About this house rental
Woodland Trails' Lodge was built in 2003 to be an upscale B & B and has been meticulously maintained since. It is now available for your exclusive use. The Great Room is a perfet place for your friends and family to gather. The wood-burning fireplace, with wood provided, adds cozieness.
The dining room has seating for everyone, and the kitchen is fully equipped.
The view out the windows is of wildlife, including deer, and birds at the feeders. Our private pond is a big figure "8" that makes for an enjoyable trip around on one of our paddle boats or canoe.
The seven bedrooms are all spacious, have a private bath, comfortable seating area with electric fireplace and a private deck or patio. Six of the baths also have a whirlpool tub. Each bedroom is perfect for quiet time, to take a nap or read a book.
The Owners' Suite, with bedroom, bath and living room is on the main floor. It is perfect for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Four bedrooms are located on the 2nd floor. They are the Winterberry, Royal Fern, Aspen and Red Oak. The St. Croix and Sugar Maple Rooms are located on the lower, walk-out level.
Five of the bedrooms have king-size beds. The Red Oak as a queen-size and the Sugar Maple has two twin beds and a private bath with shower but no tub.
We have miles of private trails on our wooded land. Outside of snow season, golf carts are provided for touring in comfort.
Bring your four-wheelers or snowmobiles. We have plenty of parking. Our trails are reserved for hiking, snowshoeing and our complimentary golf carts but, in Pine County, it is legal to ride ATVs and Four-Wheelers on the roadside to a major trail system 1/2 mile north of the Lodge.
While our address is Hinckley, we are located 23 miles east of Hinckley, near the St. Croix River and the Wisconsin border. We are just four miles from Danbury, Wisconsin.
We are an easy two-hour drive from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud or Eau Claire and just over an hour from Duluth.
Besides enjoying the view, perhaps with a real-wood fire in the fireplace, guests enjoy watching the birds at feeders outside.
Your well-behaved one or two dogs are welcome.
Two casinos are nearby: St. Croix Casino in Danbury and Grand Casino in Hinckley.
Canoeing and tubing on the St. Croix and Namekagan Rivers through Pardun Conoe Rental in Danbury.
Four-wheeling? Bring yours or rent from Throttle RX Rentals in Danbury.
St. Croix State Park, Minnesota's largest, has activities in every season. Crex Meadows Wildlife Area in Grantsburg has great wildlife watching, particularly during spring and fall migrations. Forts Folle Avoine in Webster, Wisconsin is a reproduction of an 1803 fur trading post.

Spacious for extended family get together. Grand kids had so much fun exploring the property on the golf carts multiple times a day, going on the water bikes, looking for deer, birds, porcupines etc. Home was very clean and supplied with everything you need for your stay! Did not need to bring soap, towels, etc from home. Best part checkout was a breeze, no special rules to follow like stripping the beds, emptying all the garbage etc.. upon leaving like other rentals. If you are on the fence, I would not hesitate to stay here! Very peaceful, but plenty to do on the property.

It was wonderful, everyone had their own ensuit! The house is very large so plenty of room for our party of eleven. The house has everything you need and more for meal prep, huge kitchen and dinning room. The grounds are so beautiful with miles of well groomed trails, fire pit, screen porch, pond with paddle boat. We will be back!

My extended family of ages 9 to late 70s stayed in this beautiful lodge in the woods and can't say enough about how wonderful it was. The lodge has everything you would need. We were a group of 12 people and everyone had all of the space they needed to feel comfortable yet it was cozy at the same time. Groceries and restaurants are close by if needed. We ate most all meals at the house. The 4 kids loved all of the activities. I highly recommend this property!

This vrbo was so much more than we expected! John and Sandra are very thoughtful hosts! They think of everything ....and so many little details that make your stay wonderful! We only stayed 2 nights which wasn't long enough to do everything that there is to offer! Between taking the golf carts out on the trails to bon fires at night. Games to play inside and exploring the grounds and the wildlife, fun was had by all!

We had another amazing stay at Woodland Trails Lodge. This gorgeous home makes for a perfect place to gather with family or friends - everyone has their own space, ensuite bathroom, and beautiful accommodations. The kitchen is enormous and great to cook in. The large fireplace in the living room makes the home cozy and we sat there every morning and evening to chat. The owners and staff are accommodating, have excellent communication, and helped make the stay wonderful a second time. Thank you!

