This was our 2nd year in the home. We absolutely love the location and easy of check-in/out. Plenty of space inside for everyone to spread out. We had an issue with the A/C and someone was sent out as soon as possible to fix it. Everyone we spoke with to remedy any issue was very nice and eager to help. Hoping to return for a 3rd year.

Loved the house, had most everything you would need. Loved the pool, hot tub, loved the location directly across from Food Lion. The only thing we didn’t love was the beds. I just don’t understand why these houses can’t put in better beds. I know I’m not the only one to say this. If you want a perfect rating have decent beds.

We had a wonderful week with family and friends. House accommodations were great and very spacious. Awesome amenities including pool and hot tub! Would highly recommend. Only reason for the star deduction and it’s kind of a big one is replace ALL the beds. Beds and pillows were terrible condition in all the rooms including the kids. With renting such an expensive property, our expectation would be to have good and comfortable beds. Many of us felt springs in the actual beds and considerable sagging in the middle.

In a short summary we will not stay here again. The house smelt like fish when we arrived and the smell did not ever go away even after they said they came to the house while we were out. All of the bathrooms have mold growing in the faucets and handles for the showers as well as the master bathroom soaker tub. The hot tub was broken and we were not given the option to heat the pool. All in all the only thing we loved was the view from the porch.

The pool was great. New concrete around it was very nice. The outside showers were nice too. The home was not very clean. It looked clean initially but the floors were dirty with pet hair from previous stays. There was dirt around the edges of the rooms. The dishwasher didn’t work properly and really needs replacing. Parts of the racks are broken. Upon arrival we noticed a putrid smell and realized the sewage from the septic tank was overflowing. We called Saturday evening when we got there, and ended up having to contact Vacasa two more times before someone finally came on Thursday when our stay was almost over. We never received communication or updates about when to expect them to come so we were left in the dark. The itches is decently stocked. All of the queen mattresses and the king mattress needs to be replaced. They have dips, are old, squeaky and uncomfortable. I hate for it to sound so picky but when you’re paying such a high price, you expect things to be in great condition, cleaned well and good quality. The pictures that show a path to the beach across the street from the home aren’t accurate. There is now a home built directly in front of this home so you have to walk about 3-4 houses down to the beach access. Overall it is a nice home and worth the money if it’s cleaned properly and the beds and dishwasher are replaced. It’s a great location with a shopping center, including a grocery store across the street.

The layout of the house is spacious. The pool and hot tub are nice perks as well as being so close to the beach. The down side is that thehouse needs a deep cleaning. There were dust bunnies and cob webs.

We had a friends week at Shenanigans, and it was GREAT. The bedrooms and main living areas were big and great. They had nice pillows and the AC worked great (top priorities!!). The kitchen had the basics, which was all we needed - no top chefs here. I wish there had been a high chair (which was my bad for not asking ahead of time), and there was nothing in terms of spices, condiments, etc., which may be a policy because of COVID that all of that is thrown away between rentals. There was also nothing in terms of pool toys and the pool chairs were struggling, though new ones were delivered during our stay. Also, there were no beach chairs / toys. We've stayed at many houses at OBX in the past, and while its not always top notch quality, there are usually some beach toys to borrow, at a minimum leave behinds from previous renters. That said, it wasnt advertised that the house would have these things, so no stars removed. And certainly there are lots of stores down there were you can buy these things! We would definitely stay here again. Although not beach front, its super close, and you can still see the ocean pretty well.

A great week in October
Our stay at Shenanigans was a great escape from the normal routines of life as recent empty nesters . The weather cooperated and the location of this home is perfect, as you can walk to grocery store, or to grab takeout food from the nearby restaurants. We took many walks on the beach and spent lots of time in the hot tub. We enjoyed having our meals in the dining room with the slider open to hear and see the ocean. The only constructive criticism we have to offer is that the property could have been cleaned better before we arrived, as there were many empty beer cans around the hot tub, and lots of beer cans and wine bottles on the lawn and in the tree area.

Well Equipped home
This house met all of our needs with the exception of the pool was closed. This was one of our reasons for choosing this home as well as the price for the week with pool access. However, the beach being so accessible made up for it. The kitchen was very well equipped as we cook most of our meals on vacation. Having the Food Lion just across the street was a plus too. The bedrooms were well furnished to meet out needs. Very enjoyable home to stay in.

Great home for large family vacation!
We had a large family group of 14 and this house was just right for us. Plenty of beds and bathrooms. Kids loved the bunk room and single bed rooms. Spacious well stocked kitchen with a large island that was great. The kids immediately were in the pool and the hot tub was nice to use. The house does need some attention to general maintenance and upkeep. Several missing lightbulbs, only 1 of the 2 outdoor showers worked, most of the dressers/nightstands had broken drawers, the dishwasher did not work when we got there and it took 3 days, several phone calls and emails to get it fixed. There were no chairs on the middle deck so we had to bring some up just to be able to use it.
That being said, the location absolutely can’t be beat. We were just a minutes walk to the grocery, several souvenir shops and restaurants. We were steps from the boardwalk to the beach. The view is FANTASTIC! There are no houses directly in front of the property so we had a wonderful view of the ocean all week. It’d be hard to find another house that was better for the price and we are already hoping to return. Thank you for a great week and wonderful memories.
