Schöner Ausblick und Lage, gute Ausstattung, gutes Frühstück

Casa Maina is a hidden gem about 20 minutes from the Huatulco airport in the tiny community of Salchi. Beautifully appointed suites with kitchen facilities and lovely big balcony with a spectacular view of the ocean. Wonderful hosts and great staff. Would go back in a heartbeat!
We actually kind of liked that it was off the beaten track but you should be aware that a car is needed if you want to buy groceries or explore beyond the hotel.

Quiet, comfortable, laidback. Nice terrace. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfy bed. Infinity pool. Food is excellent. Very nice deco and design. Cute little beach 5/10 min away from hotel if you don’t mind the stairs.
The view on the ocean in most of the units is partial. You see a bit of the ocean but not enough to fully enjoy it or to see sunset/sunrise. I was disappointed about that as they advertised ocean view . Loads of mosquitos. Location away from everything if you plan to cook make sure you buy your groceries in Huatulco. We did not rent a car so we were depending in taxi which cost about 750.000 pesos from La Crucecita.

Casa Mauna is located in Salchi, a remote area, with stunning landscapes and beach. The accommodation facing the sea are wonderful and the pool with its lovely cocktails made the stay just perfect.
While the food from the vegan restaurant is delicious, I would have appreciated some more diversity and some non vegan options leveraging the seafood and local delicacies.

This is the second time we stayed and we love the place!
Nothing really.
4.7
The experience was calm and relaxed. A great place to chill out. You have really grate staff. They were always helpful if needed.
I'm not a vegan but the food was great.
The fruit smoothy wasn't available!
4.7
Beautiful spacious and comfortable rooms with stunning views. Nice vegan food.
We (Waze) had some trouble finding the place.
4.7
very relaxing place, amazing beach
beach towels were reused. asked for a room to be cleaned and it wasn’t done. didn’t know there were no seafood / fish food options.
4.7
The place was beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing. The interior of the suite was modern and comfortable, the pool and restaurant were convenient and the beach is close by. We would definitely return and recommend it to anyone who wants to have a few days of tranquility.
Nothing, everything met expectations.

It’s absolutely incredible
That I couldn’t stay longer
4.7
Its all vegan, but delicious, if you prefer something else you can always use your included kitchen. Just make sure you make a stop for groceries if that’s what you’re looking for because there’s nothing on the surroundings
Maybe having an option for non-vegans
4.7
beautiful view, nice comfy beds, beautiful beach around the corner
it is a bit secluded, so you need a car
staff was not really friendly.

I love Casa Mauna. It was my second time staying there. The suites are just perfect and I appreciate the vegan restaurant. The food is so good even if you aren't vegan you will enjoy it. The owners are super nice and Emiliano the waiter is great. Staff are all friendly. One of my favorite getaways on the Oaxacan Coast.

Exceptional architecture/design of building and apartment. Beautiful location. Helpful staff (when asked). Off-site owner responds immediately to questions. Well equipped kitchen. Notes: Only swimming beach is in Cuatunalco just to the left (southeast) of the massive rocks projecting into the sea, opposite the beginning of the lagoon and la Panguita on Google Maps. Best seafood dinner (and least expensive) is in the village at Choza De Chivis.
Suggestions: make it clear up front the restaurant is 100% vegan and make this clear in the welcome email so omnivores can buy supplies in Huatulco. (you can also eat at Manta Raya - a short walk down the hill) This place is more European style (reserved) than Mexican style (overtly warm and welcoming). Once you adjust to that it's a slice of luxury in the wilderness. Also the hotel description should mention their steps (the hotel is built into a steep hillside): 25 from the parking lot to the first landing, 25 from their to reception/restaurant/pool, 25 from landing to our apartment. So might be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues (OK for us, thinking about others.)

It was a beautifull and new location in such a serene town, it felt like having a private beach. Also, whilst we aren't vegan, the vegan food served was amazing!
There wasnt much not to like, honestly.
4.7
Nice intimate, quiet hotel and beach. The food was excellent. And the service was warm and attentive. The rooms were big with all the amenities.
4.7
Comfortable and cozy hotel. Delicious cocktails to enjoy the beautiful sunset🍹
4.7
Beautiful, rustic and peaceful setting.
A little remote.
4.7
The hotel is amazing. Pictures vs reality = the same.
The room is really nice, perfect if you want to cook for yourself .
The sun loungers are the worst, they don’t have cushions or air beds so it is really uncomfortable.
4.7
The place was secluded and quiet!
Not very accessible to shops, stores and restaurants
4.7
It is not only a place, it is more than that.
you are in contact with the nature and with an exceptional view.
The place is great to have total relaxation.
Rooms are spacious and restaurant is very nice and delicious.
Overall good but, parking place could be more spacious and the beach access is not an easy walk for everybody.
Chilaquiles could be added as an option for breakfast too.
And have more beer variety.
4.7
The view and location is stunning. Pool is amazing. Vegan food was delicious and we are meat eaters.
Room was gorgeous and super clean. loved having a kitchen. The internet was excellent. Hope to be back soon!
It would be nice if the staff was encouraged to be more outgoing and friendlier, in addition to offer information on the hotel and surroundings at check-in.
I was handed keys with no explanation of anything.

Location, facilities, staff, drinks, prices,
Only vegan food, no cushions for sun beds, no sunbeds at the beach

Where to start; Casa Mauna was the highlight of our trip on the west coast! Every other hotel felt disappointing after it.
Ewen, his wife and their team have put together a very special place. We loved every bit of it.
it’s a cliff house with wonderful views, you can hear the ocean from your room, you get amazing golden hour sunsets from the pool and the restaurant is also very yummy and fairly priced. you go down some steps and walk a minute or two and you’re on a wild beach where you can swim with manta rays.
The apartment is very cute and well equipped, you have everything you need. The terrace is of good size and perfect to work or chill.
We loved our stay and actually came back for a second one on the way back from Puerto Escondido. Its the perfect escape when you’re travelling on that side of the country, do not miss it!
Nada

Few options of protein for a vegan place
4.7
Nicely up the hill, sea view, close to the beach, vegan food, high level of customer service
4.7
Everything, loved this place so much!
4.7
We love our luxury suite with an ocean view, the infinity pool was fantastic. The unlimited drinking water is an excellent addition! We are not vegan but we loved the vegan food!
4.7
amazing place. really focused on the details. it’s a really great place to just zoom out and relax. loved that all the food was vegan. walking distance to a beautiful beach with almost no people.
nothing. the only „bad“ thing is that there is really not much around. so no cafés or restaurants (except for one hotel restaurant at the beach). in case you want to see something else you would need a car. but: why leave this beautiful casa mauna? 😉
