About this house rental
Our cottage has a distant view of the Beaufort River and is situated under the canopy of a 100-year old live oak tree that is beautifully uplit at night. It is a 5-minute walk to some great restaurant options here on Ladys Island, and a short walk over the quaint swing bridge to all that downtown Beaufort has to offer.
A recent guest review says it all:
“This VRBO property is one of the best short-term rentals that we’ve experienced. Everything is spotless. The cottage is decorated in soothing tones and with a variety of vintage landscape and seascape watercolors. The privacy is unparalleled, and believe me, it's far better to be across the short bridge from downtown than in the midst of a great deal of tourist traffic. Everything you might want to visit is easily accessible from Live Oak Cottage.”
Upon your arrival, expect a fully-stocked kitchen with all cooking utensils and essential supplies provided (spices, oils, coffee, sugar, cooking gear, etc.), free wifi, filtered tap water, fridge with ice maker, gas stove, quartz countertops. 2 TVs with Roku streaming sticks, complimentary YouTubeTV account, USB ports throughout, and driveway parking for 2 vehicles. 2 bathrobes, memory foam mattress, the extra half bath, and laundry with detergent provided are big pluses. Also provided: extra bathroom tissue, paper towels, garbage bags, dish towels. Basically, just bring your toothbrush and clothes.
We have happily hosted honeymooners, birthday getaways, anniversaries, and Marine graduation families. Many are repeat visitors. We are a block from Whitehall Park, a beautiful 10-acre riverfront park that boasts bald eagles and hawks. We are a 10-minute drive to MCRD Parris Island for those families wanting to book for their loved one’s US Marine graduation event.
It is a 15-minute walk/2 min drive to downtown Beaufort, over the swing bridge (featured in “Forrest Gump”), keep an eye out for dolphins and osprey nests as you cross over the Beaufort River, also known as the Intercoastal Waterway.
There are many options right here on Ladys Island, without crossing the bridge. Our cottage is a 5-minute walk from a growing number of amazing dining options including the Dockside seafood restaurant with a fabulous screened-in outdoor bar and deck featuring sweeping views of Factory Creek. Q’s Chicken BBQ Shack offers a more casual dining experience. And then a must-visit is Beaufort’s most iconic locals bar/restaurant - The Filling Station, their outside deck overlooking Factory Creek is fantastic as is their casual menu.
The Whitehall Public Boat landing is two blocks away, where you can arrange fish charters and kayak rental tours to explore the Beaufort River and picturesque Factory Creek. There is also a generous public fishing pier adjacent to the boat landing...we have it all right here!
For your shopping needs: We are a 2-minute drive to ALL shopping supplies - grocery, pharmacy, fast food, Walmart, liquor store - yet our cottage is in a quiet, leafy neighborhood just off Route 21.
For trips to the beach we supply Beach chairs, beach towels, beach bag, umbrella, and a cooler.
We offer ample secured storage inside the front barn doors for your kayaks, bicycles, fishing gear.
Beaufort is a great home base for exploring the Lowcountry. Savannah is 45 minutes south, and Charleston is an hour and 15 mins to the north. Beaufort is a perfect jumping-off point to explore the Lowcountry in both directions! We are happy to recommend itineraries in both cities.
We provide all the comforts of home in an idyllic beautiful setting. At night, the landscape uplighting of the 100-year-old live oak and the 10’ European palm are magical. This cottage has our guests complete comfort in mind, and it is a haven from which to explore this fantastic part of the country.
We live on-site and are always available via text and cell.
Attention EV car owners, we now offer a Level 2 EV charging-station at the cottage. Inquire for details.

This place is beautiful! It's been decorated in such a way that it feels like a home... not a rental. It had EVERYTHING I needed and items that I didn't use! There are beach chairs, beach bag, beach towels, 2 white robes, anything you might need in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. This is the BEST rental I've ever stayed at. I could write thousands of words and yet never say enough good things. This is like HOME, not a rental

While we are not frequent VRBO users we have had a variety of stays over the years, this is my new gold standard. Everything from the location, design of the cottage, quality of amenities and professionalism of the hosts was spot on. We will definitely return to this property if we need to stay in this area again. I highly recommend you stay here too.

The cottage was OUTSTANDING! It was exactly as listed. The cottage had everything you could ever need. It was beautifully decorated and plenty of room for the two of us.
It was in a nice quiet neighborhood near plenty of restaurants, downtown Beaufort, a boat launch and a nice park at the end of the street. Our host, Barbara was easy to reach with any questions. She was very accommodating. We hope to return soon! Ann & Keith

First of all…. The tree out front!! 😍😍😍 Absolutely stunning!!! We had a super short visit, but our stay was wonderful! We walked to Lady’s Island Dockside both nights for dinner. The food was A+!! You better not be afraid of the dark though, because the walk home was dark, but neat under the glow of the moon. The owners of the cottage take very good care of their place. Thank you again for sharing it with us! We will recommend it.

