About this house rental
Located just 20 miles from the heart of the French Quarter on Historic Lake Catherine Island, this coastal retreat has it all. Enjoy the coastal breezes while on the elevated sun deck, screen porch, boat dock or private fishing pier. This Lake Home is well appointed with a completely stocked kitchen (4 different coffee makers!) and high-quality linens. We even provide the following: 6 fishing rods and tackle, crab traps, crab nets, ice chests, boiling equipment, canoe with paddles, 12 ft. johnboat, 2 inflatable/rigid stand-up paddleboards (SUP), and life jackets of all sizes. Bring your boat and dock in the private protected canal or book a charter and they can pick you up on the dock. Fish at night under the dock lights and use the wheeled wagon for hauling in your catch and freezing your filets in our dedicated fish freezer prior to your return. This place has it all! If you miss the magnificent sunrise in front, be sure to catch it set on the west side over Lake Pontchartrain. The perfect retreat for family and friends. Early check-in and/or check-out for a fee available upon request and availability.

I can’t say enough good things about this property or the host! It was our second stay here and even though our trip was cut short by the hurricane it was still an amazing couple of days! The host was absolutely wonderful and stayed in touch about the weather and helped us through the process of having to leave early. We can’t thank him enough!

Good size place with beautiful views over marsh. Not quite as clean as expected with limited toiletries; however, contacted owner and quick responses and good communication. Catching blue crabs off dock was a special treat.

We loved our stay at this amazing house on Lake Catherine. The house is clean, nicely decorated, easy check in, and the kitchen is very stocked, We loved the screened in porch and the private dock (our first time using crab traps). The outside area is peaceful and the view goes on for miles. We made trips into New Orleans and the Slidell area with no issues. Would stay here again.

This place was absolutely perfect. The hospitality is over and above 10 out of 10!! Couldnt have asked for a better way to experience Louisiana and New Orleans. Perfect! Highly recommend!

We caught a lot of crabs but not so much fish. Only one big red fish and a few small croakers and small trout which we threw back in the lake. We saw two alligators also. We will definitely rent again.

We loved our stay here! The hosts provided SO much fishing gear, including the boat and crab traps! The house was super cute, well stocked, and clean. We loved getting to explore the city and then come back to the house for relaxation and fishing! It provided us just the balance in our trip that we were looking for. Thank you, hosts! 😊

If I could give more stars I would. We stayed here and the space was beautiful, the views were unbelievable and the extras were the icing on top. The kids loved crabbing off the dock and fishing with the owners local recommended guide. Fishing was the fan favorite of the trip. The adults loved coffee watching the sunrise and wine watching the sunset in the swinging bench on the screened in porch. It was relaxing and amazing and everything we needed. We will definitely come back, even though Louisiana was not the end point on our original trip. We just adored this place.

This place is a super neat place. Well kept up and has everything. You could stay here for a week and not have to go anyway else to have fun. They have boats, fishing supplies, games. Beautiful places to sit on deck and porches. Very quite. It's like being in your own home, they have it all, dishes, glasses, pots, pans, towels, bedding, grill. David and Jeff took care of us very well. This place would be perfect for a family with kids. Sleeps 8 with 2 bathrooms 3 bedrooms. It was just me and my husband,but we enjoyed all the room.

We originally booked this house because of the boat. We were unable to get the motor started (we own multiple boats with different motors). There was a trolling motor that could be used as well, but honestly the boat is much smaller/unstable than I would have guessed from the photos. I’m only mentioning the boat to adjust the expectations for those who find the use of it important. The boat aside, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay in this home again! We were blown away with everything the owners allow us to use. We picked this house because of the fishing off the dock. We brought our own poles & tackle, but there were plenty for guests to use. There was a cast net, bait cooler, electric & battery bubblers, buckets, literally everything you could want for fishing. There’s also a mosquito sprayer, hammocks and so much more! The bait freezer was stocked with leftover bait & ice. You will find detergents, garbage bags, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, paper towels, a soft sided yeti cooler & yeti cups, no need to bring anything. This truly was a unique and special place to stay. I can’t thank the owners enough for allowing us to use all of the wonderful things they provide.