Returning group for a little R&R. Slept 10 comfortably, with tons of wiggle room. Beautiful cabin with all of the added features. Hosts are quick to respond to any questions and are very friendly. Don’t miss out on Amelia’s Cafe for breakfast and the Salty Steer for all of your BBQ cravings.

This was our third stay at Woodland Trails and it did not disappoint. Everything was lovely and there was more than enough room for the ten of us to relax. Fall colors were amazing, the area is peaceful and spacious, and there's a grocery store ten minutes away for anything you forgot. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances, cookware, etc. Booked another trip for next year as well!

House:
The house is modern and maintained to a high standard. The fully stocked kitchen (appliances, dinnerware, etc.) is the best I have ever seen. We found plenty of use for the commercial sized refrigerator/freezer, the ovens and dishwashers.
The bedrooms (and in room bathrooms) are spacious and well maintained.
The large windows in the main living area add a sense of being outdoors.
Property:
We really enjoy the trail system on the property that you can hike, bike or ride one of their golf carts on. My adult children and my granddaughter especially like the golf carts.
The privacy is great due to the size of the property that the house is located on. If you want to get away for some peace and quiet, this is the place to go.
Owners/caretakers:
The owners and caretakers are top notch. They take care of any questions you have in short order and are very friendly.
Finally, we enjoyed are stay so much that we booked the property again for next year.

The title says it all. This was our third year staying at Woodland Trails and we booked again for next year. We can’t get enough of this place. There’s room for everyone, and the kids just love the basement. We enjoy the trails so much. John and his team are always very responsive and ready to assist. Truly a pleasure staying here and we look forward to continued memories. Get out on the pond if you have time and definitely enjoy a bonfire.

They have thought of everything all you need to do is show up. It being a former Bed and Breakfast makes it a perfect set up for multiple couple or families. It is clean, spacious and full of stuff to do.
We will definitely be going back.

Woodlands is unique. Lots of land with no neighbors. We had fun with the golf carts ans paddle boats. The lodge is beautiful and has everything. Host is very helpful.
It also offers several bird feeders from hummingbirds to woodpeckers. Swans are on the Beaver Pond.
Danbury is a nice town only a couple miles down the road.
Gandy Dancer Trail is easy and scenic.
Amelia's for breakfast and Wild Water / Salty Steer for dinner.
The best attraction is the fort near Yellow Lake. A must do for sure.

This was our 4th time staying at the property as a family. We love it there. Thanks to the wonderful hosts for sharing their property with us.

The review for our second stay will be basically the same as the first one because John and Sandy along with their great housekeeping and maintenance staff keep the property in pristine condition.
Woodland Trails Lodge is an exceptional home situated in a beautiful wooded setting. The moment we walked into the Lodge comfort engulfed us. It is understandable how John and Sandy had a successful B & B for many years! Their attention to detail and providing the simple comforts of home are everywhere.
The screened in porch was the favorite breezy, bug-fee area for playing cards and enjoying a late afternoon cocktail.
Sandra’s kitchen was amazing!! Loved the stove top (even though I am a devoted to cooking with gas), the warming oven and two dishwashers! It was fun to have such a nice variety of dishes.
The entire property is a nature wonderland! The variety of birds was awesome. The binoculars and bird books on hand were appreciated and used frequently. Watching the deer and wild turkeys each morning and at dusk was enjoyable.
We wanted a quiet place for a relaxing week and we got it and more at the Lodge. Thank you, John and Sandy, for sharing your magnificent home

I truly cannot say enough about this property. If you do get an opportunity to stay here, I highly recommend it. I wish I could pick it up and bring it with me wherever I go.
This property has everything multiple bedrooms that have their own bathrooms. A huge dining room with large tables together. Biggest kitchen I've ever had in a VRBO. Awesome! Frigerator stove microwave double oven double coffee pots you name it. This place has it.
Not only is the house awesome but the property it's on is so beautiful. You can go for miles on walks or take their golf carts and go on multiple trails. It has a beautiful pond and fire pit area.
And it's not just people that love this place. It's the nature in animals around it. You constantly are seeing deer yearlings doughs birds of all kinds hummingbirds you name it all from just even your living room window.
It's a great place and the hosts are awesome. You get in on time and they're very flexible and they make the property so inviting. Even offering wine and having music playing when you walk in
I highly highly recommend this place
