About this house rental
The property is at Lunawanna, south Bruny Island and has been a permanent residence for 3 years and as such is fully and comprehensively facilitated. The property is situated in an absolutely stunning location with water wrapping around 3 sides. Huge decks take full advantage of this with access 20m away and Cemetery beach itself a short 80-100 m amble to the end of the road. There is plenty of parking and boat launching ramps close by. It is fully fenced with outdoor bbq and living areas at both ends, outdoor tables and chairs at both with dedicated wood stashes provided. There is also a Weber gas fired family Q on eastern deck should you want to cook with gas rather than wood. Recent renovations have seen double glazing and blinds, new carpets and floor coverings throughout. In addition the bathroom has been completely renovated with all new bathroom items and tiled floor. A reverse cycle air con has been installed to take the chill off early mornings whilst you wait for the combustion wood fire to do its things in winter or to provide cool during hot days. Extensive landscaped grounds complete the picture of a well cared for and loved home. The property sits on a double block with extensive bush garden and is fully fenced with waist high fencing. Small to medium sized dogs may be acceptable upon application. Larger dogs that may jump fences will not be considered. There is a $80 extra pet fee per pet.
The property is on Bruny Island and only accessed by car ferry. The ferry leaves from Kettering(about 30km south of Hobart). Ferry timetable can be accessed via Sealink Bruny Island site and is currently $50.60. The ferry ride takes 15mins and you disembark at Roberts pt. North Bruny and drive another 45km south to arrive at Lunawanna. On your drive you will pass through Great Bay and the Oyster shack as well as the famous Bruny Island cheese. A little further you cross the neck with the neck lookout on your left and water on both sides of the road. It is a stunning drive through rural idyll and seascapes. At T junction follow the road around to the right and meander through green valleys and wooded hills until you reach the coast again at Alonnah. Here are most services and Lunawanna is another 10min drive south. There is much to see and do on Bruny from some of the best day walks in Tasmania as well as the famous Pennicott cruises which leave from Adventure Bay. Similarly there are many old forest logging trails close by to be explored by adventurous mountain bike enthusiasts. Maps and details are available at the property for the above but you might very well be content just to relax and unwind on the front verandah and simply soak up the ambience and the beauty. There are two plastic sit-upons, paddles and pfd’s available for use and binoculars in the lounge room cupboard...in case you spot the sea eagle souring over head. Lots of books, puzzles and board games can also be accessed by guests. Alonnah pub is a short drive away or , if you are adventurous can be accessed after a short hike around the coast (a basic track for most of the way-takes bout 3hrs return) or Bruny winery and fine dinning is a short walk from the house itself. More details of things to do and see are in the guide book at the house itself. There are basic food essentials including olive oil and cooking oil for bbq-also plenty of bbq tools. If you are keen, there are 3 paella pans...just bring your rice etc and cook up a lovely smoky paella on the bbq...we do...regularly! A small pkt of full fat milk is provided for each stay .

Lovely holiday home, with all that you could wish for.

On entry we were all blown away by the property. It was a rare case where the comfort, expanse and appointment, exceeded expectations based on the listing. We arrived in the dark so it wasn’t until the next morning that we could fully appreciate the majesty of the location and the beautiful yard, teeming with native flora and birdlife. The host’s communication in the lead up to our stay was elite. We definitely hope to return here in the summer.

Very quiet location. Feels like your miles from anywhere, surrounded by water and nature, while your actually in town. Wished we could stay longer. Close to the lighthouse and other attractions that Bruny Island has to offer. Love to come back here one day. Highly recommended.

Well equiped house with everything you need. Clean and tidy with the fireplace ready to use. Perfect location for a walk or to use the canoes or just to sit on the deck with a glass of wine. Looking forward to coming back.

Always a treat. Relaxing. Well equipped to cover all needs (I baked a birthday cake and really good bread). Lovely and comfy, warm and welcoming.