The property was even better than appeared in pictures. Very clean and everything in working order. Very well stocked. We brought towels, and didn’t even need them. The house even smells great! A/C unit works great. Yeti cups and cooler were a nice touch. The water is definitely off colored as mentioned, but doesn’t have a smell or cause any issue-we brought drinking water and were fine. One of the reasons we chose this property was the available equipment, and it did not disappoint! This was a trip dedicated to my husbands 40th birthday, because fishing is his favorite thing to do. The kayaks and small Jon boat were an amazing addition to the trip and he thoroughly enjoyed himself! The pier is well lit at night, and was more than enough space for the six of us to lounge during the day! It has power outlets and tons of rod holders. This trip was the first time I’ve ever fished with my kids, and we made memories we will never forget. It was also the first trip we’ve taken with our new golden doodle, and he had a blast also. We were really able to bond with him, and are closer as a result. We did see one small alligator and a snake (as to be expected in the wild), but they left us alone and weren’t a concern. Just another cool memory from our trip. Check in and check out were seamless and David (owner) was readily available during the trip. Overall, this was an amazing getaway, we definitely recommend, and we will be back. We’re Hooked!!

This was the perfect launching point for our family’s New Orleans adventures! We were able to go in to explore the city easily, but we’re also to enjoy the peace around Lake St. Catherine. Our kids especially enjoyed fishing and heading out in the little boat. It was the best of both worlds!
The house was well-stocked (including outdoor equipment) and was exactly as described in the listing. Communication was also excellent. Thanks for being great hosts!

“I’m Hooked” is such a beautiful home and lovely stay away from reality on a gorgeous lake front! We spent time on the dock fishing, catching crabs, and relaxing on the deck each morning enjoying our King Cake for Mardi Gras! David and Craig were incredibly helpful with tips and tricks of the stay and responded immediately when an issue arises. The house was stocked with everything we could have needed and more! The hypo-allergenic laundry detergent was a HUGE plus! We would definitely recommend “I’m Hooked” to anyone! Our annual girls trip for President’s Day weekend and this year turned Mardi Gras was fabulous!

My wife and I were super excited about this trip, especially because the house was close to my hometown; and we were definitely not disappointed.
The home has absolutely everything we needed and is also very tastefully decorated. While the weather did not fully cooperated, we did have a little time to spend on the dock enjoying our cocktails and wetting a line. (It was really cold). The kitchen is amazing, while we spent most of our trip eating out we did cook a nice dinner and some drink snacks. I will say, the selection of yeti cups was a really nice touch.
Location was perfect; it took us less than 30 minutes to get to the french quarter and less than 45 minutes to the garden district. Slidell is probably less than 20 minutes for groceries and the seafood shop.
While we really didn't need any assistance, we did talk to the property owners to check in and I have no doubt if we had needed anything, they would have been right on top of it.
I look forward to visiting again with my son for a little fishing and crabbing, definitely when its a little warmer.

Can not say enough good things about this rental! Extremely clean and comfortable! Perfect location to enjoy nature but minutes away from a memorable city experience! We loved the fishing and sightseeing. Our host was so gracious and thoughtful. He checked in frequently and gave us fishing and touring tips. We had a great time! The camp had everything we needed. Communication was fast, the space was really clean and decorated so nice, the kitchen was stocked with every appliance and kitchenware item you can think of. Washer and dryer were very convenient. I had brought my own soap, detergent, shampoo, garbage bags, etc. but it was all supplied so next time I will pack much lighter. Loved the screened porch, the freight elevator, and the space underneath camp. It was great for playing Cornhole (brought our own). It was super windy the weekend we were there and it made fishing difficult because the lake was cloudy so we switched to crabbing since all the equipment was there. Crabbing was so much fun! We caught a bunch. You just need to bring your own crab bait. I'm glad they suggested bringing drinking water as it was dark. It's just how the water is in that area. It's safe to drink,
just darker than I had imagined. I highly recommend bringing plenty bottled water for drinking, coffee, and cooking. I hope we can go back again next year!

