About this house rental
The Castle at Garrison Field, was built as a Cotswolds, England style country manor house. The residence and elegant grounds presents a private oceanfront country estate fronting Spring Cove and the Atlantic Ocean. This magnificent 6 bedroom seaside estate is fabulous for families to gather and enjoy private time with their families or friends. The multiple gardens continue the English country motif, with low stone walls to portion the 14-acre property and define the formal pool area. The estate features an oceanfront conservatory, pool (open June until mid Sept ) and a private beach. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, while staying at The Castle. You’re 8 minutes away from Portland’s Old port and all the incredible restaurants and bars. The Castle at Garrison Field also offers lobster bakes (ask about pricing). Come stay with us and let us make your dream vacation come true. ****The owner lives nextdoor and is available if anyone needs help or has any questions during their stay. Huge mansion with modern upgrades. Great for an extended family getaway.

It was a wonderful home for a birthday celebration with friends that wanted to experience Maine. The grounds were expansive with lovely water views. The host were very responsive.

This is an exceptional home that is historical, gorgeous and comfortable as well. A perfect location and layout for our family of 12 adults. We travel all over the world and these were by far the most responsive hosts we've had in any setting. Shannon was super responsive since we booked a year earlier, and during our stay constantly in touch to confirm all is well. Minor things were addressed within minutes. Along with Jeff, the property owner, and Chelsea they hosted a lovely outdoor lobster bake on a gorgeous evening. We felt truly at home and would absolutely return. A very special place that is unique and impossible not to appreciate. Thank you, Jeff, Shannon and Chelsea,!

We loved the home and site. Unfortunately, we had too many family and extended family attend. We had not invited children. We found broken glass in the dining room and weed container in the large urn in the living room. The commode in the small bathroom would not flush. It is a beautiful site with real turkeys in the am. I am sorry for our transgressions. I do not want our violation of policies to affect future renters.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Garrison Field Estate in Cape Elizabeth with a group of 12 women for a celebratory weekend, and it was nothing short of amazing. The estate itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and well-maintained grounds that made for a picturesque setting.
The team running the house were brilliant and thoughtful, attending to our every need with a level of care and professionalism that truly made our stay exceptional. Their attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond ensured that we had a memorable experience.
One highlight of our trip was the lobster bake. If you're staying here, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary. It was a delicious and quintessentially Maine experience that everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed.

Our stay at this beautiful home in Cape Elizabeth surpassed all of our expectations. Shannon was such a pleasure to work with and was extremely accommodating. We have been staying in Cape
Elizabeth for Almost 20 Years and have never found another property this outstanding. The decor, views and comfort were exceptional! We highly recommend staying at this fabulous house!

This house was perfect for me, my married kids, their spouses, and my grandkids. The house was very clean and spacious. It rained the whole time, but we still had a great time. And Shannon, who manages the property, was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Hope to return next year.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have celebrated our daughter's wedding with friends and family at Garrison Field. Everything about this property is amazing. I could point everything out that was exceptional, but it would take too long!
Both Jeff and Shannon were wonderful to deal with. The lobster bake was outstanding. We eat a lot of lobster in the summer, and this was the best that we ever had. Shannon was very attentive to our guests and made everyone feel welcome and provided impeccable service.
I highly recommend this property for family gatherings. My son has an infant and a toddler and he and his wife were able to have a room that was secluded from the others. They couldn't hear us and we couldn't hear them!
Our guests were awe struck by the beauty of the home, grounds and ocean. Thank you Jeff and Shannon for making our celebration AMAZING!