Beautiful location amongst the native garden, with the sound of the nearby water lapping on the rocks. Wish we had had more time to relax on the deck

Thank you Judy, we couldn’t have been happier.
Didn’t clean out fireplaces as not sure where to put ashes and worried re fire risk.

We have stayed a month here and completely loved it. The only sound is lapping water, the stars are bright and last night we got a thunder and lightning show across the channel that was dramatic and fun. A lovely, almost empty sandy swimming beach is a short walk and we took the kayaks into the water just outside the door. House is great, clean, and beds are comfy.

Great spot on Bruny with lovely views and terrific wraparound deck. The kitchen and furniture are dated but the house os comfortable and well decked out.

Just lovely, perfect for what we needed. We did comment however the view of the bay was obscured by trees but not really a major issue at all.

Extremely comfortable and well set up. For bird lovers swift parrots in the trees next to the verandah was just magic.

Our stay was incredibly enjoyable. The weather was great, the amenities were good and the house is fully equipped. The house is spacious, yet it feels like 'home' and has several outdoor seating areas. The Bruny Hotel is close and a great dining venue which is also dog friendly. The staff were happy to help as my stepdad has an anxiety dog. Overall, I couldn't recommend this property highly enough.
Regards,
Kayla

Second stay at this lovely property, everything you could ever need is provided for a lovely comfortable getaway. Kids had a ball, dogs also loved it, nice and fairly close to all the things to do on the small island. Thanks Judith

The house was in a great location close to the beach and central to most places on Bruny Island. It was well supplied with kitchen equipment and very comfortable. The bed was sooo comfortable, absolutely dreamy.
We used the BBQ and it was good to have cleaning equipment readily available.
There was only 2 of us using the house but it would have been comfortable with 4 or 6 too.
Overall 10/10

We very much enjoyed our short stay. A comfortable house and a peaceful location. The weather was a bit up and down but we managed some short walks to the beach and had a great Sunday lunch at the nearby vineyard.

A lovely place to stay on Bruny! Highly recommended. The owner is thoughtful and obviously loves her property - which is greatly appreciated.

On the whole the property was good. Unfortunately there seemed to be a problem with the hot water as often no water at all came out of hot taps. Air seemed to get in pipes, after much turning on cold water first then waiting hot water eventually came out.
In the notes about the property there was reference to track to alonah, after considerable clambering and bush bashing we gave up, track starts OK then just vanishes. No signage for it anywhere. Similarly track to winery is not out the back, it's down the road quite a way, easy to locate once you know but again no signage.
Loved the wood heater, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, great decks.
Overall happy with stay.

Peace and tranquility
Wonderful 12 night stay in winter. Comfy, cosy and close to things we valued - good walking beaches, views, peace.
House fully equipped, beds comfy, and very pet friendly.
Garden is rich in birdlife and fully fenced which meant we could relax when your dogs were outside.

Fabulous winter get away
We had the best week here, it is a beautiful place, lovely views, right next to beaches, and. Lose to some fabulous walks. It was mid winter, so dark by 5 pm, we lit the fire and relaxed! We cooked on the bbq as well as stove top, but there are 2 places to go out for lunch or dinner within 5 and 10 mins drive. The host was really easy to communicate with, and everything was exactly as described.

Stormy and beautiful
Very easy, prompt replies to all questions and booking in. Lovely clean property with a great outlook. Great if you have a well behaved dog (birds in the native garden). The weather really turned it on, windy wet and cold but we were toastie warm with plenty of entertainment in the form of games
jigsaws, books, magazines or simply sitting by the large windows watching the ocean. Nice beach an easy walk down the road. Thank you for letting stay in your lovely house Judy and Rod.

Great getaway
The house was clean and tidy, with everything you need for a getaway.
You only need to pack your clothes and food, everything else was supplied by the thoughtful owner.

The property was in a quiet area and contained all the amenities we needed. It was very comfortable apart from a mosquito issue in the bedroom and the sheets didn't feel that clean.