The cottage is perfect for a couple, clean, comfortable, convenient. The neighborhood is beautiful and the house has everything a couple needs. It’s far enough from town to be quiet, but close enough to walk to shopping, food, and the beautiful views around Beaufort! Our hosts were very accommodating and delightful people. Awesome experience!

This VRBO property is one of the best short-term rentals that I've experienced. Everything is spotless; the owner even launders blankets for each use and disinfects all touch points. The cottage is decorated in soothing tones and with a variety of vintage landscape and seascape watercolors. The privacy is unparalleled, and believe me, it's far better to be across the short bridge from downtown than in the midst of a great deal of tourist traffic. That said, everything you might want to visit is easily accessible. I had a delightful stay in Barb's cottage.

We wanted to get a feel for living in the area. Live Oaks is new and freshly appointed. We shopped locally at Food Lion to have breakfast and dinners in the cottage. We packed picnic lunches to enjoy local parks and walk on the Spanish Moss Trail. Steps outside the cottage door, Whitehall Park provides an easy running route over the bridge to downtown Beaufort. There are many thoughtful details in the cottage. Barb was an excellent host and responsive timely with all details for a.perfect stay. This rental was one of the best we have visited.

The owners have done a spectacular job renovating this cottage for vacation rentals. One's first reaction upon entering is "Wow, how beautiful." A one-bedroom cottage with 1 1/2 baths, wholly outfitted kitchen, washer-dryer, and comfortable dining and living room areas. We kept remarking on the attention to detail, from dishes and flatware to the rain shower in the bathroom. Park right outside the front door under a beautiful live oak tree, on a lovely street with a live oak canopy. Great location on Lady's Island, just across the river from the City of Beauford. Highly recommended!

My husband and I were at this sweet cottage for 3 weeks during the winter. We can’t say enough positive things about it. It was beautifully decorated, and very clean. The manual had a lot of information about local places, and we enjoyed all the recommendations. It was close enough to town, yet very private and peaceful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your place, exploring Beaufort and the surrounding area.
Thankyou Barbara and Steve

This was my second visit to Beaufort and I was so excited to find this bungalow for my stay. I was there for a wedding further out on St. Helena Island and I wanted to revisit Savannah and Charleston while there - Perfect location! I was traveling by myself and the cottage was a great size. I was immediately taken with the outside - that lovely live oak tree with the spanish moss and uplighting - lovely. The cottage is so bright, clean, and well equipped. Great bedding and I LOVED the way everything is labeled. No fumbling to figure out which switch operated what. The hosts, who live in the house behind the cottage, were quick to respond and made check in/check out easy. Grocery stores and restaurants are close by and while you could walk across the bridge into Beaufort, the weather wasn't really conducive to that. Maybe next time! And if you have time, drive further out the Island and explore - nice trails and places to eat. I especially love Gullah Grub out in the Gullah community!

Everything about this cottage was great. The owners were nice and attentive and the cottage was clean with everything you need right there. It’s the perfect location to get to all of the areas to visit, port royal, downtown Beaufort, hunting island, etc. everything was 10-15 mins away at most. Hunting island may be a littler further but not by much. We highly recommend this place. We will definitely book this place every time we visit.

This quaint little cottage is perfect size for a solo traveler or a couple looking to get away. There is a small storage area attached to the building so you can keep things outside of the living area versus seeing the clutter inside! Quick drive time to downtown and several areas on Lady's Island.

A most beautiful upscale cottage with all the extra amenities you can imagine! Situated behind a large moss-laden oak that is lit at night, this rental was perfect for our 5th anniversary getaway. The extra tall ceilings made it seem much more spacious with all overhead fans being controlled remotely. All cabinets and switches were labeled and the kitchen was fully stocked. The bed was very comfortable though we really missed our king size. The owners were most accommodating, even greeting us upon arrival to help unpack the car. They even left a nice bottle of champagne, with flutes and a handwritten, congratulatory note chilling in the fridge. What a most thoughtful unexpected surprise! The location itself was perfect as it was less than five minutes to the Old Point and Bay Street restaurants & shopping. Also, it was only 8-10 minutes to everywhere as we “island hopped” in all directions. We can not say enough good about our hosts, Barbara & Steve. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit lovely Beaufort and we highly recommend this property!

Great location, great place to stay! Everything you need all in one spot. When the spice rack includes pink salt I'm pretty sure it should be considered "all inclusive"! We've recently had family move to Beaufort and we're in Texas. They've got a big family so this will be our home away from home (Austin) when we visit.
10.0 / 10.0
The cottage is centrally located between Beaufort and the islands. Anything one would want or need as far as provisions etc., is within a short walk/drive. Cottage is beautiful and super clean. More amenities than you could imagine. Everything from bathrobes, laundry supplies, cooking supplies like spices and utensils, to beach supplies. There is ample closet space and more than enough hangers. All the tech and electronics were simple to navigate. Hosts Barb and Steve were awesome. Their handbook for the stay was clear and had everything spelled out as well as restaurant menus and entertainment suggestions. They’ve got it down to a science. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