This majestic home is simply amazing! From the second you walk in the front door you are mesmerized by the architectural details, views and condition of this almost 100-year-old castle. The pictures don't do it justice, it is so much prettier in person. It's like stepping back in time. The house is meticulously restored, and the original woodwork, marble & wood floors and leaded windows are all in perfect condition. Every bedroom is nicer than the next and the linens, pillows and amenities are all top of the line. Both the manager Shannon and the owner Jeff are wonderful hosts and take great pride in making sure their guests have everything they need for the perfect stay.
Our group consisted of 12 adults and 3 young children, all immediate family. We came up to Cape Elizabeth for a family reunion at my nephew's house which was only 3 miles from the Castle. We could not have found a better place to stay! The kitchen and dining room made for the perfect family gathering spot and we so enjoyed our evening cocktail hours on the rear yard overlooking the expansive lawn and beautiful ocean view. The grounds are pretty amazing and there are 2 outbuildings on the property that make the perfect spot to read a book or just relax. Walking the beach and watching the moon rise over the ocean was a real treat also. I have stayed at a lot of nice places over the years, but none come close to this. I highly recommend it and would give it 6 Stars if I could!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Garrison Field castle on Cape Elizabeth. A charming and unique opportunity to gather with old friends and enjoy a long weekend next to the ocean in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend looking into a stay here with family, friends, or any special occasion. Our host, Shannon was very helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable.

We had a truly magical stay. The combination of private ocean and pool was perfect for young kids and adults. The property was peaceful and majestic, unique and interesting. The bedroom ‘wings’ offered privacy for families and insulated everyone from early risers or night owls. We stretched to make this one happen and it was worth every penny. We will go back for many years to come.

We hosted a surprise birthday week for my wife and her friends in Mid-July. I cannot imagine a better property for our group. Everything was spectacular and the property itself is beyond words. The pool area was a particular highlight for our group.
The only thing to consider here- the 1st floor, including the two bedrooms on this floor, are not air conditioned. There are a lot of fans throughout the property and air flow is plentiful, but we were in an unusual heat wave for Maine and there were a couple of uncomfortable nights in those 1st floor bedrooms.
Overall- Really can't say enough great things about our experience at Garrison Fields.

Lovely, private and quiet; very large scale property/house. Loads of room to get some quiet time and to explore. Family loved it very much. There during a heat wave in Maine. A/c only in the bedrooms upstains (some rooms chill better than others; some wouldn't go below 71); no a/c in bedrooms downstairs, so it was quite warm at night there. While the house is on the ocean and often has a nice breeze, the house can get a bit warm during the day and stone facade retains the heat. Many of the windows do not open, but for those that do, some have screens and some don't - so a bit buggy when we needed the cross ventilation. Owner lives on property in a detached garage. Property manager was very lovely and accommodating. Owner too was very nice and gave some good suggestions for local farm provisions (e.g., lobster and local veggies!) Pool was amazing. We sat out in the patio by the pool most of the time - but note that the kitchen is at the opposite end of the house - so long way to carry food and drinks. We cooked a lot, so kitchen was important to us, but we there were no exhaust fans there and layout of butler pantry and main kitchen was wonky and tight if you had more than 3 or4 people in the kitchen. Also, missing some basic cleaning supplies for daily wipe down (no windex or counter cleaners/kitchen cleaning cloths, etc.) Water pressure was amazing.

Maine vacation
The 'Castle' is an amazing house, like an old English Manor house, very large and beautiful inside and out. We had our family of 11 with ages 12 to 82. The 5 grandkids had a great time in the pool and looking for shells & sea glass at the beach. Jeff and Shannon are very gracious hosts and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Cape Elizabeth is a very neat town and also close to Portland.

A truly outstanding family vacation home
A truly outstanding family vacation home. We had high expectations based on the photographs, description and reviews of this home. These expectations were actually exceeded because of the home, the property, and the manager and owner of the home. First of all, Shannon and Jeff went way beyond our expectations in terms of hospitality, responsiveness and making sure we were happy. As expected, the house was simply magnificent. The exterior and appearance was unique. and the inside spaces were spacious, clean, and actually lots of fun. For a family of cooks, the kitchens and Butler’s pantry were outstanding. The property was just terrific. The real surprise was the pool and surrounding landscaping, much larger than the pictures. The back lawn rolling out to the water was spectacular. 3 recommendations: eat at The Lobster Shack at Two Lights- 3 miles away. Eat at Luke’s in Portland. Go to Portland Lighthouse for 2 hours of walking, scenery and fun. On the last night, we lit the fire pit for marshmallows. Thanks Shannon and Jeff for a great experience.