David and Craig were informative and gracious hosts! Their lovely home was very comfortably furnished and well appointed! We spent many hours enjoying the great views from the dock and home! The home is located a short drive from the French Quarter and great restaurants yet is in a very peaceful setting away from town, best of both worlds! We highly recommend these hosts and their lovely home! We look forward to visiting again!

EVERYthing was beyond expectations. Our family and pups immediately felt at home on the lake. Camp has a beautiful set up and decor. There is something for everyone both inside and outdoors. Boat slip, crab traps & boiling pot, screened in porch and covered outdoor space were enjoyed to the max. This will be an annual “staycation” before back to school.

We simply loved our stay! The house was perfect for my family with 3 older teenagers. The view (especially sunrise) was breathtaking and the peacefulness was perfect. Loved everything about the stay!

Checked in was easy and simple. Dropped our bags and launched our boat. The rest was easy. Just set back and enjoy the fishing, crabing, and family time. We will be back soon. David is a great host and will go out of his way to make sure we had everything to enjoy our stay.

This property was amazing. The view was beautiful. The property was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with anything needed for cooking. My family really enjoyed fishing off of the private dock. Property is very quiet and relaxing.

Wonderful stay, absolutely everything you need is there.
Our family of three stayed three nights at this perfect fish camp. We had everything we needed to just stay “home” and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our son caught some ocean catfish, a channel catfish, and a stingray off the dock. As soon as we thought of something we needed, we found it available in the house. The hosts literally thought of everything. It is not every vacation that you find yourself with private access to your own little lake inlet and pristine dock with a peaceful, spectacularly setting. We were grateful for the opportunity to stay here.

Lake Catherine vacation
What a wonderful property. So many amenities. The place was everything that was advertised. Used the crab traps to catch some crab. Used the fishing poles and caught some catfish, stingray, golden croaker, and some sheepshead. Unfortunately it was VERY windy and we did not get a chance to go out in the canoe or the boat that was provided. The inside of the home had everything you could ever need. Sat out on the balcony and read a book and sat in the outside porch to eat our breakfast. Took a ride into New Orleans and visited the French Quarter. Other that the weather - everything was PERFECT !!!!!!

Wow. Our stay was so perfect that we booked another future trip before we even left!! I’ve stayed at many rentals around the country but no other has been so accommodating. This place has EVERYTHING you need! From complimentary hair care pouches in each bathroom, to every seasoning you can think of in the kitchen, and skewers for the grill, this place has it ALL! I cannot even begin to list the extras or this review would be a mile long. The entire place is pristine from top to bottom and all the way to the dock. Also fyi, the place is even cuter and seems more spacious in person than in the photos. Can’t wait to return for our next stay!!!

Almost Perfect Vacation
I cannot express how PERFECT this adorable camp is...or was. 😭 Unfortunately, we were there less than 24 hours and Hurricane Ida sent us back home to Southwest Louisiana. I really hope it makes it through this devastating storm. David was amazing with details and his hospitality! He actually refund our rental fees...absolutely speechless! That camp has anything and EVERYTHING you could possibly need! I just hope we weren't the last to visit "I'm Hooked!" We will definitely return if it was spared! 💚 Thank.tpu so much David & Craig!

Awesome Lake stay!
House exceeded our expectations! Very clean. Decor was beautiful. Well stocked... had everything we needed and more! Deck furniture updates since posted pictures and lower portion of house now with matching siding/paint. Extremely convenient to New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain, and swamp tours. Not a bad drive to Fountainbleau State park and then loop back over the Pontchartrain bridge... we did all of this in our 4 days there and still had plenty of time to fish. Evening fishing on dock is best. Caught many crabs! We brought a trolling motor and used the boat to reach the marsh. Was a great time with family and pups. Awesome memories!! Would do it again without question!

Thank you to David for extending his home for a wonderful vacation rental. If you are looking for a place to unwind and disconnect, this is the place for you. The house is clean and wonderfully stocked with everything you will need. The beds are amazing and the outdoor amenities and views cannot be beat. We had a family of 5 adults and had plenty of room. The proximity to New Orleans or Biloxi beaches is an easy drive but being at the house fishing, watching gators and catching crabs, sharks and gar were the highlight of the trip. The German’s from Madison, Wisconsin.
