that we have come to expect from VRBO rentals. There was debris on the floors in different parts of the home and we found a few used hair ties that had hair attached to them. The cleaning lady did her best to get the home ready for us and returned the next day to take care of the things she missed.
The previous renters broke the chandelier in the dining room, broke the latch on the gate on the porch, broke the brand new electric recliner down stairs, broke the mirror off the wall down stairs, broke the downstairs toilet (major repair is needed to fix it) and left a mound of trash (enough that it took several car loads and truck loads to haul off. The cleaning lady and maintenance guy took turns getting rid of it all.
The downstairs toilet was out of commission the entire week stay and we had to use buckets of water to flush each time. Super inconvenient, but it worked. Maintenance guy said the bathroom needed a new toilet and plumbing needed to be completely redone. The plan was to do the repair once we were gone so water could be turned off and repair could be done.
Wi-Fi worked great, but went down 4 days into our stay. We had to use our hotspots for TV. My husband and brother had to go to town to work on laptops.
The home has great potential to be an amazing house to host many families and many memories to be made.
Pros: close to Dillard, Scaly Mountain, Franklin, Clayton, Highlands, big home, great outdoor space, easy access and plenty of parking
We enjoy the fire pit each night. The kids loved the tree house