Wonderful place to celebrate.
This is an amazing property! We gathered our family to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and truly felt like royalty. The home is very spacious with many places to relax. The kids particularly enjoyed the pool and private beach area (great for looking for shells and sea glass). The adults appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and butler's pantry as well as the many artworks all over the house. We all enjoyed the ocean views, dining on the terrace and movie nights with the large screen in the Great Room. The house is well located to explore area lighthouses, lobster shacks and the Casco Bay area, with easy access to the Portland airport. The host was attentive and easily reached by text. Staying here made for a truly memorable vacation.

Loved the castle and Jeff and Shannon both were amazing!
We had a group of 6 couples on the trip. The castle was amazing. The view was unbeatable. Plenty of room to spread out. Jeff and Shannon were both a call or text away for any questions and checked in daily. Would definitely recommend!

Simply Magical
We’re still a bit on cloud 9 after a Christmas week stay at Garrison Field! The house is simply magical and what a treat it was to sit by a roaring fire in the great room and play games and laugh together while enjoying the view of the ocean. Shannon went above and beyond to decorate the house for us including a gorgeous tree with all the Christmas trimmings! She was so kind to help me in advance planning for groceries (including unpacking and putting away before we arrived) and packages mailed in advance. Both she and Jeff were incredibly responsive to any question or need we had. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend it without hesitation. Looking forward to a return visit!

Phenomenal environment for family vacation
Outstanding property. Unbelievable view and resources. One of the best vacations that we have ever had with our adult children. Close to many of Maine's most beautiful areas. I would strongly recommend the property and we hope to stay there again in the future.

The perfect castle!
Our stay at this oceanfront castle in Cape Elizabeth was nothing short of amazing. Jeff and Shannon were so accommodating and really made our experience wonderful. Jeff had firewood chopped and ready for us when the weather said it was going to be a rainy weekend, and Shannon brightened the rooms with fresh flowers. They were both super responsive and kind.
We hosted a women's leadership retreat at the property and all of the women couldn't have been happier with their stay. The location right on the beach made it perfect for their professional photo shoot, the giant living space around the fireplace had everyone feeling cozy while they were led through leadership exercises, and the large dining area made for the perfect place to gather and get to know each other.
I really can't say enough wonderful things about this place. We would love to host another retreat here in the future - maybe in summertime to take advantage of the beautiful heated pool :)

Amazing estate
Our family of 9 reunited after Covid distancing to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone had an exceptional time, despite some gloomy weather. The property is exceptional and the host was very gracious.

A hidden gem.
The property is magnificent, certainly worthy of being called an English manor house.. Highlights are the pool, acres of fresh cut grass overlooking a private beach, a great room that lives up to its name and plenty of space in which to spread out. The major drawback is lack of air conditioning on the ground floor where two of the six bedrooms are located. Ordinarily this should not be a problem but our stay coincided with an un-Maine like heat wave.

Lovely stay!!
We had a great time at this property. The house and land were beautiful. We loved the pool and used it daily, they were kind enough to heat it warm enough for the little kids. Note that the owner does stay in the carriage house while you're there, however, we never saw him or interacted with him after his initial tour so this wasn't a problem. Thanks for a lovely stay!!

Magical getaway in Cape Elizabeth
My family and I had a wonderful week staying at this beautiful castle in Cape Elizabeth. Our kids are 10, 9, 6, and 2, and they enjoyed swimming in the pool, looking for sea glass on the beach, playing new board games, and exploring everything else that the property has to offer. There were also many fun activities for kids in Cape Elizabeth, just minutes away from the property.
The owners were very helpful and responsive to all of our needs. This place exceeded our expectations, and we would happily stay there again!

The manager and owner bend over backwards to accommodate any needs. We had a wonderful family time in both sun and windy rainy weather. The house, in spite of being almost 100 years old, was very comfortable. No closet in one downstairs bedroom but the clothing rack worked nicely. No curtains in the upstairs front bedrooms was a slight issue but we put sunrise lovers in those rooms! Would love to return.
